Target - guest experience etl from hell

I am a single mother of one trying to get by and trying to take care of my daughter. After a year of working for this company. I have been employee of the month twice. Ive had open availability. I have struggled with babysitter after babysitter to stay loyal to this job. I fell upon the decision of putting my child into a daycare facility and had to change my availablity based upon the day care.. This supervisor from hell. Hasnt been there longer than 6 months..in her short time at the company. She has managed to fire and push many great team memebr to no longer work for this company.. She is racist and she talks down to people both young and old.. This woman said very nastily that she denied my availablity which is 8-5 simply because my daughters daycare opens at 7am and I rely on public transportation to get to and from work.. And the daycare closes at 6 and I am the sole care taker of my daughter. My hours got drastically cut and 2 people were hired to take my spot.. My hr refuses to do anything about this situation.. I have offered numerous times to work in any other department including bathrooms! And after doing so much for this company. And soo much more I am booted out as an unvauable team memeber and I am told that I no longer meet the needs of the busniess.. But yet positions open up and get filled and I never seem to amount to enough for this company.. Target donated to charites and does good on the outside. But the people who really make target what it is are not valued...

If your boss is truly being racist then you should escalate it past HR if you have proof or others that will vouch for you.

However, Target has the right to terminate you based upon your availability. You should have taken their offer of other departments. Everyone would love to work 8-5, and even though you are having hardships (which many people are and you are not the only one), Target does not have to tolerate them. Also, legally they are able to cut hours at any time they please, as with every non-contract and/or non-full time job. I know a lot of single mothers struggling in minimum wage jobs, but they find a way to make it work. It may be hard, but you are not the only person with troubles.

I should think that the two of you have jobs that pay more than $8.50 an hour therefore your employer expecting you to go above and beyond is warranted . I've seen the interactions going on behind the scenes at this particular Target first hand and to say that a single mother needs to suck it up is not only callous it sounds uninformed. Do you have small children molliewollie or 123321? If you do, you may or may not have had childcare issues and if you did have to deal with them, "suck it up" was probably the last thing you wanted or needed to hear. I'm sure if she was sitting on her behind collecting free benefits that our tax dollars pay for you would complain about that as well, she seems to be trying to make it work with what she has and your essentially bashing her for wanting to be recognized for her work. I have seen employees with years of experience be passed over for well deserved promotions, train their new superiors only to have those new people come in and break every last rule and tenet that the previous employee (s) had worked hard to establish. There is a reality at every workplace that the customers/clients will never experience and for you to disregard her complaints of maltreatment/racism as complaining because she can't get her way makes you sound dismissive as if neither of those exist in the workplace. I'm not saying that her accusations are true, but neither you or I are there so we don't know what's going on behind the scenes so take it with a grain of salt. Now, you two were so focused on the hours that she had submitted completely forgetting that she had made attempts to maintain her previously set hours. You also seemed to have missed where she said they cut her hours and proceeded to hire new people to fill the hours she had vacated so obviously filling time is not a company problem, her issue, from what I see, is that since she's already there why can't those hours be filled by her when she can and is more than willing to be there. Requesting to work around a specific schedule where you're not the only one who comes in on a daily basis to do that particular job is not a far-fetched or ridiculous request, it happens every day. Some requests are granted and some aren't. This young woman seems to be in one of those situations where she just can't seem to win and doing her best to not quit. I don't see anything wrong with being angry at being kept in a dead-end situation by thing not under your own control; everyone has done it at one point or another.
