For the past 12 years I have worked at this location 222 Portion Road Ronkonkoma New York in the position of CSR /Asst.Manager.
Beginning of 2019 the acting Store Manager basically stopped coming to work. Weather or not local Management was aware of the situation nothing was done to rectify it. By default I took on the responsibility of Manager on my own a necessity local Management was well aware of what was going on at this location at this time.
At the end of January, 2021 the acting Manager was terminated more than a year passed. After nearly 12 years as a dedicated employee local Management did not even consider me for the position of a Store Manager although I performed a outstanding job as a acting Store Manager during this time compensated at a Assistant Manager level.
I was next informed by my DM that a new Manager named Will was coming here from Brentwood to manage this location two weeks ago Will informed me that he will be out of the store for training that a holding Store Manager will be at the store during his absence. Will wanted me to inform him about thing that were going on in the store The holding store Manager was there to make sure trucks were completed.
Since the Holding Manager started she has cornered me on no less than 3 occasions speaking to me in a threatening manner making me feel unsafe.
On Tuesday March 2, 2021 I arrived at the store 7:30 a.m to find a space heater on beyond the cash wrap, cash in the drawer. I took pictures as instructed forwarding them to Will. Will called me to discuss the pictures and the money was found in the register not in the safe.
During the day the Holding Manager cornered me yet again. She was the person on duty the night before and told me in a threatening manner that she was the Store Manager and I was not allowed to send pictures to anyone again. I replied by telling her I don't like the way you are speaking to me I have been here 12 years and you are not my supervisor her reply was I dont care how long you have been here. I felt unsafe and walked away.
Today March 4, 2021 the Holding Manager informed me that I was getting written up for insubordination I replied by telling her I am not acknowledging that cause I was told you were not my boss and you had your duties and I have mine.
In 12 years as a Family Dollar employee I have had to endure a lot of issues with local Management . I have never had a write up and furthermore working alongside this Holding Manager continue to make me uncomfortable and I feel this is a hostile work environment and I feel unsafe around her.
On Thursday the D.M is coming to the store to speak to me .He says the reason why I am being written up is because I was suppose to send the pictures to him not to Will I feel like I am being attacked by this Holding Manager who will be gone by Saturday and the DM for no reason I was only following direction given by my acting Manager Will before he left for training.
Furthermore, I do not understand why they placed this Holding Store Manager in Will's absences since I have been acting as a Store Manager for a year and a half and performing with satisfactory .
In closing, I completed the physical January inventory with my staff on our own and I was commended for our outstanding work by local Management citing this inventory was the lowest in 11 years.
I require HR intervention to resolve this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
Thank you for your time,
Julie DePaolo
