I went to the discount tire store in Auburn to get my tires rotated; upon my leaving I did not notice much as I had loud music playing but my car did seem to drive differently but wasn't sure if it was just because the tires were rotated. Once I got onto the freeway though my car started to make a LOUD noise, that seemed to be coming from the front of my vehicle. Before having the tired rotated there were no odd sounds coming from my jeep, it drove perfectly. I immediately called my brother to ask what could be going on with my car and he came to my recue to access things. Low and behold the lug nuts had not been tightened all of the way allowing the tire to be nearly hanging on by dear life. Had I not pulled over there could have been serious damage to my vehicle and potentially myself making this matter more serious as my safety was at risk due to discount tires negligence. I called discount tire to inform them of the issue and the manager advised me that I could take it to any shop of my choice to have it looked at since I lived over an hour and a half from the shop I had went to that day. The Manager on site told me they would pay for any and all damages. I took my jeep to the jeep dealership where they did an inspection and deemed my vehicle 'unsafe' to drive. I was in contact with a claims specialist through discount tire and he informed me they would pay for everything and not to worry. Now all is said and done and due to a delay in the parts being delivered which was 100% out of my control discount tire is trying NOT to pay for any portion of my rental and is trying to tell me to reach out to my insurance company. IT WAS DISCOUNT TIRES FAULT, I as a paying customer, should not have to reach out to my insurance company for something that was admittedly discount tires fault and they took responsibility for the damages and agreed to pay at whatever cost. I need this matter resolved ASAP. Pictures were taken at discount tire before the rotation. Nothing was noted/documented about anything wrong with the tires prior to them being rotated nor was it discussed with me after the fact either in other words my car should have been fine when leaving the establishment. The claims specialist Jim Brandt has been tasteless and impossible to work with as he keeps telling me to reach out to my insurance company. I need this resolved before I seek legal counsel.
Claimed loss: $4128.25
Desired outcome: Full reimbursement for damages and rental car totalling $4128.25 plus an additional incentive for putting my safety, my children's safety and the lives of others at risk.
