On Saturday August 10th 2019 I came thru the drive-thru at Captain D's on Eastway Drive Charlotte North Carolina. While I was waiting for my order I was reading the signs on the windows and noticed that one of them said if we fail to give you your receipt, your meal is free, void if you leave and come back. The cashier took my money and gave me my change but never gave me a receipt. A different young lady bagged my food and never gave me a receipt either. When I received my food I pointed out the sign and she reach back in real quick and handed me my receipt. I said you only gave it to me because I mentioned the sign and the transaction was already completed and you give me the meals without a receipt. She replied I'm giving you your receipt now. Again I told her it's too late you already said goodbye and then I pointed it out to you. She told me that that only applies if you leave and I have not given you your receipt. I told her that is not what the sign says it says void if I leave. She said that her manager explain to her that it was only if I left. I said, that's not what the sign says and she said I know what the sign says but I'm telling you that's not what my manager said. She went on to say that the girl that gave me my change was new and I said well I'm sorry but that does not void what the sign says. She said that sign has been there forever and I told her if it was not valid it should be taken down. I asked to speak to her manager. She said she was the manager. I asked for her name. She gave me her last name "Sellers". Not sure if this is the correct spelling but I asked for her store manager or regional manager's name and number. Rather than give me the information she said I can call my manager and if she says give you back the money I'll give it back but if she says no I can't give it back. She came back and said she could'nt get her manager on the phone. Again I asked for the information and she told me she was not going to give me a refund and that I needed to leave her window or she was going to call the police. I said, what? You're going to call the police? She said yes. I asked, what for? She said I was holding up her line but there was no one behind me so I don't see how I could be holding up her line. All I wanted was for her to give me her store manager or regional manager name and number and she refused. I told her I wasn't leaving without it so she showed me on her phone she was calling 91. I listen to what she said on the phone and she said that she needed an officer because I was holding up her line and she felt threatened. I never threatened her, I never spoke in a high tone. I just kept asking for her store manager or regional manager's name and number. At this point I pulled over to the side and waited for police to arrive. I waited for approximately 40 minutes and they never arrived so I left. Whether or not she actually called them or they came, I do not know. After I had waited with no arrival I went into the store and gave her my name an address to give to the officer if he wanted to speak to me. I waited because I had done nothing wrong and I didn't and I felt like she was trying to intimidate me. If indeed she was the shift manager she should have been able to handle the situation better. I still do not have information about her manager and that's why I am sending this email. I am quite sure that her failure to give me my receipt can be seen on drive through cameras. I respectfully ask for the refund that is do to me for my meal because I was not given my receipt as advertised on the drive-thru window and I want an apology for how I was treated. Your attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Tammy Roberts
