Safelite AutoGlass - employment practices

I was an excellent employee of your company for two months. I did whatever I was told and had no performance complaints from customers or management. Unfortunately, just before my 60 days rolled around, I had to take someone to court for domestic violence. My immediate supervisor suggested a Voluntary Resignation, which I made the mistake of signing. She seemed to have good intentions but I shouldn't have believed them. I was suffering from PTSD at the time, which I made clear to her. I got the Voluntary Resignation on October 4th.

By late October, I was feeling better and ready to get back to work. I was looking forward to being part of Safelite. I believed in the Safelite Spirit. Not anymore. The way I was treated by middle management in your Hiawatha branch was despicable. Someone from Columbus called me and said to come in to sign rehiring papers. An interview would not be necessary. Just sign the papers, you'll be put back into a training class, and I was a good sport about this. We can always learn more. I even accepted being paid a dollar an hour less than I had earned the first time. My trainer told me that as long as I followed the expectations that were set, I would be respected and treated well at Safelite. Unfortunately, he was wrong and I had to find that out the hard way.

On November 1rst, I headed into the Hiawatha branch ready to sign the papers and be rescheduled as I was told would happen over the phone by a recruiter. You record those conversations, right? You claim to do so. I decided to head into Hiawatha early to sign my rehire papers, as I was told on the phone by Safelite Corporate that I'd be doing. This is where my day took a significant downturn. My appointment was at 1, but I thought I'd show up early. Why not get a jump on the day?

The hiring manager ushered me into a little room. She couldn't understand why they weren't just bringing me back and were making me go through training again, as well as wanting to pay me a dollar less than I'd worked my way up to while there the first time. They acted as if I had never worked there.

My supervisor, Brandy Hedgman, had given me a Voluntary Resignation, which I took so that I could deal with the Domestic Violence Trial in District Court where I was the Plaintiff and where I was navigating the legal system for the first time on my own. I was honest with them. My immediate Supervisor was compassionate and suggested this break, saying I could certainly return when I was ready.

She may have had good intentions, but Safelite did not. As the hiring manager was filling out the forms for my new schedule, her boss burst into the room and started berating me for not having come prepared for an interview. Excuse me? The recruiter on the phone said there would be no interview. It wouldn't be necessary. I made the mistake of believing her. The hiring manager's boss burst in and took over the meeting, yelling at me for not coming dressed for an interview despite the fact that I was told that this WASN'T to be an interview. "Every day is an interview", she sneered. So much for work/life balance and boundaries. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I took what that company said to me at face value and trusted them. We all know how naive that is. Employees are nothing but numbers to be exploited in the eyes of Safelite, and they made that very plain. They told me to leave, saying that they would call me. I knew better than to believe them.

So how about this, maybe be up front with potential hires. Don't mislead them. You already have enough problems in the sate of MN with misleading customers.
