My name is Trisha Milons I'm reaching out on behalf of myself an all G4S workers who may have emotional distress from working at the Milwaukee, WI G4S branch. I have been employed since August of 2019. I was hired for a Third shift position 12-8 at Milwaukee City Hall, which includes 2 additional buildings 809 and the Zeilder building which are attached through a tunnel. Up until Covid-19 I work Thursday-Monday. I report to Ryan Dreyer whom I've only saw once threw the interview process. Before working for G4S I really didn't have an ideal of the company background.
I started doing security threw a work-study program in 2011 at Milwaukee area technical College ( junior college) where I worked hand in hand with the public safety office. I worked side by side with some prestiges people with backgrounds including military, and retired Milwaukee police officers with high rank. I've assisted with activist events such as Gwen Moore ( congresswoman) Rev. Jessie Jackson, And Valierie Jarret who was the senior Advisor to president Obama. During the course of my almost 2 years I noticed I really enjoyed working with the public. I was already in school for criminal Justice (Obtained) so getting a chance to be an intern at the same time helped me confirm that I was on the right career path. So I started applying! My resume list includes AlliedBarton
Universal protection service, Milwaukee brewers Stadium, SPI, and lastly G4S.
I'm not sure if the company takes a Tour of the building's under contract but it's not an easy work load. I work in 3 of the most important buildings in the downtown area. I had to learned 4 different sets of tours, unlocks, and stairwells. I learn their was over a hundred tags that needed to be scanned. I had 2 days of training, which normal requires 3. One day of training was missed due to a miscommunication on my end. However they were short staffed, so my third day I was by myself and I completed all the tours and scanned more than half of the tags by taking notes on my training days. I made sure to write small details about each building to ensure my job was done efficiently, with making sure to always have a clean uniform with a professional look.
At the end August I experienced a hardship with my vehicle breaking down . So I started using public transportation. Rain, sleet, snow I was at work. I made no excuses, and I made sure to wear and buy the proper garment and gear to keep me warm, which mostly including under garment an heat warmers for your gloves and feet. While taking care of my son, by myself who was 2 at the time. Which was very stressful knowing I wasn't going to be with him at night, this was our first time since my son was born that we slept away from each other. The first night of training I actually had to get off the clock to check on him. However as a mother their was no other option. So I separated personal from work and I did what I had to do, with greeting my co-workers with a smile every night.
G4S did not know my story and they no reason too ask because no matter what I was at work. I understand the importance of work ethic, valuing your job as well as co-workers. Within the first couple emails in the beginning of my employment I felt like Ryan Dreyer was very rude in how he emailed il and responded. However I was new and I know things can be taken the wrong way all the time. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt until every email made me feel the same way. Like a father talking to a child.
About 3 months ago I responded to an work email with 28 people expressing myself from what was said in the email. The sender was Ryan Dreyer. Prior to responding, I did not feel that I was out of line due to me being an employee and the emailed was address to us as a whole. After he sent me a separate email expressing his feelings, I understood that maybe he felt like I was giving other employees opportunities to have a voice. I did apologize. I was informed that I would be removed from further group emails and would be emailed separately. During the weeks to follow I had a few employees thank me for speaking up because they felt the same way. However I made it clear, that I was merely speaking on rights that we have as employees.
I have not met a worker yet who hasn't spoke on the lack of respect they feel Ryan Dreyer gives. I do not know who else to reach out too, upper management is aware at this office. And they have yet to address this issues with me and my concerns has they are also attached to the various emails from me and Mr. Dreyer.
I've had various reviews from superiors throughout the years and I never felt less than. Ryan has no regard for how he say things or how they make others feel. I've become disgusted on how he choose to talk and handle varies situations. I have emailed him back on my feelings and they get dismiss. It got too the point where I started taking work home. And now my son is suffering from the frustration of me not being happy at work. But also knowing I have no choice because I do have a child with bills. So I just complained to my family members. Never once letting it change my work ethic. However it was slowing becoming a disturbance on my peace of mind especially with not knowing Covid-19 was about to hit.
