After being injured in an automobile accident, a friend recommended a local chiropractor in town. I went to see Dr. P. Jackson. I saw him on several occasions where I received certain procedures. Of those, I received what he called manual manipulation. I was face down on a table where he used a device built into the table I was laying on. It was a type of traction I believe. He performed that procedure twice, I remember both times extremely well. I have had lumbar surgery in 2008 and was very hesitant to say the least. I was afraid it might affect where the metal had been placed during surgery in my lower back. I was in enough pain at that point to try anything. I let him try it, it seemed it may have helped somewhat but it did make me sore the next day. I saw him one other time after that appointment, he performed the procedure on me that day as well. I did not return after that day because I felt uncomfortable with him asking me to wear shorts the next time.
The auto insurance company that was handling my insurance claim requested my records, I ask Dr. Jackson on numerous occasions for them, calling and emailing him. He never released them to me. I sent him a HIPPA Patient Form requesting the information but never received the information I needed. While my claim was being settled with the auto insurance co, I ask the claim representative would she please email me a copy of my records as well as the statement of charges. Upon receiving the records and statement from the claims rep, I quickly realized why Dr. Jackson may have chosen not to released the statement nor my records to me. There were 5 charges for manual manipulation when I only received 2. I sent him a certified letter over 30 days ago as well as an email asking for the credit I felt was owed to me for services that I did not receive because the auto ins co had already paid him in full.
