An obvious phishing attempt sent to my personal number - SMS text message received from [protected], on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 10:13 am CST stating :
"DHL: dear customer, we regret to inform you that your package cannot be delivered due to unpaid customs duty in the amount of 3.99$. In order to settle this matter, kindly proceed to the provided link: https://tinyurl.com/2xtjz496"
Upon further investigation, "Southern Communications Services Inc" seems to be the service provider for this number. They do not seem to have any reputable or notable history as a reputable company after a simple web browser search.
Another instance of this type of phishing scam was attempted on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 10:52am; an SMS message received from [protected], in similar fashion, stating:
"DHL: dear customer, we regret to inform you that your package cannot be delivered due to unpaid customs duty in the amount of 3.99$. In order to settle this matter, kindly proceed to the provided link: https://tinyurl.com/24rk3ksj
Reply STOP to unsubscribe"
Upon further investigation, "IRISTEL Inc." seems to be the service provider company for this number. They do not seem to have any notable history as a reputable company after a simple web browser search.
Desired outcome: TINYURL should implement MFA / KYC verification to avoid people who use their service to commit nonsense like this from happening. Also, "IRISTEL INC." & SOUTHERN COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES INC." should be held accountable.
