My 90-yr-old mother, who still lives in her home, began a new, intense chemotherapy routine and so we asked the doctor to prescribe a visiting nurse to make sure she was handling the medicine okay. We were told by Amedisys that she would have the same nurse and could schedule the same visit day every week (this was told to both my mother, as well as me). After the first nurse visit, she was scheduled with a different nurse, and she never was told until the night before when the nurse would come. No one arrived for the fourth visit, but then came a week later. Three and a half weeks later, I was sent a text by a totally different nurse that my mother was being discharged. I asked her to have a manager or supervisor call me, which never happened. A week and a half later, I called the local Amedisys to get answers and was told that my mother was already discharged. Also, they said the whole purpose of their visit was "education" of the new chemo drug. The doctor's office had already provided plenty of "education" on the new drug, which is exactly as it should be if they're the ones prescribing it. Amedisys is a scam and total waste of insurance/patient money and time.
Recommendation: Do Not Use Amedysis if possible
