We have a 2005 C240 that worked fine until 8/11/08 when it stalled and gave up and we took it to this dealer to be fixed, they changed the catalytic converter and gave it back to us on 8/13/08. Then while driving back home that night we heard a knocking sound which we had never heard before. The very next day we took the car in again and the next day the dealer said they found water in the oil of our car. Which could have gotten there only by 2 methods, either from within the engine or from driving in water. Our engine was hydra-locked and would have to be replaced at a cost of $9000 to us which insurance would cover. We contacted insurance and they sent an adjuster and he determined that there was no evidence of our car having ingested any water through the intake. Our dealer did not do anything the next few days understandably because of tropical storm fay. On 8/27 they told us that we have a bent piston in the engine. It has occurred due to external influences and will not be covered by warranty. The last people to touch my car was this dealership, so if anything it is their liability. We could wither pay $3750 to get the engine opened and determine if there is a manufacturing defect which most likely it is not or just pay $9000 and have them install a new engine. If this is not unfair business practice I don't know what is. My car is under warranty, if there is something wrong with the engine warranty covers it. The last people to touch my car was this dealership which is when the knocking sound started, it is their responsibility to fix it with no cost to us. I am very disappointed in this dealership.

these vehicles are terrible and ruined my life. Please shut them down and imprison them . I must be compensated.
Well I must agree with both of you. I just picked up my car from the dealer (Orlando, Millenia) after a week and they did nothing to it. First I brought the car in for service with the SRS light on, went to get it the next day and driving home the SRS light came back on, drove back and they didn't want to fix it because they didn't have the propert tools! Left the car anyway and demand to have it fix, if they couldn't fix, who could? After calling and waiting for an entire week and getting upset finally spoke to a manager who has no Idea what he was talking about. Then he gave me a list of wrong items with my car but, never mention the SRS litght! figure! then when I asked for the SRS light he mention that the seatbelt buckle was broken and it was going to cost 345.00 to fix. And that point I just want to get thru the phone and slap the guy because, actually what was wrong with the SRS is that it got unplug from underneath the seat and I was afraid to plug it back in myself. I feel sorry for those people that had got ripped off by this people. Next time I buy myself an american car and fixed myself.
I too have had a problem with my C 300. Not on such a large scale but still unnerving. The valve stem on the wheel was broken off but the wheel still held air. The dealer said it was road debris and it was not covered under warranty The cost would be $180 to repair. I said your crazy and went off on the rep. Today I will take the car in and accept the highway robbers deal. No Mercedes anymore for me after this, I will buy American and avoid those crooked Mercedes underhanded practices. In summation, all car salesman and dealerships are the biggest legalized crooks in the world! Oh, by the way my dealership is Fort Lauderdale Mercedes.
I feel sorry for you in your situation but it just goes to show how the consumer will not win when dealing with the Devil.
