Moose International - Lack of concern for members requests

Recently (21 October 2023) Moose Lodge 1645 had a small fire caused by a rodent (squirrel) that had chewed through an extension cord used to power a heater in the external area of the lodge used by the members that smoke or vape. An ABC dry chem extinguisher was discharged containing and extinguishing the fire. The local fire department responded to verify any extension and determine cause and ensure fire was completely out. Since that time, a supposed meeting has taken place to determine the future of that area involved. From rumors, they voted to clean up the mess caused by the release of the dry chem, which is a very caustic substance, and to do what the membership has been asking to be done for the past 3 years. We have requested that the electric be ran correctly, a roll up door system be put in place to protect against the elements of Ohio weather. The members asking for this even started stapling cash to the rafters. That money was taken down and no one knows the answer as to where it went or how it was used. The updates requested then were never done. Now, we have a fire due to the lackluster commitment by the elected officials. Fast forward to now (31 October 2033), the dry chem powder has not been cleaned up, it is most likely caused damage to any and all patio furniture that has been completely covered in chemical, repair work has not been initiated, and there is still no response by the lodge.

With this lack of movement on the part of the elected officials of Moose 1645, the membership that are smokers are forced to stand out in the cold, rain, and snow. Those same individuals that are sports fans can’t enjoy the lodge they belong to in the manner that they wish, watching football with a drink and a cigar, vape, cigarettes etc.

This inaction is completely unacceptable and many members have mentioned not renewing, going elsewhere, and even having a vote of no confidence in the elected leadership of 1645.

Desired outcome: Expedite the cleaning and repairing of the exterior area. Have the elected officials held accountable for their lack of concern and lackadaisical behavior.
