Sundance was holding a sweepstakes at a local fair the summer of 2010, to win a "free" cruise in which I signed up for. I received a phone call a few days later stating that I had won and would need to come in for one hour to sit through a "presentation" for one hour in order to receive our free cruise vouchers. During the one hour seminar we were told that after you purchase a vacation package for a certain price the cost per vacation would only be an extra $99.00 for one week’s stay in a condominium (now looking back this nice condominium you get to stay in, is more like a small shack - the pictures in the pamphlets they show are very misleading). The speaker made all of this sound very appealing and clear cut which in the end wasn't the case. Once the seminar ended, the conference room quickly emptied out as the representative started redirecting people to branch apart to meet with them. We were taken to a small table where instantly the representative began throwing out prices for different vacation packages. The more the representative spoke the more appealing she made it all sound. We asked many questions and she verbally confirmed we were correct in believing that we would only owe $99.00 for each vacation on top of our total sale price of the vacation package. Under no means did we understand that the prices would vary based on “peak” and “non-peak” times and how particular it would all be, as it was not presented like this to us. A manager even came over to our table and gave us a “better” price, implying that offer is never given because it was such an amazing deal ($6000.00). They did a great job at misrepresenting everything they had to offer in order to make a sale, and I want out of it now.
I have spoken with several representatives through this whole experience regarding our package verbalizing feeling tricked and misled with so many hidden fees and “catches” who are very quick to disregard and overlook what I say, the typical response seems to be “well, you signed the papers”. October 25, 2011, I spoke with about 5 separate representatives with tri-state financial, tan, and sundance vacations about cancelling our contract and receiving a full refund because of these many reasons; instead of helping me with this they would give me a new number for me to call. I was going between the three; however, I kept getting bounced around to the “right” people who would send me off to the next “right” person. The last person that I spoke with said the only thing she could do for me was to “modify” our package where it would be less expensive per month but would be spread out over extra months now. We declined as we are not interested in a “modification”.
After being misled during the initial sales pitch by material misrepresentation we want to cancel our membership/contract as well as a full refund.
I sent a letter to the company president about two weeks ago stating this same information. I also filed an official complaint on the wisconsin consumer complaints website.
About 6 days ago I received a voice message from judy romanelli: manager of new clients services. She was calling in regards to my letter I had sent, and stated clearly in the voice message that she can cancel my contract but will not give me a full refund of what I have previously paid ($1442.00). All of a sudden after leaving her three voice messages I am unable to get a hold of her. She has yet to return my phone calls. Interesting. I will not give up.
