disappointed
I will never return to this location. we arrived at approx. 5pm on sat feb19th. the place was packed. one of the hostess was keeping one of the outdoor doors open. and every time the outside door was opened the outdoor wind chill of mid teens come rushing into the restuarnt, where everybody was waiting for a seat. there didnt appear to be any management personnel available. we had asked for a coffee and never received any during the 45 minutes that we were waiting there. there didnt appear that anyone was being seated during this time frame. and after we requested how long before we would be seated and were told at least another hour, we left the chaos at this restaurant !
rip off
I was given a $100 gift card to Outback as a Christmas present from my father. The franchise was running a promotion where a bonus $20 gift card was given if the $100 card was purchased. I burned through my $100 card and went to use the $20 at the curbside to-go. I ordered light and the entree came to around $12. I was informed by the car attendant that I would not be receiving the remaining $8 on the card. They are not able to subtract value off the card. It is one time. Use the full $20 or else.
i agree outback is a rip off, we ate there and i ordered a filet migon - what i got was a ribeye and a poor one. they said it was a filet but i've been eating steaks for 35 yrs - i know the difference... no more outback for me -yuck, , service sucked too..
Are you sure it was a gift card and not a coupon? A lot of companies issues coupons that look like gift cards, but are one-time use.
It's possible the poster missed some fine print. Either way, they had the option to use that money under specific conditions and chose not to.
Good legal question here. The law says a designated promotional must have the value advertised or be viewed as false advertisement. You may wish to write a short blurp to the local university law school asking a professor to make this question into a project for the students. I would think a judge would rule the franchise had falsely advertised that gift card as $20 usage without noting the qualifiers. You could file a "lien" against the vendor for your missing $8.
... Years ago a law student filed a lien against the Hilton Hotel in California after they failed to refund his $20 security deposit. He had to write up a lien for class ... so he wrote it, filed it in court as required. A judge ruled the hotel was required to pay. The Hilton did not pay any attention. The judge ruled at a later session that the hotel would be sold at auction to secure the funds. The attorneys for the Hilton were not there to hear the judge suggest that the law student post the required news announcements in papers in other states! The boy showed up for the auction, no one else came ... he BOUGHT the Hilton Hotel for a dollar. (Which the Hilton in turn paid him over a million to have returned to their title .. they also chose to hire the boy after his graduation as a lawyer to represent THEM in the future). Pretty cool! Would you like to own your local restaurant? Who knows ...
don't be fooled
I went to the Outback Steakhouse last night with my fiance. Well Outback has a filet on their menu. Technically a filet is any hand cut steak. The menu clearly had a picture of a filet mignon and advetised the steak as their most tender, juicy, and flavorful thick cut steak. Why then did she receive a steak that was obviously a sirloin, was only 3/4 of an inch thick and had less flavor than my ribeye. When it was brought to the managers attention all he wanted to do was cook another of the same steaks. I was highly dissatisfied with the food and the service honestly. My waiter was more involved in the football game than waiting his tables. In short I will not return to Outback and I want to warn all who read this not to be fooled by the filet.
They use weights to cook their steaks, thus they will be thinner. Of course a ribeye has more flavor, it has more marbling. A filet will be lean, and should be tender (sometimes there is an oddball, it's not exact science), but less marbling as it is very lean. The manager offering you another steak is what they should do, as if it wasn't good, the next one should be better. Ask them to not use a weight, it may take longer, but your steak will be more thick.
It's obvious you don't understand meat at all, and to come on here and make an ignorant complaint is just juvenile. How did you order your steak cooked? If well done or medium well, most of the juice will be cooked out because of the weight. Order medium rare or medium and you will be better off.