During the days to follow Covid-19 no PPE was provided. And a co-worker who was said to be in contact with the Mayor Tom Barrett was taken off the schedule with no communication. My anxiety got high, my mom lost a friend due to Covid-19 and decided she no longer wanted to care for my son, with me putting him and her household in jeopardy because I was still coming in contact with people. I informed the Human Resources department as they made me feel secure and protected at one point with my job. I do want to note that I truly appreciate them.
Recently things at G4S has come to a boiling point for me. Emotionally draining with the last couple incidents, including one with an ARO plotting to get a employee fired who was on thin ice by telling me not to come in 20 minutes before the schedule shift. We did not have proper documentation. However I verbally spoke with, Hope Miller ( scheduler) Ryan Dreyer and a ARO who called me that afternoon to work another shift.
The last few emails has also put me in very emotional place, as Ryan insist on indirect insults. And slandering my name with-comments saying "I refuse to follow rules". I have never been written up or talked to about not following rules so I was very disappointed with this comment.
At this point I felt pressured to put in my 2 weeks notice from fear of being setup or potentially being fired. I felt my frustration brewing, and it was either walk away with a peaceful mindset or hold on and become more emotionally unhealthy. On 5/19/20 at 12:22pm, with everything going on and not receiving any hazard pay or no unemployment for the time being. I missed work due to my son daycare closing. I became overwhelmed with everything and I felt like this was the only way I could keep my peace of mind intact. Because he definitely has a way to make you feel beneath him.
On 5/22/20 around 8:22pm I received a call from my coworker asking was I coming In due to miscommunication with the Thursday shift. At 8:44pm I received the same call from the ARO. My co-worker also informed me that I was not on the future schedule. This actually hurt my feelings because I felt like Ryan Dreyer is purposely trying to get back at me, I heard that he told the scheduler to remove me.
I decided to finish off my last 2 days regardless, making sure I leave the same way I started. My name is all I have. I never received a reply to me putting in my 2 weeks, let alone a email stating that I wasn't going to be allowed to work my 2 weeks. Everything at this location is mostly done on a unprofessional level at this with employees knowing personal business that should be left between supervisors.
I did count on that 2 weeks to obtain more finances for me and my son. I did not deserve to be taken off the schedule. I do not have financial help and I haven't received any benefits from unemployment due to covid-19. I filed 8 weeks straight due to no hours or reduce hours.
I wouldn't say I was the best worker ever because that depends on who you ask ( lol) but I will say I am a worker! I have never took any job for granted, rather the job detail scrubbing toilets or cutting seals off semi-trucks, I did it. I come to work to work, on time and I'm a team player. Isn't this what G4S stand for? How can one apple make the whole company look bad? Not only did this change my outlook on G4S, I will never work for another security company again. I decided to leave the security field alone all together. The lack of communication, the lack of appreciation, the lack of compassion and integrity is not apart of the Milwaukee, WI location.
Why am I reaching out? Because not enough workers have the courage to reach out an speak on the truth. They too afraid to lose their job. And I refuse to allow a person who should be a leader in the company get away with mistreatment of his employees. It's not ok to bully people to quit. I'm hoping this also makes the company aware, that you are also losing great workers.
I pray this letter is read and action is taken, if no one ever reaches out to me. Please come visit the office, talk with some of the employees one on one. I pray a matter of misuse of authority, don't go unnoticed. These workers are overworked. And he rather hurt me intentional than to protect the mental health of his other employees by not allowing me to be an extra body for 2 more weeks, puts more stress on them.
Why am I reaching out? Because not enough workers have the courage to reach out an speak on the truth. They too afraid to lose their job. And I refuse to allow a person who should be a leader in the company get away with mistreatment of his employees. I appreciate your time and I pray to hear from someone soon,
sincerely yours
