LETTER TO FREIGHTCENTER: I am writing about my recent experience with your company. I called to place an order to ship a dining table and 6 chairs from Decatur, GA to Fremont, CA and spoke with an agent, Alex Zizo on June 25, 2012.
- His first quote to me was $767.79 (please see attached page no. 1). I accepted reluctantly as the price was so high.
- He then put me on hold and came back on the phone a few minutes later to say the price was actually $1022.13 (Please see attached page no. 2) because Home Direct, the company moving my furniture, charges $40 per item over 4 items. I was shipping 7, i.e. 3 extra, therefore $120. In addition for the 6 chairs the cubic volume worked out to 25 lbs. of wt. not the 10 lbs. the chairs actually weigh. I was shocked that he did not know this when he gave me the first quote. Surely Freight Center agents are knowledgeable about shipping requirements!
- I was told the items would be picked up on June 26, 2012 between 12-5pm. (Please see attached page no. 3.) I hesitated to agree but he convinced me that the items would be in Fremont, CA in 1 week.
- I logged online and saw that the charge was $ 902.13. Now I was confused. (please see attached page no. 4). I called to find out what was going on and was told that the charge was $1022.13.
- I called daily to find out why my furniture had not been picked up. I was told that a local company was now in charge, Mid Atlantic, in ATL and Freight Center had no control over my shipment.
- The furniture was finally picked up a week late on July 2, 2012 (please see attached page no. 5, 6). I have tried to track it online but there has been no update for a week.
- Since the pick- up I have been trying to get information on the status of my shipment with no success. I call Freight Center, they refer me to Home Direct. I call Home Direct and they refer me to Jennifer at Freight Center since I placed my order with you. She has yet to get back to me.
I am absolutely appalled by the service I have received by Freight Center and its affiliate Home Direct USA. The service provided has been unprofessional, grossly inadequate and misleading. I have been deceived not only about the cost of transport, but also the pick- up time and the transit time to Fremont, CA. I have relocated several times as a federal employee both inside the US and overseas and have never encountered such poor service from a moving company. I did not expect a company like Freight Center with its global reputation for excellence to provide such shoddy service. I demand a full refund of the $1022.13 that has been charged to me.
SINCE THIS LETTER: SHIPMENT WAS DELIVERED ON JULY17, 2012, 2 WEEKS LATE. and to add insult to injury the furniture was not assembled at delivery.
FreightCenter - service
June 17th booked a shipment to be picked up in Wilmont, SD on Wednesday 6/22, Trucking company showed up on 6/24 thursday. Freightcenter, then tells me (when I call them on thursday because my customer is pissed) that the carrier only pickes up in that area on Tues and Thursday. Would have been nice if they had tolded me that on 6/17 when I booked the shipment. They say nothing, just took my credit card number. Two weeks later I finally get my shipment after their 2 day estimate. If they had actually look up the truck line it's a 4 day transit from the point of pick-up to where I am. I contacted the truck line directly and got the correct infomation. I reported them to BBB. They gave the stand respose of it got there and I could have paid for gurantee service. They don't even know when the truck line they are using is going to show up and when the actual transit times are. Next time I will just pay double and go directly to the truck line at least they know what they are doing.

that is par for the course. They are only good at theft. I believe Matt Brosious' middle name is scam and his [censored] of a wife loves it in the ### after a couple drinks. That is the truth fo sho. talk about white trash, wowzers! thankfully, I wore a rubber or I'd be riddled with diseases.