raw food, incompetent lying manager
Just got home from what I now consider to be the most poorly managed restaurant in Amarillo. I ordered the pork tenderloin and my wife ordered the chicken on the barbie. Our food came to the table and my sides had been forgotten. I pointed it out to the waiter and he replied with "Oh, we are out of green beans. sorry. Do you want anything else?" I told him what I would have and he went to get it. While he was gone I got ready to eat my pork tenderloin which is served sliced and drizzled in a sauce. As I separated the slices I saw that the pork was RAW. Not just a little undercooked, it was cold, slimy, mushy RAW! The waiter came back with my sides and I pointed out that my pork was raw. He told me that he would get me another one and in my disgust I just told him I didn't want anything else; I would just eat my sides and some bread. As I expected, I saw the manager come out from the kitchen and head toward our table. On the way he stopped and chatted with some waitresses that were milling around in the back of the restaurant. About that time they all looked over at myself and my wife and snickered. He then continued to our table and stated: "I understand that you didn't like your pork." I told him that it wasn't that I didn't like it, but that it was RAW. He then told me that the pork was cooked medium and that medium was a little rare for some people's tastes. -As an aside; I KNOW meat. Growing up slaughtering our own animals every year and taking some food and meat science classes in college have left me with what many would consider a near expert understanding of protein. Back to the story... The manager then proceeded to tell me that the pork was cooked fine and safe to eat. If I didn't have such an extensive knowledge of what raw pork looks and feels like I might have trusted him and ate it. Not only were his actions unethical, they are DANGEROUS! Trichinosis is just one of the serious and potentially fatal disease caused by eating undercooked pork and this supposed "Food Service Professional" was looking me straight in the eye and telling me that this meat was safe to eat. I am just glad that this happened to me and not someone that would have believed this idiot. What's even more, a couple of minutes later my wife asked me to look at her chicken. She had cut into the thicker side of her breast and what do you think I saw? IT WAS RAW ALSO! I flagged the waiter over and asked him to get the manager. When he arrived I held the plate up and said "Touch this and tell me that it isn't raw." He touched it and without saying a word turned and walked back to the kitchen. For the next ten minutes we sat thirsty and hungry in our booth while every waiter in the restaurant avoided us like the plague. I don't know if he was hoping we would just walk out or what, but I wasn't leaving without him knowing that I didn't expect to pay a dime. While we were sitting and waiting to see how this was going to be handled I was suddenly startled by a voice behind me. The manager said "you don't owe us anything so you are free to go" and before I could even turn my head to see him he had already spun around and was scurrying off toward the kitchen.
This is not the way to treat a customer. No matter what kind of quality control is in place, sometimes there will be problems with the food; what separates good restaurants from bad restaurants is how they handle the situation and the attitude they take with their customers.
If a customer tells you that their food is raw you do not in any circumstance tell them that they are wrong and that it is safe to eat. You also need to apologize to the customer and take reasonable measures to remedy the situation. This did not happen tonight and it is not acceptable.
My advise to anyone eating out: If you think there is a problem with your food, don't eat it. No matter what the waiter or manager tells you, it is not worth the risk. My experience tonight just goes to show that some establishments would rather lie to you and possibly put your life in jeopardy than to admit that they had made a mistake.
Charges of Fradulantly cashing emplyee checks have been announced against this crappy Restuarant!
Do you realize in the US there are only about 50 cases of Trichinosis per year? I realize it was a pandemic back in the twenties, but humans are the end of the cycle for this type of parasite. Pork, like beef, is safe to eat at a minimum of 145 degrees, medium rare. And if the meat has been frozen to under zero degrees and kept there for 20 days, it can safely be eaten lower than that! As far as anything under "well done" with beef and pork, seafood, it can be done, but at your own risk. I am sure you are a well done filet mignon type of guy huh? Could I get you some A1, 57, or ketchup with that?
Actually it turned out the person had the exact same problem at several different restaurants. They ordered the exact same food and got the exact treatment at other restaurants so either they got fired from several places or they are trolling.
PETA = people eating tasty animals... BFL Bacon for life...
Become a vegetarian...It really is not hard to do...I am and I have endless good food to eat...
Go to PETA.ORG and see what animals have to go thru to be on your plate...very sad...
food misrepresentation
I ordered an Outback Special steak which was half the thickness they used to be and in no way looked like the Tv commercial I saw the next evening. Also the Blooming Onion we had was cold and soggy. I did not complain at the time as I did not wish to spoil my wife and my evening out. All I can say is I have eaten at this restaurant chain for about 12 years, several times a year at different locations, but I will not be in future, as it is obvious they are cutting their standards of quality and customer service to maintain their bottom line. This is not the way to maintain customer loyalty and will continue to see their profits dwindle along with the size of the portions.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree with this. They are cutting there portions and quality.
stay away from this place
I placed a to go order with outback for an appetizer, entree and salad. I picked up the order and the service was friendly. I live about a half hour away from this particular outback in Greensboro NC. When I was pulling into the driveway at home I receive a call from outback stating I was given the wrong order, would I come back and get the correct order and they would make my order fresh. I asked what they would do for my trouble and I was told they would give me a free dessert and a coupon for an appetizer on my next visit. So I return and get the order, it is correct this time minus the honey mustard for the alice springs chicken. I go home, an hour later, and eat my meal and discover my chicken entree is not completely cooked, very pink in the middle. So I write a complaint on the outback website. The manager of that store calls me and apologizes and asks what happened, I explain, and she tells me it was handeled incorrectly, that the entire meal should have been comp'd and would have been if she were there (so now I feel kinda cheated by the free dessert offer). She also mentions that corporate will be sending me something in the mail. Well this was some time ago and I have yet to receive anything. I not only spent an extra hour and more gas to get the correct order but it was inedible when I received the order.
