2015 hyundai elantra se is a lemon!
We had problems with this car for several years now, it is a (4) year lease. It is one thing after another. We had the car in for several issues. One of the issues the dealership could not even fix the problem when we turned the car back in to them. I made a list of all the issues that we are having with the car.
On november 15, 2016 with 12, 185 miles on the car, we had to replace the battery on it.
On may 22, 2017 with 15, 516 miles on the car, we had to replace (2) tires on the car because the tires were bald.
On november 03, 2017 with 18, 268 miles on the car, we had to replace the other (2) tires on the car because the tires were bald. We had problems with the car stalling. The dealership could not find anything wrong with the car. (1st) I talked to lilly about the sound I was hearing when I started the car, like I did the other times I was in with the car. No one heard the sound. She said to make a tape and bring it in so she can hear it and the tech can hear it too. When we had the car serviced several times, I told lilly about the metal on metal sound. Lilly told the tech to see if he heard anything, but he never did. It is not on any paperwork. She did not note it each time we came in.
(2nd) on january 18, 2018 with 20, 747 miles on the car, we had a problem with a sound when the car starts. When the car starts it sounds like metal on metal clinking. It does not matter if the car is cold in the morning or anytime of the day. When I start the car, it makes this sound. I made a tape of the sound so lilly and the tech can hear it. Lilly played the tape several times and played it for tech. He said he had to hear it from the car to tell where it is coming from. The tech could not hear it from the car at this time.
(3nd) february 08, 2018 with 20, 749 miles on the car, we still having the same problem with the sound when the car is started. When the car starts it sounds like metal on metal clinking. The dealership kept the car overnight. The next day the tech did hear the sound. They tested the alternator and it was bad. They had to replace the alternator on it. Even after the dealership replaced the alternator, I still had the same sound as I did before when I started the car two days later. The replacement of the alternator did not stop the sound.
(4th) on march 20, 2018 with 20, 802 miles on the car, we are still having the same sound when the car is started. It does not matter what time of the day the car is started; the same sound is still is happening. It sounds like metal on metal clinking. I had another tape for lilly, she heard the sound and the tech did not.
(5th) on october 29, 2018 with 24, 829 miles on the car. The sound is still happening. The dealership kept the car overnight to see if they can find the issues I am having with the car. Lilly contacted us the next day. The dealership did not hear the issues I heard, but they will repair what they think is the issues with the car. They just went blind on the issues that I was having with the car. They replaced the starter, the fuel level sender and bracket assy roll rod replaced trans mount. We got the car back on october 31, 2018. A few days later I was driving the car again and it is still making the same sound, metal on metal.
We had another issue with the car since 2016. I told them about the issue, but they never did anything about it or even investigated it. They just looked at me like I was nuts. The issue is this. When I fill the car up with gas the (range for the miles to go) it does not say the same thing each time. One time it will be 301, 304, 299, 289, or so on. Something is wrong with the range miles to go. Just the other day, I put gas in the car. I started the car, the range started at 279 then dropped to 256 before I even left the gas station. The range keeps dropping while I am driving.in 1 mile I go, it drops 4 miles or more. I am not in heavy traffic. I am not speeding or have anything heavy in the car. I do not even know why this issue happens. When I first had this problem, I had to get a new battery. I had the dealership check the battery for me. The battery was fine. This is happening all the time with the range issue. On october 29, 2018 the dealership replaced the fuel level sender. I just wish they took me serious before. They could have fixed this before now.
Now, as you read this, we had to replace 4 tires by 20, 747 miles on it. Replaced 1 battery by 12, 185 miles on it. Replaced 1 alternator by 20, 749 miles on it. Replaced 1 fuel level sender by 24, 829 miles on it. Still having the same metal on metal clinking sound when I start the car. This car is a lemon!
We are so afraid when the car is started is will blow up or catch on fire with my mother or myself inside. Since they can not find a thing wrong with the car. The car is still driving rough. Rougher since we got it back from the dealership.
The car is unsafe. My mom called the hyundai leasing company and told them we will be turning the car in because it is unsafe, and it is a lemon. They sent an inspector out to check the out. The inspector from the leasing company came out to inspect the car before we turn the car in. He noticed when he was inspecting the car that it was running rough. He said it should not be having this issue. He popped the hood up and felt the engine. You could see and feel the engine shaking. He made the statement that the engine should not be doing this. We passed the inspection. We turned the car in to hyundai of new port richey on november 10, 2018.
We will never buy another hyundai again. With all the issues we had with this car and now what is on the news about the car fires. We do not feel it is fair to charge us for the $400.00 fee to return the car. If the car was safe, we would have kept it.in the news it tells about the fires hyundai is having in their cars. They are not being honest with the public about the fires. The sonata, elantra, santa fe, under these conditions we are afraid to keep or get another hyundai car. The elantra se was just serviced, had low miles 24, 829, in excellent condition. The inspector even said that is was in excellent shape. The car was always garaged. We took very good care of it. We hope hyundai will junk the car because it is not safe to drive. We have reported about the car to several agencies. We were told by hyundai employees that the $400.00 is to clean and prepare the car to be sold at an auction. When we returned the car, the car was cleaned inside, washed, waxed outside and a total detailed. We should not have to pay for the $400.00. The car was perfect inside and out. It even had gas in it.
We had lilly the service advisor, karen who has been our sales lady, both said yes, this car is a lemon. Lilly stated this several times that we needed to get out of the car because of the issues we were having. This car is a lemon bev! A manager at the dealership said yes at times we do get lemons. They knew this car was a lemon but did not get us out of the lease, it was too expensive. So, we had to keep the car. They wanted us to get another car from them at the end of the lease. We do not want another hyundai because of all the problems with this one. The dealership is not honest. We asked them about the fires on the hyundai. "we do not have any fires or problems with our cars." three managers told us this when we were getting written up with lilly. She heard it too. But the manager we spoke with let it slip that they did have problems with fires, but he blames the owners and the press. Since we had problems with the car with several issues repeatedly. We had to drive this dangerous car until the lease was up. We parked the car at the end of our driveway because we were so afraid something will happen if we parked it in the garage. We were so scared to drive the car.
We were told when we leased the sonata the fee could be waived if we ever had a problem with the car. We had a sonata, accent and elantra all leased from hyundai new port richey. Karen and the leasing advisor told us this. We were told this every time we leased a car from the dealership. I do not know if it is their practice to say this to everyone or not. But we were told this several times. Since we had problems with this leased car, no one will step up. They keep saying call here or call there. We did call around and went into the dealership about the issues we are having. We get the run around.
Do you really want to trust hyundai new port richey or hyundai wesley chapel under the same ownership scott fink? Or, the hyundai brand. These lease issues happened to us but they still want to charge us the fee of $400.00 for not getting another hyundai.