FreightCenter - misrepresents serevices offered by carrier
I contacted FreightCenter about a shipment of a valuable, delicate dining room table. It required "white glove" service. I was assured by the "broker" that for my >$600 that the table would have the legs removed, wrapped and placed on a pallet ON SITE. The day the table was to be picked up, the lady from whom I purchased the table (Ms. Hamilton)called me to let me know that two men with little more than a pickup truck were simply carrying the table out of the house and putting it on the truck. No wrap, blanket... nothing. Miss Hamilton then put me on the phone with one of the men and they explained that they were not equipped to package the table, as I was told they would. They then put me in contact with their "boss" who said they would return with the proper packaging equipment. Approximately one month later I received the table with numerous scratches on the surface from the bubblewrap applied directly to the surface of the table. It was NEVER placed on a pallet as advertised. Yesterday, I receive a bill for $220 for the "wait time" of the two employees and the second pickup attempt. I called FreightCenter and after much effort got in contact with a Ms. Jennifer Taylor. Quite rudely she informed that there was nothing to be done but for me to pay the bill. She states her company is "not responsible for the services rendered by the carriers". Granted, FreightCenter is NOT responsible for the scratches on the table, but THEY are responsible to deliver the service they describe to the consumer. I was "sold" white glove service and told my table would be crated and palleted on site. This did not happen. They knowingly misrepresent, per Ms. Taylor, what services are offered.

We also were subject to a reweigh scam by Pilot freight;Their managers are paid a bonus for reweighs and they rely on customers not having time to dispute.NEVER use Pilot.
DO NOT SHIP WITH FREIGHTCENTER. THEY ARE BIG LIARS AND BIGGEST MISREPRESENTATION I HAD EVER SEEN. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU JUST TO GET YOUR BUSINESS. FEW WEEKS AGO, I CONTRACTED WITH THEM TO SHIP TWO PALLETS OF TSHIRTS. THEY REASSURED ME THAT THEY WILL PICKUP THE SAME DAY SO THAT I CAN HAVE MY SHIPMENT WITHIN 2DAYS. BUT, IT TURNED OUT THAT THEY WERE JUST LYING AND DID NOT HAVE ANY INTENTION TO P/U THAT DAY AT THE SAME TIME, THEY HAD ALREADY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD. UP UNTIL TODAY, THEY HAD NOT REFUNDED THE CREDIT CARD THAT WAS USED AND ON TOP OF THAT, THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME TEN PERCENT.GCT
followup from above: i have told my credit card company to reverse the charges since Freightcenter has not responded to any of my requests for explanation. I have also files a complaint with the FL Attorney General for unethicak business practices. They already have one case active: L10-3-1214. If you have not received satisfaction from the company, go to: http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact?OpenForm&Section=Economic_Crimes and file a claim against them. The more folks that file, the stronger our case will be.
YOU ARE BEING LIED TO! THOSE ARE NOT THE CARRIERS CHARGES!
If you go into your account that you created and re-run your quote you will see that the rate there is vey different than what they are charging you. they break down your cost per pound typically and that is what they use. Also, as you know, you are getting screwed.
I suggest getting a screen shot of that actual rate you ran, dispute it with your credit card company and tell freightcenter to go eat dirt.
they are stealing from ANYONE who gets a rebill and you can fight it. I did! Don't take their crap and post this information all over the place. I saw on BBB they have a C+ that is almost failing! No wonder they take advantage of us.
Fight back against them and you will see your credit card company will help. Also, I suggest filing a small claims case in your hometown since they are not charging you the right rate. They will have to hire a lawyer or get to your city to go to court. You'll win and if they default, you have a judgement against them.
On January 11, 2011 we contracted with FreightCenter (account rep: Russell Pappalardo) and Pilot Freight Services to deliver our merchandise from Illinois to California, which weighed 390 lbs. and pallet dimensions of 40x48x60. Our quote specified that Pilot Freight Services would deliver in 4-5 days for $490.00. We paid FreightCenter $490.00, received a Bill of Lading and Pilot Freight picked up our merchandise on January 11, 2011. Pro and tracking numbers were attached to the BOL in order we could track on behalf of our customer. However, we could NOT track through the pro and tracking numbers and was advised by our account rep Russell Pappalardo of FreightCenter that it would take 12 hours to update. That update NEVER occurred throughout the 14 days it took Pilot to deliver our merchandise.
On 1/19/2011, Pilot advised us that the freight was delivered and signed for by “G. Gieger”, which we told our customer that it was delivered and signed for! Our customer denied receiving our merchandise and he knew no one by the name of “G. Gieger.” A couple of hours later Pilot called and said they made a mistake, she had read the wrong column, and that our merchandise was not delivered and would be delivered the next day.