I recently had the opportunity to visit an Outback Steakhouse restaurant on 5/28/2010 @ 13:11 during the day. The traffic in the restaurant was minimal and not really busy. I thought I would share some concerns during my visit the atmosphere, cleanliness and over all food quality.
I hate to be food critic and understand that every business try’s their best to satisfy their patrons, but this was one of my worst exsperices with a restaurant in a long time, not to mention from an establishment such as the Outback Steakhouse.
I called the owner or manager who went by the name of Able, who I actually talked with after my orders was delivered and he was pleasant and genially concerned with my complaint of the delivery of my main course of a steak all alone in a middle of the plate very unappealing for $7.95 with my side of salad in a bowl 10 minutes prior. His comment is that I would find this to be a common practice due to the economy, I cannot agree, I have visited other restaurants in the area and the presentation of the platter was far more attractive for the same price point and he offered me a side of veggies which was kind if they were not over cooked and could eat.
I left the restaurant and called the management and explained myself and he offered to credit my meal back for myself and my wife, and to date this has not happened, so his jester is also at question, I will not call back to check on the reason why the promise was not done. I will contact the City Health Department with my concerns on the cleanliness of the restaurant.
Both of our classes were dirty at the rim with soap and looked to be lip stick.
The restaurant did have a stale smell once you enter the doors and I also most turned around but I figured I was already in the door and wanted to eat.
The table were dirty and food on the seats.
I opened my flatware and napkin and found a hair in it.
The food was cold and the steaks were over cooked and texture of leather.
No seasoning, I could have cooked the same steak at home better.
All in all I figure I should have reached in my wallet and gave outback $24.95 and left, poor excuse of a restaurant and would love a refund. Maybe check the restaurant for quality once and a while.
Thank You
charged my debit card more than agreed
Having been satisfied with our meal I decided to give them a 10% tip. I did this using my visa debit card and signed the receipt. When I checked my bank statement they had charged me $10 more than agreed. This is the secont time it has happened at an Outback restaurant so it is not a coincidence. I spoke with the manager who did not seem surprised and made the excuse that the server had just input the value incorrectly and promised to refund my money. 1 week later and it has still not gone back in my account.

as well, outback has a company poilicy to "follow the bottom line" on credit card slips, which means, for example, if your bill was $50 and you wanted to leave a $12 tip, you would total that up as $62. However, if you did your math wrong, or forgot to carry the one (happens far too often), you may write down $52 by mistake. This is what the server has to accept as their tip because of the rules. It works conversely, however, albeit extremely rarely. I can remember a table who's check was for $70-something, and the guy wanted to leave me $12 and ended up leaving me 96 or 98, leaving me $22 instead of 12 because of his math mistake, and my boss said "well, that's what he wrote." always keep the duplicate receipt, that way you know if it's your fault or not, and you will also have the server's name on top of the receipt because if they did actually choose to overcharge you, you have a way to identify who it was.
outback charges an 18% gratuity for parties of 8 or more (i'm a former employee), and it is standard practice in almost any restaurant, but there is no additional added gratuity.
And if you're complaining about being charged double, i guarentee your server was complaining about receiving 10 percent as a tip. Just so you know, with outback, as well as with a ton of other restaurants, servers tip out 3% of their daily sales to the bar, bussers and hostesses. Not 3% of their tips, 3% of their sales. Which means even if you get stiffed on tips all day, you still owe X amount based on what your sales were. So [censor] tips at a restaurant like that hurt much worse. I remember a 7 person party with a $320 bill (mostly from booze) who were complete jerks to me and ended up only leaving me 7% BEFORE i paid my tipshare out and i almost went to the parking lot to call them out. Fortunately, that party was one in a million, and realizing what he had done when he sobered up, came back in the next day to give me more cash and apologize.
Yea this is a long rant, but i just wanted to say if you tip 10% for GOOD SERVICE, you shouldn't be complaining, you should headbutt a knife.
And before you argue that you don't have money to tip better, all that says to me is you don't have the money to pay for everything while dining out, and therefore should eat home or go to mcdonalds.
the same thing happened just recently to me...but, in my case, the waitress changed the tip by adding a 2 in front of what I wrote.
I was cheap (9%) tipping on the card (to make it an even for my account) but I left cash also. (total of 14% tip) that was average for the average service that we received.
really? a $20 difference, I noticed!
of course the manager stated that the servers in no way make changes to the receipt and stood there looking at me crazy, but I did get my $20 back and now I know better than to eat at that location again.
