Well I start with I walked and no one greeted or even approached me and went and got some produce to purchase. I know nothing about the company except I knew you had to be a member to purchase items in store. So I thought I would ask about it when I got to the front "I thought no big deal" anyway I expect someone to be helpful instead I found rudeness. I get to the register and the cashier was kind of rude by saying I had to be a member to purchase. But this is what was worse the boy I will say that was with her was the worse. He said in a tone of you are unworthy to be here, like I had a disease. "How did you get in here" I was so upset I did know what to say and walked out. What I am saying if this company wants to grow they need to teach their associates some manners. Their is a way to handle any situation without being rude. This boy I will say made it look like this was a elite company and only the most important are allowed. He made me feel as though I was a poor or illiterate person and that I was not good enough for them. So maybe someone like me who has been customer service should come and teach them.

You were in the wrong here. There are signs all over about memberships, including massive signs outside that say MEMBERS ONLY in red lettering, and there is SUPPOSED to be someone at the door making sure every person who enters has a card for this exact reason (if there was really no one there, that's their bad), hence the employee's comment about you getting in there. There is a massive red desk that says MEMBERSHIP. You just said you were aware that you had to be a member to purchase, so why didn't you become one/inquire BEFORE shopping? What if you inquired at the register and weren't interested/didn't have the proper forms of payment? ### the employees, they can put all my stuff back for me/let me shop anyway cause I'm a special snowflake.
Also, you can technically sign up at the register, but that's incredibly rude. All the people behind you are already members that are prepared to pay and get out of the store, and you're holding up the line because you aren't a member. Have you ever signed up for anything that took zero time to fill out forms/take payment for the membership/explain the membership benefits? I doubt it.
Costco has excellent customer service, easily the best of anywhere I've been. It's not some stuck up elitist ###. They don't make money off the items, they make it all off of memberships. Membership fees and restricting payment options are what allows them to keep costs down. But that system only flows nicely if the customers coming in follow directions.
