Fred Meyer - Pay yourself area

March 29, 2022 around 3:36pm I was profiled by a FredMeyer 13000 Lake. City Way NE staff member.

I was scanning my groceries at self checkout station. During that time I was approached from behind by a FredMeyer staff member. I told him I didn’t ask for his help. I then asked him what he was doing. The Fred Meyer staff member then responds,” Your machine was blinking which means you put something in your bag without scanning.” And proceeded to pull things out of my 2 paper grocery bags.

I told the Fred Meyer staff member the machine blinked a long while ago because I added the paper bag. I then told the staff member that had I added something without scanning the camera comes on and shows if I did such a thing. The Fred Meyer staff responds that “ I seen you (me) put something in your bag” and proceeds to remove and put back my scanned items groceries. During this exchange I say several times your wrong, Get away from me, you didn’t see me do anything, I shop here to often. None of which was heeded. The Fred Meyer staff member continues “I Know I saw you” “You must have hid it.”

When he doesn’t find anything I asked him to get the FredMeyer manager or supervisor.

He the Fred Meyer staff member does not. Instead he begins to have a conversation with the security guard.

I continue to scan and then pay for my groceries. As I was nearing the alarm the Fed Meyer staff member says to the sercurity guard “ I know I saw him put something in that bag.” As I walk through the alarms the sercurity guard begins to shadow me as if the alarm goes off he’s going to pounce. The alarms don’t go off. The security guards still continues to shadow me until I walk out of the building.

I would have stayed to wait to speak to a manger however I have a son who is IEP so I had to be back home by 4pm for his school bus drop off. I contacted the FredMeyer Lake City location March 30, 2022 I spoke with A manger by the name of Heather. She asked that I go online and file a complaint.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology and I would like the staff member be held accountable for his actions. I felt embarrassed , afraid, and trapped.
