Hello,
I moved into a home in August 2021 in New Jersey that had solar panels purchased from Sunnova, with a power purchase agreement. I bought the entire system from them outright on October 14 2021. Attached is the buyout letter.
Despite this purchase, Sunnova continued to claim the rights to my energy credits through February 28 2023, at which point I realized and had the system transferred.
Starting from March 1 2023 they transferred the rights of the system to me, and I am now able to claim SRECS, but only going forward from March.
They owe me money for the credits they claimed during the time when the rights to the solar panel S-RECS belonged to me, from October 2021- February 2023.
During this time, my system produced a total of 9349.56 KwH.
The certificates were generated by Sunnova, and I do not have access to claim the SRECS for them. There are a total of 9 RECS claimed by Sunnova, at a price of $214 per SREC for the first 4.5, and $216 per SREC for the other 2.5. (SREC pricing is based on the month/year it was produced).
That is a total of $964 + $972 = $1935.
Sunnova owes me this money now.
I tried to contact customer service many times, they seemed confused and unable to help me.
I tried to email Brandon A and Clayton B at Sunnova in the renewables department.. They did not respond to my emails. I spoke to Brandon A twice on the phone. Both times he was very nice, told me that Sunnova should definitely owe me the money, told me it was not his department but he would follow up on it, and then failed to do so.
Today I emailed Ellen Bock and Lily Hernandez, who signed my purchase agreement in August 2021. Ellen Bock was VP of Customer relations at the time, but she does not work for the company anymore.
Please help me.
Desired outcome: I would like Sunnova to refund me the money they owe me for the SRECS they claimed during the time that the system belonged to me, $1935.
