Tax "Masters"
While the State Attorney of Texas gets their ducks in a row, we are trying to help out other unassuming people who are looking for tax help so that other people don't get into the same problem as myself and possibly as many as 150 people who's complaints I have found on different blogs. Tax Masters is the most irresponsible and negligent tax outfit I have ever had the disfortune to have worked with. (I should correct this to say that they are the most irrpsobonsible and negligent service in general that I have ever hired in any capacity). My story in a nutshell: There was a $60K error posted on one of my tax returns and I recieved a letter from the IRS rightfully charging my what they thought I owed. I needed to amend my returns and pay the correct amount. I am not someone who didn't pay their taxes or tried to cheat the IRS. But when I recieve this letter from the government, I called Tax Masters thanks to their ad on CNN. What I have recieved for my $6000 fee has been three months of pulling my hair out and not sleeping and even more IRS troubles because they instructed me NOT to contact them or reply to any letters, that they would handle it (and they never did). Only after 75 days of almost daily pleading, did I recieve ONLY ONE of the 5 revised tax returns they owe me. No one in the office returns calls. They charged me $6000 for services I did not need. Compared to other people who's complaints I have read, I was lucky enough to find the only competent person at Tax Masters and ONLY because of him did I even receieve my urgent amended returns (which he had ot send me against company policy of letting tehir clients review the returns). They do things like not return over 30 voicemessages I left over a month and then call to charge you $60 for overnight shipping, only to send it for $1.35 in snail mail. I could write and write all the millions of details of the torture I have endured over the past 3 months. But In lieu of this, I will simply refer you all to one blog I found that had various complaints. http://www.enormousincongruities.com/2006/02/22/tax-masters/
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Dose anyone know what can be done now? getting money back or getting the help that was paid for.
Tax Masters led me to believe that for 5+ months they had been in contact with the IRS helping me to get my interested and penalties lowered. I paid them upwards of $3000. I had a hard time getting them to return my phones calls or emails, and the few times I was able to get in touch with someone, they assured me they were taking care of everything.
Wasn't I surprised when I had a knock at my door and found a man whom had a certified letter from the IRS stating they are going to take action, drain my accounts, come after my home, etc...everyone's worst nightmare.
I ended up finding settlewiththeirs.info and they actually stopped EVERYTHING! and there was no up front fee! :)
If you are still dealing with a tax issue please contact them877-517-0067. But do NOT trust Tax MASTERS! TAX MASTERS DID NOTHING BUT ROB ME OF $3000 AND GET ME INTO MORE TROUBLE AND DEBT THAN I WAS ALREADY IN. PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM AS I DID.
I paid this company to help me with an audit from 2008 with the IRS, the refund was for a little over $8000. I was awaiting my 2011 refund of over $8000 Federal and $3000 state. The IRS took BOTH the refunds because the TaxMasters company went bankrupted on APR 12, 2012. there is on forwarding address or phone numbers. I have worked for the USAF for the last 29 years and now I have a levy on my wages, which could make me lose my clearance. I broke my back in Feb 2008 and I continue to have many problems as of today, I have now been garnished of about $250.00 every two weeks! I am now in a hardship as I have to take care of my elderly mother's assisted living home $2665.00 a month and I only have $500.00 on my check!
I had an appointment with a representative and was assured that my debt would be decreased to cents on the dollar from 70k. He said I had to sign the contract and pay their retainer fee of 8, 000(Wow!) before anything would take place. So, I called my wife and told her how they could help. I was so relieved and looked forward to letting the “professionals” represent us, and having the promise of being worry free. With all there commercials I was conditioned to think that they must be the best.
The same thing happened to me that everyone is complaining about, endless paperwork, not returning calls, more requests for the same paperwork, more missed e-mails, never being able to talk with my case representative, etc. This went for 9 months with no real progress. The IRS has placed liens and I believe we could have avoided this if I had done some research into the company first. In the meantime our debt went well over $100, 000 with interest and penalties. What a nightmare.
In the meantime my father in law had gone through a very similar situation. Difference is he did a lot of research into the company he chose. The Tax Relief Foundation. His experience with them was so inspiring that I had to talk to them myself.
What a difference a company can make! As different as night and day. Tax Relief Foundation essentially picked me up and dusted me off. Now I live stress free and would recommend these guys to anyone.
