This place was a total rip off. I took my female cat to get spade and they charged me over $439 I was quoted $360. She was in heat and already had kittens. I had previously called around to other places and "assumed" it would be in the same ballpark of around $150. When I was quoted the amount day of the surgery. I questioned the absurd pricing and wondered if they could knock off any unnecessary items. They said they could not because of the condition she was in. The lady justified the price this way. Then the shock of getting the bill afterwards...$100 for medication, $35 office visit and they also were trying to set up a follow up visit for an additional office fee and possibly more meds. It wasn't till after, when I found out that I had been ripped off by talking to other pet owners and called around to see if what this lady was telling me was true. I will never go there again. The staff was unhelpful and didn't explain post surgery procedure care. Plus, when I was trying to get directions they did not tell me they were located within Pet Smart, all they said was that they were located at the cross streets of 75 and Stacy. So the whole time I was searching around the shopping center for a building office suite 2210. It would've been more helpful if they had mentioned they were within Petsmart. It could've saved a lot of frustration looking for business address and looking for an actual store sign with Banfield Pet Hospital written on it. *Additionally, I saw a chart on the other side of the counter where there was a list of "up-charges" for competition, it was some sort of incentive sales bonus/benefits for the sales staff. By each name there were tally marks for each individual who could up-sale innocent customers for financial gain whether or not the animal actually needs or requires. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I will never jeopardize the health of my animals or trust the care Banfield provides. As a 'new' pet owner I feel like this company took advantage of the me. I will gladly drive 30-40 minutes across town to a pet vet who truly cares about animals and their owners. After finding this site, at least I don't feel completely humiliated. I realized that I'm one of MANY who have been ripped off by these scam artists posing as respected vets in the field.

I do not have the Wellness Plan and I did not qualify for the Care Credit through Banfield. I am a full time student and surviving off of student loans and I am a Petsmart customer and have been for many years. I understand that Banfield Pet Hospital not part of Petsmart and the service I recieved was very unethical. I took my cat Jasper in that had scratched his ear and it caused a Hematoma and filled up with fluid. They asperated it and drained it and said that is all they can do and it might fill up again and surgery will be necassary. I told them I am on school funds and I do not have the $600 for the surgery so they sent him home. I took him back the next day due to it filling up again after paying almost $300. They informed me that he has a blood clot that is causing it and to put him down or do they surgery. Jasper is not that old and he was still eating and drinking and I am not gonna give up on him when he still has life in him. I had them do the surgery and they put him to sleep and did a drain in his ear with sutures and he stayed all day for observation. I brought him home that evening of July 15th and kept the cone on his head to prevent him scratching the area for ten days. I took him back in a week and the drain was removed and Dr Gomez said that it looked good and he should do well now but to leave the cone on while it heals. I had Jasper back in the Pet Hospital on Thurs because the drain /surgery did not work and his ear is full of fluid again. They said there is nothing we can do now but to asperate it and do the surgery again and sent him home without even looking at the infected ear. I informed them that they got all my money and I can not keep going through the same procedures over and over again. They said that there is no guarantee on the services that the Banfield Pet Hospital provides to animals. They get your money and are not willing to help you with your pet that is also a family member once the services have been rendered . I should be entitled to a refund since my cat is not doing good now and his ear is goona close up and is also in pain due to the fluid in his ear. I will be taking my cat and services elsewhere such as the ASPCA or Humane Society .

Did you solve the problem? If not, I can ask a vet here if you provide a clear description of your problem, and see if we can help somehow, without having to pay a fortune to lousy doctors.
Best of luck with Jasper, I hope he gets better. It really doesn't sound that bad, so I presume it's just crappy medicine.

Get your facts straight. Banfield is NOT marketing Pet Armor...that is a walmart product
This statement is not pertaining to the previous case; however it is important! The new product Banfield is marketing is. Pet Armor: URGENT**** DO NOT GIVE THIS TO YOUR CATS****IT IS KILLING THEM!
$439 for a spay?! That is freaking insane, talk about price gouging! First off, stay away from any extra services that are offered at Petsmarts/Petcos (ie: vets, grooming, boarding, training)...they are all useless! I recommend seeing if you have a low cost spay neuter clinic close by...I know our local s/n clinic charges approx $50 (including meds) for a spay. You can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Angie's List. You can also try this link, but don't think they deal with fee disputes: http://www.tbvme.state.tx.us/index.php
ktam - I think your OP was very clear as to how you feel about the amt you were charged. I totally agree with your perception of Banfield. Please read my complaint. They've had two days and still refuse to publicly negotiate on these boards. I got nowhere with 888/877#'s!
