Blizzard Entertainment - Blizzard customer support, account and personal data management

Hello,
My name is George and I have an issue with my Blizzard account.
Due to inactivity and not having need of it, my old phone number, attached to the account, was deactivated and given to someone I do not know or ever seen.
I asked for it to be removed again and again and every single of the 4 GM replied to me the same broken record that I must give them a gouverment approved document to "prove" that the account is mine in order to perform the nr removal.

I refused, because not only it is illegal in my country at least but it is also meaningless since they do not have a database nor the account was created with an ID.

I asked to talk and be contacted by their team leader and they put me aside to another GM that said the same thing.

To be noted that I gave explicit explainations for why I refuse and also details that only I, the owner of the account can possibly know.

I wish to proceed with a complaint, and if nothing will be accomplished, a lawsuit.

Please let me know what should the follow-up of this complaint.
Any information is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Best regards
George

Desired outcome: Old phone number removed and the GM I talked with to apologize

it ISNT illegal for security purposes for the company to ask for your ID. they have had that policy since world of warcraft started. it is a verrification process for if you fail to answer the security questions on your account. i have had to send it many times for verification due to my account becoming locked from a glitch on the mobile app.

in the user agreement it reads "You must be and hereby affirm that you are an adult of the legal age of majority in your country and state of residence. If you are under the legal age of majority, your parent or legal guardian must consent to this agreement..." then continues in section 12 part A "the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) and regulations promulgated by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”)." later mentions not subject to limitations in usa.

usage of ID is i believe verification that you are the account holder based on whats in the account data [the city registered in, the location you placed in account], your IP address [yes they can see it based on login], and if there is something that would make you a liability to the company.

though i never questioned them on why they need it since i havent had to do anything beyond asking for resets.

Blizzard Entertainment - Battle.net account

I am wanting to post a complaint about a company that I have loved, and been a loyal patron of for years, that seems to be going downhill quickly as of late...
Blizzard Entertainment was recently acquired by Activison Publishing Inc., and has since lost their strong customer centric, technical domination of the gaming market, which has led to a great deal of very shady business practices that have notably hurt their stock, and cost them literally millions of followers.
The games / expansions they are putting out now, are technically flawed, and generally less enjoyable. Their treatment of long-standing customers is becoming pathetic. Their policy of hiding behind Terms of Service agreements, and User License Agreements as an excuse to punish anybody who peaks out against them is becoming tiresome.
They simply do not care anymore, and are losing their souls in pursuit of the almighty dollar along with their new corporate daddy Activison. They putout trash games, and ruin classic games from people's childhoods with botched attempts at remakes, because they no longer have the ability to come up with innovative ideas. They relentlessly ban / suspend accounts of anyone who questions their terrible decisions, and they are becoming heartless now in their quest to become a corporate powerhouse.
the funny thing is that all of this greed is costing them, as they are under constant fire from their patrons / players, who originally built their company up.
The main reason for this complaint is their tendency to ban accounts whenever you do not appreciate their bad decisions. They ban you from posting in the forums if you do not say how wonderful they are. They ban your actual Battle.net accounts if you expect any real help, and not links to FAQ pages which are generally useless. The LOVE to ban people, and when they finally go under because they no fan base left, they will deserve it...
STAY AWAY from this company, they are not just dying, they are DEAD!

so if i follow your complaint. your complaining about the choices blizzard has done and not exactly anything related to you? activision yes is the owner of blizzard but par their agreement the choices blizzard makes are their own and not influenced by activision itself.

can you elaborate on why they banned your battle.net account?
