A few months ago I had brought in some items to sell. I normally would bring my items to sell in a duffel bag, but unfortunately I was not able to do this as I was fleeing from an abusive relationship and packed everything I had up into trash bags. When I brought in some items to sell, I was greeted by an employee named Savannah. She asked me if I had sold before, I said yes. She then proceeded to stay, "Next time if you could just like not bring them in a trash bag, like use a reusable bag. It's okay for today but next time just keep that in mind."
I appreciate and respect the encouragement for using reusable bags, as I normally would bring my items in a reusable bag, but this employee's delivery was very rude and came off as chastisement. She was pretentious, judgmental and demeaning with her greeting. I was very upset, especially since I use to be a manager at Plato's in New York. I called my sister, who is an owner of multiple Plato's, and asked her if this was new practice. She said absolutely not. She asked me if I wanted her to say something, but I told her no and tried to not let it bother me.
Truthfully, it did bother me. I didn't shop there for a few months until today. Today I was shopping, looking through the jeans. I heard someone frantically shifting hangers around and could see the H-rack an employee moving some clothes around. I thought to myself, "Man, I hated rack maintenance."
Soon the employee comes to the aisle I am in, there is no one else in this aisle. I realize she isn't doing rack maintenance but just straightening (frantically). She gets closer and closer to me, and it was to the point I wondered if she would go around me or if she was going to get right on top of me. She didn't stop, she kept pushing at the hangers where I was looking and says, "Excuse me" and slides directly into where I was looking, moving hangers back and forth. I had to step back, or else she would've physically collided with me. She didn't go around me or even go to the other side of the aisle, she forced me to move out of where I was looking.
I stood there pretty shocked, staring at her to see if she would turn around and realize how rude she had just been. While I'm looking at her, I realize it is the same employee from my last experience. I said to her, "What's your name?" She said, "Savannah." I said nothing after that and she didn't say anything, either. Not a "you finding everything okay" or even a "I'm sorry." It was pretty tasteless.
I hated corporate complaints when I managed, as usually the customer 9/10 blew things out of proportion. However, I have been so disappointed these last few times I have been to this Plato's by this specific employee I feel I needed to put it in writing as I know this is not someone who is a positive representation of Plato's Closet.
