Goodwill Industries - Horrible customer service

Hello,

I just wanted to inform you of my experience today 9/9/23 at the Goodwill at

3226 Del Prado S Suit B

Cape Coral Fl. 33904

I pulled up at 8:52 AM at the drop off area, I had to get in the back of my truck to get the things that had fallen out of a laundry basket and rolled around. I set a box outside of my truck out of my way and climbed in the back to put things closer to where I could grab them. A man rudely walked out speaking to me rather rudely saying we don’t open until 9 and don’t put things on the ground. Talking to me like I’m trash! I said to him excuse me. He repeated with even more aggression as he pointed to the sign. I asked him to not speak to me like that and tried to explain I was just setting the box on the ground so I could gather the stuff that rolled around. He proceeded to grab the stuff and continued to belittle me! His name was Lonnie. I’m talking 8 minutes until they open. Not hours! It would probably have taken me that long to gather all the stuff that rolled around in back of truck. So I got in my truck pulled in a parking space and waited the 2-3 minutes to go inside and speak to the manager when the store opened at 9:00. When I spoke to the manager Sallie, her excuse for him being so rude was.. well we don’t open until 9:00 and he came in this morning in a bad mood… really? For this reason I will no longer donate to Goodwill or shop there. I will make sure my family and friends do not support Goodwill. I am a professional would never think of speaking to anyone in that manner!

How someone can still have a job that speaks to customers the way he spoke to me is unheard of. If he would have explained to me I needed to wait the 6-8 minutes, I would have been fine with that. It almost took me that long to gather everything back in the box. But in a polite way. And if Your managers are like Sallie, allowing someone to work there with that attitude, you will be getting a lot more negative feedback.

Desired outcome: Better training on customer service and management. A person like Lonnie should never be working in customer service!
