I am a police officer that had a call on 10-14-23, to responded to 3134 Canal St. to the Family Dollar Store number 12605 for a theft investigation. I made contact with the complainant, who appeared to be the manager of the store, Tiffany Bushee. Upon arrival, the manager appeared as if she was not having a good day. The manager told me I provided the license plate to the vehicle that suspect was driving to the dispatcher. I advised her that on a regular day there are a lot of people who drive other people's vehicle. I told her that I checked the tag prior to my arrival and the vehicle is possibly stolen. I asked the manager does she have video and a description of the suspect, and she stated that she was unable to review the video footage. As I was talking to the manager, I asked if she was having a bad day and she replied that people do not listen, so I asked her was she talking about her employees because there was no way that she could possibly be implying that I was not listening because this was my first interaction with her. The manager goes on to say, I have friends that work with your department and I will just call one of them. I tried to explain to her that I was there to help her, but she stated I can conduct my own investigation. The manager did not want to provide what information she had. I asked the manger, so what you're saying is that you do not need police services. The manager told me that I was not functioning and not listening because apparently, she had already provided the tag to the vehicle to my dispatcher and why couldn't I go to the registered owner address. I asked the manager for her supervisor contact information she stated she does not have a supervisor because they are in a transition. The manager told me to leave the store. Based on her statements, rudeness and disrespect that was unprofessional. As a police officer I have to remain as professional as possible with everyone that I come in contact.
Desired outcome: The manager needs to be addressed about how she conduct herself and how to talk to people.
