Geisinger Health System

I was referred to this new Geisinger clinic by Internal Medicine in Danville. I was having problems with left hand mobility and the on-call doctor was concerned and asked me to be seen there right away. The receptionist was nice and the x-ray tech was nice. But that's about all I can say about this place. The nurse was not mean but barely even spoke to me I was berated by Dr. Sewak upon his entry into the exam room with all sorts of comments like "who referred you here?" Why are you in here? This issue is something you should have been dealing with all along."I tried to explain to him that I was in here for pain and the on-call doctor had referred me. Dr. Sewak looked at my hands and told me it was osteoarthritis of the hands. I asked about hand surgery and he said there is no hand surgery for arthritis and then I told him well Geisinger did surgery on my friend's hand for her arthritis but that of course it was quite bad at the time. He then sat in the chair and began berating me over and over saying?"why do you keep asking about hand surgery? And again, he kept saying, Why do you keep harping on this?" He was really rude and weird because I wasn't harping on it. I only asked a question. The entire time I remained calm and tried to be friendly and warm him up, but it was a waste of breath. He was so bitter.
I left feeling really confused albeit glad I got what I felt was a decent diagnosis. Why was I even in there if no one wanted to treat me or talk to me! These doctors are getting weird. Another word of advice - DO NOT GET GEISINGER INSURANCE. If you have a complaint, its been my experience that they wont hold their own people accountable. Best to work with an outside insurance. Also the more you complain to Geisinger the more they treat you like an outcast instead of focusing on their own internal problems. It's a cruel wheel to be stuck on. I plan to move as soon as I am able, just because the medical care is so horrid anymore..
