On 9/11/21 I took my car to Firestone in Joplin, no to Replace struts, replace shocks, replace sway bar links, wheel alignment, wheel balance, tire rotation, & complete vehicle inspection.
Mechanic recommended rear brakes be added. I approved that change. Mechanic recommended a test because my coolant reserve tank looked low. I explained I had just had the radiator replaced one week prior and it was likely due to that.
On my drive home, I was disappointed to find no change in the way the car hit lines and bumps in the road. When I got home and opened the hood, I discovered a busted battery cover, a dent in the hood, and a new cap on the coolant reservoir.
These damages occurred when the mechanic attempted to close the hood with the coolant reservoir cap sitting on the battery cover. No one disclosed this to me when I paid $1,223.71 for my services.
I missed work and returned with the car on 09/13/21 to report it didn’t feel like the struts, shocks, alignment, wheel balance, and tire rotation had even been completed and to report that I was displeased that they didn’t disclose the damages they were responsible for. The mechanic admitted in front of me that he didn’t balance and rotate my tires, perform the alignment, or replace the sway bar links, yet I paid for those services and wasn’t refunded.
I was there for more than 3 hours while they worked on my car. My new employer was not happy with me. When I left that day, the car drove slightly better for maybe 1-2 miles before going right back to the way it had been. I had to get to work though. My employer was not pleased that I arrived 2 hours before close as it was.
For days, I tried to reach the manager by phone to no avail. I wrote a review online. That got the manager’s attention. He left a voicemail for me to call him. For weeks, I tried to return his call and I would be told he was out of the office, he didn’t have voicemail, and they couldn’t take a message. I was getting frustrated. I believe I emailed corporate after this went on for so long. The manager, again, left a voicemail in response to my email and gave the hours he is in the office. Again, the MANY times I called, I was given the same runaround as before.
I had my struts tested the other day and was told they are either the wrong struts or they were installed incorrectly. This has caused serious damage to my tires that weren’t even a year old at the time of my appointment. I want my money back for all of the services that weren’t done and/or were done incorrectly and I want to be reimbursed for damages Firestone is responsible for. That’s $1223.17 I paid and $375 for tires. I have my receipts and statements, etc. I will be happy to upload those items, if you would like.
I had been playing phone tag with the manager since September. I kept trying to resolve this issue up until December.
On December 5, my father unexpectedly died. I performed CPR and dialed 911 and witnessed his death. That is why I went silent for a couple of months. Customers shouldn’t have to spend so much time and energy just trying to get what they paid for! I will not let this go. No one should spend that kind of money and have their car DAMAGED rather than repaired.
Desired outcome: Please refund $1223.71 for services not completed and services completed incorrectly. Please pay $375.00 for damage to my tires caused by incorrect strut placement.
