Semco Energy is the most deceptive, unethical utility company-period. Time and time again, I have knowledge of their deceptive, intimidating, threatening billing/collections. The female representative from Port Huron lies to customers, and routinely breaks the rules and policies for bill collecting. The demand deposits from customers that are new, and then refuse to return the deposit after the customer has left, simply stating that the customer never paid a deposit. When you start new service, KEEP a copy of the deposit you paid, and make sure you get it back! Also, when they try to collect another deposit from you, when you move, immediately contact the FTC, BBB, ATTORNEY GENERAL, MPSC, and even your state representative. The MPSC is supposed to monitor Semco, but does a poor job. It seems like they condone this activity, and Semco is never held accountably for their actions. I would like to know where I could go to make a valid, formal complaint, where these actions would be fully investigated.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
