Upon arrival to Wunderfolds “cattery”, my husband and I noticed our cat smelled really bad (like cat poop that someone sprayed patchouli scented Poopouri over) and her left eye was red and irritated. Ginger, the breeder, said there’s nothing wrong with her and she was just “tired because she woke her (the kitten) up from a nap”.

Upon bringing her to the vet the first 48 hours we had the kitten (per adoption instructions), our vet mentioned she might have a viral infection and to be wary. We kept her separate from the other animals as requested too. Fast forward two weeks later, all our other cats are sick with very terrible URIs. Multiple trips back and forth to the animal hospital, we’ve spent thousands on medical care. Two of our 3 cats almost died.

Fast forward to today, we just got back from the Vet *again* because our kitten wasn’t getting any better and started mouth breathing. She has tested positive for Feline Herpes.

Our new kitten is the common denominator as to why all of cats got sick. Ginger is selling sick cats from anywhere between $2,000-$4,000. Avoid her at all costs. Her house was filthy and she keeps way too many animals in one room with maybe 2 litter boxes. She requests all cats have a childless/dog-less home, yet she had two dogs that appeared untrained and high energy - not a good environment to raise kittens. She’s blocked me on social media so I can’t get a hold of her.

Please report her to animal control if you’ve bought a sick kitten from her. She needs to be shut down indefinitely. Someone please rescue those animals and save them from dying and the potential owners a huge heartache.I know I’m not the only one who’s reported these issues. Enough is enough.

Desired outcome: Shut down Wunderfolds and rescue the cats.

I have evidence that this buyer has falsified everything, and will post as such. Her kitten was healthy when leaving us, had a healthy well check with proof provided by the buyer. Multiple message and photos sent to me stating how awesome her kitty is with zero complaints. 2 weeks later, her cats came down with something, and she asked me if my kitten could have had a virus because her cats are sick. Mind you, she said my cat has no symptoms. A week later, more pics and my kitty still no issues and says her cats are also fine. This week, I had a visit from animal control, stating kitten was sick at arrival, covered in poop, and my home is filthy. I let them in right away, because people that buy from me know my home is extremely clean, kittens bathed prior to leaving and no cats sick here. Animal control even complimented how clean and well taken care of, and also said kittens can come down with things as they are exposed to new bacteria. I will attach the report from AC when it is sent to me, but I have a book full of screenshots of all conversation with the buyer, and never ONCE did she state her kitty from me is sick. What is likely, is her vet is a breeder hater, took advantage of this buyer with ridiculous charges for simple virus her cats had, and threw blame at me, because a healthy kitten would not be shedding a virus to get her cats sick. Stressors such as a new pet can make resident ones she'd viruses they harbor, and being that my kitten was never sick per her messages, if my kitten now has a URI 4 WEEKS LATER, it's likely her cats that infected mine. Even so, kittens get URIs as they are exposed to new bacteria and develop their immunity. Please see attached screenshots to see how much this buyer is lying.

Also, we had a total of only 6 cats in our office space, one mom and the five kittens. This was the only kittens in our entire cattery at the time. I'll attach SS of the other buyers I've been in contact with, one who also took the mom, stating no issues with their kittens or other cats that live in their homes.

This buyer is clearly lying about everything, and I have the proof. I'm not sure why she'd make lies up like this, especially since even if the kitten came down with a Uri upon rehoming (which was not the case according to her messages,) it's COMMON! Kittens get colds because they are developing immunity. However, no other cats I sold had a Uri, only apparently according to her in this review did hers get it, AFTER exposed to her cats that likely shed it themselves.

WE HAVE VET DOCUMENTS STUPID. No one but YOU is lying here.

You got one more chance before I blast your information for everyone to see including your personal address and cell phone number.

You have hurt and killed SO many people you’ve sold your animals too AND their older animals. You are a horrible human being Ginger.

We did not give you all the details because we were at the vet every other day with the cats. she started with a pink eye that they couldn’t do anything about. Turns out she’s got feline herpes. Tell that to my Veterinarian who’s been documenting all of this, [censored]. Also you need to redact my name or I will plaster your personal address everywhere. Thanks Ginger babe.

Come on Ginger... How many complaints are necessary before you realize YOU are the problem? I have seen plenty on this website alone and the original poster is clearly not the only one who has had issues with your cats you sell. And oddly enough, all of those cats have very similar symptoms... Who is the common denominator? Be a better person.

You are actually insane. If you had an issue, you'd come to me. Funny you have time to send a multitude of pics and texts about how great the kitten is, but now say you had no time to say she was sick. Right 🤣 I have not seen any type of documents other than you saying kitten had no issues for WEEKS after leaving. Funny if she was sick at arrival how you'd introduce her immediately to your own cats. That doesn't add up. I'm done replying to an insane person, and FYI, nothing posted on this [censored] board, that does nothing to verify the claims are actually true, can be redacted. If you post my personal info, its called doxing, and that you can actually be a criminal complaint. A user name is not personal information.

