After doing business with Enterprise over the years for the majority of my car rental needs, I decided to call them and get a rate on a rental. After talking with the representative, he asked if my Visa card was a credit card or debit card. I told him it was a debit card. Well, he then told me that they would charge a $250 deposit on the card, and then to add the icing to the cake, he then requests that I bring into their office a copy of a utility bill showing my current address, along with documentation of proof of income. Well, I didn't have a problem with bringing in a paper that showed my current address, but I absolutely refuse to bring in documentation that tells them how much money i make. First of all, it is none of their business of what my monthly income is, and secondly, I'm paying them a $250 deposit towards the car, so that should not be necessary. I called their corporate office and spoke with a manager by the name of Hasan, and he told me he would escalate my complaint to the regional manager and he would call me back in 5 days on this issue. Well this Hasan, never fulfilled on his obligation in calling me back, like he promised, so I called back into the corporate office to inquire into this complaint. The lady who helped me said she would re-submit my complaint and get me a quick resolution to it. Well later in the day, I received a phone call from this Joel, who identified himself as the region manager, and I explained my frustrations with him on this complaint. He sarcastically said that we do that because people take off with our cars and don't return them. He also gave me this ridiculous excuse that their company gives out $20, 000 to $40, 000 cars to rent...yeah right! A small newer economical car costs less than 15, 000 and this Joel talked like they were gonna give me a damn Cadillac or Lexus. And obviously this company is too cheap to put in a gps tracking device into their vehicles to track there whereabouts. I can't say I feel sorry for this poor excuse of a business when they get ripped off, when they could avoid the problem of theft by installing a gps tracking device into the car! This arrogant manager basically made me feel like it was my fault they got ripped off from bad customers. I told him I would not rent from their company anymore because of this discriminatory business practice. With this kind of crappy customer service, I will go elsewhere and patronize another car rental agency that appreciates my business and one that does not discriminate. Stay the HELL AWAY from this crooked car rental place. They are running a shoddy business!

This exact thing happened to me in the Fresno, Ca. Auto Center branch, last week. Except since my utility bill stated my bill was overdue (which it wasnt because i paid it), i had to put the electric company on speaker phone for everyone in the office to hear tell the customer service rep that my bill was paid. They ended up charging me $350 deposit because they said we were unemployed since the account had no employment information. When my husband and myself opened the account up, they never asked for income verification and we rent cars every few months from them. This is the first time they've ever treated us poorly. We did call corporate who stated to us that this is not how they should be conducting business. But obviously by reading your comment and others on the web, this is most certainly EXACTLY how they conduct business. I need to see an attorney. This is wrong. This company is backward, sexist and discriminating.
