I was in an auto accident on 11/5/2012. On 11/30/2012, State Farm still had not processed the claim. In fact, they had spent the entire month chasing their tails instead of calling the finance company to determine the problem. Two things happened on 11/30 (a Friday). First, I was asked by a State Farm claims agent and my agent to call the finance company. I believe they did this thinking I would have no success and side with them. to the contrary, the finance company was very helpful, told me what was needed. I called State Farm back and told them what the finance company told me. By the following Monday the wheels were rolling again. With no experience in Insurance, I did in 15 minutes what the "experts" at State Farm couldn't do in a month. The second thing that happened on 11/30 was that my Rental car coverage reached its limit. This was extended to 12/3/2012, which is the date I was informed my claims agent would be returning to work from her 2 week vacation. To cut a long story short, the rental car issue went to management, a Ms. Liza Herrman. She determined that as the policy limits was reached, they would have no more involvement in paying for the rental car.
Bottom line: State Farm totally disregards their customers. I have been with them for almost 20 years. This is my first claim. I am in a situation out of my control that I hire State Farm to deal with. Despite not dealing with the problem, their answer to their failures is to say time has lapsed, so it is now the customers problem, thank you for paying your premiums on time all these years, Goodbye. Well, I didn't go to law school to put up with hacks like this. I am preparing a law suit, which will demand much more than the cost of a rental car. If you are not a lawyer, get one before going anywhere near this company.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