Also, if you read the above reviews, it's clearly another breeder that didn't like me, but go on and think I have been placing sick and dying kittens. I have an amazing reputation with many repeat clients, one that you are acquainted with that also thinks you are insane now.

This complaint is a blatant, irrational and obvious smear. The discrepancies between the allegations and what was actually communicated are staggering. At the end of the day, you can't rewrite what was and what was not said in order to lob such an outrageous smear attack, which appears to be the buyer's approach here.

First off, I see a clean bill of health was sent and good health of the kitten was confirmed, along with numerous pictures & correspondence with the breeder. Never was it stated by the buyer that anything was wrong with the kitten until these attacks were lobbed, and there seemed to have been ample correspondence.

Given the timeline of events that transpired, it's highly likely that her cats already had a dormant virus which was activated from the stress of bringing a new kitten into the home. I will include a screenshot explaining this very common occurrence. It's most probable that the kitten was infected from this, though a URI in cats at any point is both common and almost unavoidable. For example, 97% of cats have been exposed to feline herpes. A simple Google search will tell you that, but I will include screenshots of this as well.

That means that with each of the buyer's other cats, there is a 97% chance they carried herpes, yet the buyer seeks to destroy a reputable, award-winning cattery over this when they can't even say for sure it was from the new kitten? This is absolutely ridiculous. It's also highly unlikely, given all the correspondence and photos where no mention of this was made.

We have adopted several kittens from Ginger and have referred family and friends. All were very positive experiences. We have also picked up each of our kittens from her. The downstairs kitten room is actually spacious and is equipped with filtered water fountains which are cleaned daily, along with automatic litter boxes, which self-clean after cats exit to ensure sanitization.

Here are some of the many things which I find suspicious regarding this complaint:

•Why was the breeder not notified of the kitten being sick prior to these attacks, if the kitten really was sick?

•If it was sick, why was it exposed to the other cats, while no mention was made to the breeder?

•Why wasn't the kitten quarantined until any issue was resolved?

•Why did the kitten not appear sick in the photos that were sent, while no mention of sickness was made?

•Why did the buyer's cats get sick before the new kitten? This is going by the correspondence, not the retroactively altered version of the story.

•How can the buyer be so convinced it was the new kitten which infected the other cats, when there is a 97% chance that the other cats already had herpes? Again, the virus can remain dormant until triggered by stress, such as bringing a new pet in the home.

•Why is the breeder getting a completely revised timeline of events AFTER the buyer launched a vicious smear campaign against the breeder?

•The buyer claims to not have had time to inform the breeder of any issues, yet had time to correspond, send pictures and tell her the kitten was fine?

•The buyer seeks to shut down a reputable cattery over something that's present in 97% of cats, is almost unavoidable and could very well have been present in the other cats?

Completely and utterly irrational.

It looks as if no mention of the new kitten being sick before the other cats was communicated prior to these attacks. Given the discrepancies that we can see between what was communicated over several weeks between the breeder and buyer and the allegations in this complaint, this simply just does not add up.

What's most revealing is how far the buyer went to try to wreak havoc and destroy a very reputable cattery over something that's present in 97% of cats and is almost unavoidable, especially when the cats in the home were reported to have gotten sick first, meaning they most likely had it and gave it to the kitten. Again, this is going entirely off the correspondence between the buyer and breeder, which included the timeline of events and photos of the kitten.

I encourage everyone to pay attention to the correspondence, as it is completely inconsistent with the allegations stated here.

I send my best regards to all parties involved and hope they can work towards a resolution with this matter.

The response by Meredith Hughes sums up this entire situation. Ginger has provided ample proof that your review is filled with false allegations. I have purchased two kittens from Ginger and both have been in perfect health. At no point have they transmitted any contagious URI (viral, bacterial or fungal) to my already existing adult cats. I have been inside Ginger’s home and it is spotless, in fact, I was so impressed at the lack of litter box odor and cleanliness that I purchased my own litter robot for my cats. As a veterinarian, I can say that the two kittens I have received have received what I consider the gold standard in veterinary care and Ginger is a superb breeder. I have referred friends and families to her, all of which have been equally as happy as myself.

The timeline you provided makes it nearly impossible for the kitten to be the causative agent for the outbreak of an URI. The timeline is more consistent with your already adult cats becoming stressed and their latent infections recrudescing and now infecting your kitten. You have provided absolutely NO proof of your allegations except your own account of events which if we’re being honest has been disproven by the communications Ginger provided. In the spirit of transparency, why don’t you provide documentation (with appropriate dates) that verify your account of things much as Ginger has.

READ BEFORE PURCHASING FROM THIS ALLEGED "BREEDER"

It is appalling to me that in SC you can continue to sell sick and/or dying kittens without punishment. Yes. It's true! SC has lax rules for this type of business, which is more than likely why Ginger Pains and co.? continues to push sick kittens (proof) and escape punishment. I have spoken to her other clients with dead kittens (proof); experienced my own horror story (proof), and still she's here tormenting and bullying those who have experienced the same (proof). It's always your client's fault, right? How many kittens have died thus far?