Finally, on 1/25/2011, 14 days later and a lot of run-arounds, Pilot finally delivered our merchandise, which incurred damages.
On or about 2/2/2011, FreightCenter placed a malicious and fraudulent charge of $1, 229.28 on our credit card, which was denied, claiming Pilot Freight had a “ReBill for Weight-(Additional dimensional weight 156 lbs 7.88/lb. Balance due of $1, 229.28.”
We advised FreightCenter that the additional charge of $1, 229.28 was a malicious scam and fraudulent charge and on our behalf to dispute and deny Pilot Freight of this fraudulent charge. Pilot Freight has a pattern of charging outrageous additional charges after delivery is made claiming a “reweigh adjustment.” This is a conspiratorial credit card scam by FreightCenter and Pilot Freight.
On 2/25/2011, Karen Bush of Freight Center emailed our company a “payment reminder” as follows:
“Dear Customer:
Just a friendly reminder that you have the attached overdue invoice(s) on your account. If you have any questions about the amount you owe, please give us a call at [protected] ext 1084 and we’ll be happy to discuss it. If you’ve already sent your payment, please disregard this reminder.
We appreciate your continuing business, and we look forward to hearing from you shortly.
Sincerely,
Accounts Receivable
FreightCenter, Inc.

We replied that we DO NOT owe this amount and that we would bring this matter to the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General of the State of Florida against FreightCenter and Pilot Freight for conspiracy to commit credit card fraud, and voice our complaint on the Complaints Board alongside numerous complaints against FreightCenter and Pilot Freight regarding fraudulent credit card charges.
BEWARE OF FREIGHT CENTER and PILOT SERVICE, they conspire to commit credit card fraud!
I hired Freightcenter as a broker to move an eames lounge and ottoman from Dc to Atlanta. i was quoted $184 for 50# and cubic foot charge. Just yesterday I received a "billing adjustment" invoice for $1, 008.25 for an additional rebill for 285# at $3.45 per pound! i weighed the chair - 51#. The Herman Miller sight show shipping weight WITH PACKAGING at 74 pounds. i sent all info to Freightcenter to adjust and have indicated that i will challenge the charge to my credit card. We will see what happens - i will update when i have more information
I had similar situation. Go through your credit card company, all the way to the CEO if you have to and then report to BBB. They seem to respond to that.
I was quoted a price of well over $500 to ship something. I told Freight Center that I has 3 other shippers who would ship for less, at $500 even and that I was still shopping for a better price. Freight Center called me back and informed me that they would ship it for $375. I took them up on the offer and after receiving the shipment, they send me a bill for an additional $980 on top of the $375 that I already paid. I refused payment, having no written agreement with them of any kind, but they billed my credit card for the full amount. I have yet to gain any satisfaction or refund from this fraud!
FreightCenter shafted me too. They quoted a price, estimated the shipping insurance. I booked with them to ship an aircraft engine. Shortly after they ran my credit card, they increased the insurance from "about $100", to nearly $2000. I immediately canceled the shipment through them. Six weeks later, they still have not refunded the shipping charges. They claim that I didn't properly cancel. I asked for the cancellation procedure again, they told me the exact same procedure. I have proof that I FAXed the document per their requirement, but they still refuse to issue a refund. When will the government step in to stop these thieves? They are committing credit card fraud!
Freightcenter is famous for misrepresentation and they don't care about the lies that are told on behalf of the shipper (Pilot Freight Services) to get out of paying a claim of stolen items from shipments. I filed a claim within 2 days to both Pilot and Freightcenter on a stolen item from my shipment. I waited 6 months and received a denial from paying the claim because Pilot said they were not notified within 3 days of the missing item. They outright lied about the facts and Freightcenter condoned their criminal behavior by letting them get away with their lies and fraudulent acts. I will never use freightcenter or Pilot again and will do my best to let everyone I know to stay away from these two criminal enterprises.
