We recently purchased, paid for, and scheduled delivery for several items in-store. We also ordered and placed a down payment on other items to be delivered in the near future, as we did not currently have the space for these additional items.
I just called the store (which is 3 hours round-trip away) in order to pay the balance owed and schedule delivery. I was told that as of last year, they cannot accept payment over the phone, and that I would either have to come into the store, or go to a bank and wire the money.
I can order anything from the Ashley website, and pay for it either by debit card, credit card, or Paypal, all of which are less secure than giving my info over the phone. PLUS, the store already has my credit card info, as I paid for the other furniture and made the down payment with the same credit card.
I even spoke to the office manager. He could not explain to me the reason for this.
I do a lot of shopping over the phone, and have NEVER been denied the opportunity to pay over the phone.