If you were satisfied with your meal you don't tip 10%. If you were at outback your server losed 3% of your tip to bus boys and hostesses, and even if that wasnt the case 15% is an ok tip, and that only says that you were merely ok with your meal. Honestly, you should be embarrassed, and you got what was coming to you being overcharged. Sounds like karma to me. FYI if you tip like that, I wouldn't recommend eating at the same restaurant twice. Servers remember, and they aren't going to waste their time when they won't get paid.
haha you ate at outback what do you expect

First of all, a 10% tip does not imply satisfaction! 15-20% is considered average. Second of all, it typically takes 7-10 business days to have money refunded on a debit card. However, it sounds to me like the server knew what he/she was doing. I have seen servers do this before and it is not ethical or legal- it is simply a nasty way to get back at a bad tipper!
10% you cheap ###. Satisfied starts at 20%, although if they did that to you it is fraudulent and should be addressed
I believe Outback (at least in my area) charges gratuity on your bill. I refuse to go somewhere that decides how much their tip should be. I always tip well if I get good service, but the whole "forced tip" thing gets under my skin.
fraud and cheating
Your not getting what you pay for when you order ribs at Outback. Go to any good BBQ place and order a 1/2 or full rack of ribs..and you'll get them. This is not so at Outback Steakhouse Restaurants. I ordered a full rack of ribs for $16.95 and when they brought my order I had 7 ribs with the end of the rack cut off. I thought there was a mix up in the order so I asked the waitress to double check my order was for a full rack.
The manager came out and told me that they cut the end of the ribs off (about 1/3) and what is left is considered a full rack. They said they base it on weight and a full rack is usually about 8 ribs for them. I brought to his attention the menu advertising only a full or half a rack. There is no indication of the order being based on weight. I also told him you cannot charge me for a 'FULL' rack of ribs if you cut 1/3rd of the end of my rack off to offer it as 1/2 a rack to someone else.
I can not believe they are getting away with this. When you order a full rack you should get at least 12-14 bones and half of a rack has about 6 bones in the order. This is a complete rip off. I do have to say in all honesty the manager gave me the rest of my rack at no 'extra' charge but this should have been done without me having to bring to his attention that part of my order was missing.
Outback is making a huge profit by misrepresenting their ribs as full and half racks when they are really 1/3 and 2/3 racks. Just imagine they are getting an extra $12.95 order out of each order of ribs they sell, when they cut the ribs like this... I'm not sure if other consumers have noticed or said anything, but thier menus are certainly misleading and you ARE NOT getting what you are paying for so BEWARE!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Try to order ribs last night from Door dash for today told me they were out of them last July 4th said they same thing called today and they said they were out of them sorry that is a lie funny I can get them any other time. Shape up Macedonia , Ohio.
I ordered a 16 ounce Prime Rib Med rare and it came well done. When the waitress saw that she said she would get me another one. She did and this one was raw
The waitress was very helpful but the food was inedible. I only ate the blooming onion and took the meat home for my dog.
VERY Disappointed
I go to Outback every sunday for the last 7 years and today we were seated and forgotten about while the couples who were seated after us were waited on. The floor staff saw my irritation but ignored. I was a loyal customer but this lack of service is unexcusable. This occurred on August 20th around 1:30 PM
*Dissatisfied with the taste and quality of the food
*Food gave us diarrhea for three days
*Silverware was not clean, had to request a glass of hot water to soak silverware
*Served wrong item
*Conditions of floor were wet/slippery to and from bathroom from our table
Tried calling many times to speak to a manager but never got through
Weird steaks under then over cooked
French dip sandwich was unchewable, meat was sliced way to thick, order beef tenderloin which was also unchewable, this is suppose to be a steak house, try a different company for your beef, it sucks
Filet mignon was disgusting. Would not even classify it as steak
Got better at Shoprite
Even though they did not charge me for the meal, it was not worth the $10 tip I gave the waiter since it was not his fault
The filet mignon had an after taste before you even tasted it
2022, outback is still doing it. 25$ for 9 bones. I saw them bring my last 4 bones to another table.
Ordered the steak quesadilla. They had a advertisement on the table and it looked good in the photo. It not cheep but looked good so I got it. What a mistake, look at photos. It was about 1/8 inch thick and when I opened it shaved slivers of meat inside. A total waste of money and looks nothing like the photo.
Went to the Bellingham MA location this past weekend. Food was good but the staff were all stoned. Don't you do drug testing?
