Me and my family have been salvation army advocates since then. We love Salvation Army, and it has always been a favorite of ours to visit the store every Wednesday in order to get good deals on good finds. Having said that, we are pretty much familiar with the going ons every Wednesday at the store. Fastforward, we have observed that the manager at the store is fond of giving special "favors" to certain people — like giving the item directly (straight from the warehouse) to the customer of their preference. Or — letting the customer go directly inside the warehouse.. I'm pretty sure this can be viewed by the store's CCTV. Upon seeing these happenings every Wednesday, we find this so unfair, when my husband & I would go to the store early so we can catch on good finds. This incident happened again today when a man from the warehouse carried 2 designer bags and directly gave it to a lady waiting outside. (By the way, this is the same lady being handed out with a designer bag every Wednesday) My husband was directly behind them. Upon seeing this, my husband asked to speak to the manager as we cannot turn a blind eye again on this matter.
We were referred to a manager named Gigi, she's tall, Hispanic, curly hair. Nobody will give her last name to us though. My husband approached her on the payment section as she was the one doing the cashier work. My husband told her our sentiments. Her immediate approach was too defensive and rude. She said "I dont have time to listen to this, if you want the bag then you should have get it" She was nearly shouting and biased on her opinion, she cant answer our question why this lady gets the privilege of getting the bag directly from the warehouse. We were explaining and telling her that this is not the way how to speak to customers and she would listen to what we were saying not TALK while we are also speaking. In the midst of the commotion, the said lady was also there listening to our conversation as she is the person being entertained by Gigi on the payment area while the REST of the customers are paying on the long lines. Again, we questioned Gigi, what makes this lady special that you take her stuff, and that she doesn't make a line there at the back like all of us do. Gigi rudely answered because she is paying debit card. Excuse me, we are paying on debit card too yet we get to fall in line like the rest. In the end, the manager whom we hope to get reasonable answers from, was the one who attacked us. A woman behind overhear the conversation, and told me, yeah that manager was rude. She was always like that.
We are a military family. We believe that what is right - we uphold, and we do not tolerate the wrong. That is the purpose of our complaint. We can no longer bear the bad things thats going on in this branch of the salvation army. Our challenge is for you guys to call the attention of this manager, review your cctv to check what is happening. This is so disappointing & unbecoming on the core values of the Salvation Army.
Also, let me compare that these does not happen in Little River Turnpike branch. The staff there are not rude, esp the manager. And new items from the warehouse are being put on the shelves or racks directly and never to a single customer. They dont play favorites / preferences. For your attention and investigation pls.
