Texas Roadhouse - Horrible service and dishonest waitstaff

On October 8th, 2010 around 12:30 p.m., myself and two of my friends went out for lunch at Texas Roadhouse in Colorado Springs. Upon arrival the hostess was great and got us in a timely matter. Once we were seated our waiter came by to take our order. We proceeded to order an appetizer and some drinks along with our meal. The waiter's help i suppose brought us our appetizers and drinks. Shortly after our appetizers were finished our meal was brought out to us, our waiter seeing that we were finished did not take any of our previous plates off the table and just set the meal around them and walked off. My friends and myself just looked at each other seeing there was so room to hardly eat. We then started ourselves to try to make room by piling the plates on top of each other and setting them by the end of the table so that maybe the waiter would get the hint to take the plates away. We were given no refills through out the course of the meal and did not see the waiter until he brought us our check.
After receiving our check we decided to get out of there as soon as we could, and I forgot my phone on the table. About ten minutes later when i realized that I had left the phone, i proceeded to call the restaurant to tell them to please look to see if they found it. The hostess that answered the phone proceeded to tell me that indeed that busser had found a phone on the table we were sitting at and had given it to the waiter. I told her that I would be sending a friend down to go pick it up with a description of the phone because I personally was heading to work. My friend that had gone to eat with me went to the restaurant right away to pick up my phone. As she was driving to the restaurant someone called her phone twice and when she answered there was only a bunch of noise. Thinking nothing of it she just continued to go to the restaurant. When she arrived there the hostess then told her that the waiter had gone off shift and when she called him to see where he put the phone he informed her that once the bussers gave him the phone he just put the phone back on the table. She then tried calling the phone back and the phone was shut off, when indeed it had a full battery.

My concern of this is:

1. I have worked in the food industry for more than four years, and it is common sense that when you find a customers valuables you take it to the back or give it to the manager so that when they come in for it you will have it.

2. It is very hard for me to believe that the story of the waiter putting my phone back on the table is true. I was told that the phone would be there for me to pick up and then suddenly it is gone? This gives me a very good reason to believe that the waiter in fact stole my phone. If this assumption is true, then this hiring of dishonest staff is unacceptable. If a person can steal that easy from a customer, then what do you think they are doing with the company. I can assure you that my friends, family, and myself will no longer be doing business with this establishment and will be sure to tell others about this incident.

i love the food there and will continue to go there. its a shame you didn't get your phone back but also shame on you for forgetting it. i'm not gonna lose out on a great piece of steak because of some clumsy person forgetting their phone.
