Here's my Yelp review written shortly after the incident that captures the details:
I just had the worst fast food experience of my 64-year life at this location. I pulled up to the drive-through speaker at 4:46 pm and placed an order for a 12 piece shrimp dinner and a country style fish dinner. I waited and waited and waited in line, with only one car in front of me. I finally made it to the window after 20 minutes and was told to pull up out front and they'd bring my food out. I waited another 20 minutes there, then went inside to see what the problem was. I told the young smarty pants working behind the counter, I've been waiting 40 minutes, if my food's not ready just give me my money back. A dumpy-looking lady was also in the front working the register and she said, we've got a lot of people. Then she handed the car at the window their food. I said, I've been waiting 40 minutes and you just gave them their food! She screams, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T ORDER WHAT YOU DID! (what does that even mean?) The younger girl fumbled around with several boxes of food in the window, and then said, here's yours. It was not a country style fish dinner, it was battered fish. I said, that's supposed to be country fish. She started to tell the cooks about it but I said, just give me my money back. She said, I'll give it to you when "she" comes up here (never explaining to me exactly who "she" was). I waited another couple of minutes, being totally ignored, then said I WANT MY DAMN MONEY BACK, GIVE ME MY MONEY. "She", whoever she was, had apparently not even been called up to the front. The girl says, in a shouting voice, YOU AIN'T GONNA COME IN HERE AND TALK LIKE DAT TO ME, GET OUT OF HERE. I said, NO, give me my money back! The other woman started yelling at me, telling me how rude I was and all kind of other stuff. I just said, GIVE ME MY MONEY! I DIDN'T PLAN TO SPEND SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT CAPTAIN D'S! They are both shouting at me, the younger one telling me to leave, and I said, not until I get my money back. It took ANOTHER 3 or 4 MINUTES before this apparent "she" came out, and came to me at the counter. The whole time the idiot employees are mouthing off at me, and I'm mouthing off right back. I said, I just want my money back. She fumbled around at the register, finally opened it and gave me my money. All the while the other 2 are making smart-[censored] comments at me, which I was trying to ignore. I went outside and warned the (by now) 12 or 13 cars in line that they were in for a looooong wait, and good luck if you want your money back. The guy who had been behind me in line said, I was just behind you and I've been sitting here this whole time. I told him he is in for a bad time. I left and went around a 1/2 mile to Wendy's (good service, FAST food). As I rode by Captain D's probably 15 minutes later, that guy's car was still sitting there, him still waiting for his food.
That's the review. Now for the follow-up. I called Captain D's complaint line and shared the experience. The next day, a supposed regional manager named Terry called. I told him what happened. He said he would be in that particular store on Tues. He would address these serious issues and get back to me.
It's now Thurs. and no word from Terry. I just called him and he brusquely asked what I needed. I said, you told me you'd follow up with me but I haven't heard from you. He said, well the little black girl who screamed at you is quitting anyway [so apparently they intend to do nothing about her], and the manager will speak to the other girl who was involved.
That's it. No punishment, no real action, no follow-up. What a joke. And Terry didn't even say "sorry for all the trouble". He said, anything else? Yeah, how about doing your job?
Desired outcome: The employees in question should not be working with the public. Does Captain D's really allow their employees to scream at customers who've been waiting 40 minutes for their food and ask for a refund?
