My 90-yr-old mother, who still lives in her home, began a new, intense chemotherapy routine and so we asked the doctor to prescribe a visiting nurse to make sure she was handling the medicine okay. We were told by Amedisys that she would have the same nurse and could schedule the same visit day every week (this was told to both my mother, as well as me...

My sister's been a quadriplegic for 24 years. She wears a urinary catheter all the time. Amedisys in Okla. City was assigned to help her after she ended up with bed sores while in the hospital. They also took over her catheter care. Several months ago, they dropped us because she hadn't been to the doctor, so she hadn't had a face-to-face meeting. I called and told them her doctor had come to us--twice!--to do her tri-monthly visits (very kind of the doctor!), so they asked me to have the doctor contact them that she'd come here. She did. Then they said that was insufficient and needed the notes. She sent them. Then they said the notes didn't address the need for wound care, so she added more information and sent it. Then they said they had to have a face-to-face after all, and sent a nurse to conduct a video chat. Amedisys sent the nurse; it was their idea. Then, yesterday, they called to say they're dropping my sister again, despite her need for regular monthly catheter changes, because the doctor didn't address that issue specifically, and apparently the man acting this way has no sense of logic or understanding of catheter care. His fear they wouldn't be paid via Medicare/Medicaid was stronger than his hippocratic oath.
Recommendation: Despite the nurses all being wonderful, I recommend staying away from a company that might put your loved one at risk.

Called aps over a bed..
The patient and myself live in a fifth wheel RV. The patient Jason Staberg, wants to be at home and not in a facility. Well Amedisys tried to stop that because the people delivering the hospital bed refused to complete the delivery due to our rv flooring. The nurse claimed that she called adult protective services for resources. But the adult protective...

Amedisys of Myrtle Beach, SC I recently had surgery and my surgeon required I have home health for a few months. I was referred to this company through my insurance. I was released on 6/17/2023 and on the 18th I received a call from the admitting nurse and she was super nice and helpful and was at my house on the 19th. My regular nurse was nice but did not...

Amedisys was contracted to provide P/T, O/T, and home health care services for my husband in memory care in July 2023. I had to constantly monitor them. They could not tell me, for instance, when a therapist would show up at my husband's place, which he needed to know about so he would be ready for them. Then they misplaced a urinalysis that we wanted to have cultured, to check for UTIs. And we did not receive any reports of what had occurred, as requested by the memory care. But the main thing is that they would not return our calls.
Desired outcome: We would like an apology. And cancel your connections to Medicare and to our doctor, so we can start with a different provider!

Home health care
Amedisys, of Dothan. AL didn't have the decency to let us know about dropping my husband therapies and home healthcare.
Then, recently, he ended up at the hospital, and they dropped him from home Healthcare. I found out because the hospital told me that Amedisys of Dothan, AL,was not going to take care of him anymore. Amedisys didn't call to let me know of their plan to drop my husband.
The only thing the nurse was doing was drawing blood once a week and replacing the bandage for his TPN.That was everything she did. At one point, I was told by the nurse that their last day drawing the blood was going to be in a few weeks. Then I was told that they were going to continue drawing his blood because he is on a TPN.
They kept on pushing for hospice, and I feel that there was no reason for him to be on hospice. I take care of him 24 hours a day. It seems that everything was about getting the insurance money and not the well-being of my husband. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Amedisys of Dothan. AL, took the wrong time to drop by husband. They should have wait until we get to the house and give us at least a few weeks for us to get someone else. My husband at the present time still at the hospital.
So, no, they don't care about the patients. Too bad that at one point I trusted them, no anymore.
Desired outcome: An explanation in writing why they dropped my husband.
Lack of communication and untruthful comments, information.
CNA services for my Dad were discontinued over a month ago without my knowledge or being notified of such until the day I called to inquire why no one has been coming to assist my Dad. What I was told was that during the month of April they were turned away by me at least 21 times which would be almost every day of the month. That information is both ludicrous and absolutely not true! I have never turned anyone away, although I have requested that the Chaplain reschedule several times due to my Dad was sleeping and it was not a good time at that moment. As far as the CNA’s there were two occasions:
1) I was unable to get to the phone to answer because I was literally in picking my Dad up off the floor. I called the main office because the person that called had not left a phone number. I also advised that if I don’t answer the phone it’s because I am in helping my Dad and for them to just come knock on the door because we are here 24/7.
2) The other time when Erma called in the afternoon I told her not to worry about coming because someone I know was here that morning and gave him a bath.
About 2 weeks or more ago when Kourtney and Leslie were here we talked about moving him from the hospice over to home health to be able to have someone come help provide physical therapy because that is what he needs most to be able to get his strength back and not continually fall. She said she would check into that and get back with me. I never heard anything until I called asking why CNA had not been here in quite sometime only to find out it had been discontinued. I was not yelling to the person speaking to me, yes my voice rises due to my anxiety rising. I told this to the lady only for her to hang up on me! Also, every time I have had to call for any type of help I feel like I am being a nuisance which causes me to not call sometimes when my Dad is in need of care. If it’s your responsibility and you do not want to help with my Dad’s care then you need to find another agency who will. I am not the bad problem person here; I am the tired, stressed out, anxious daughter living 24/7 with my Dad trying to care for him and his property without any help. I apologize if my anxious voice angers your staff due to their non empathy!
Desired outcome: Either help or find another agency
I feel your pain because that is exactly what they are doing to my husband. Amedisys, of Dothan. AL didn't have the decency to let us know about dropping my husband therapies. Firing my father’s nurse the day before his death
The day before my father’s death in March his nurse was fired because of drama that was occurring in the office. The day of my father’s death he did not have a nurse assigned to him and we did not know what to do as a family. We did not have any instructions how to care for him or how to give him his meds so he would not suffer. Amedisys also promised at the beginning of my father placed in hospice care that they would have someone to help my brother when our father was near death. This never occurred and the feeling of no support was a horrible feeling. I called Amedisys the day of my father’s death and the very person that fired his nurse came to our home as a nurse even though she worked in the office to help us with his care for a drive thru visit. She was very apologetic of all the drama that occurred in the office and got his nurse fired for no reason other than Amedisys does not allow nurses to spend or build relationships with families and give them comfort. Also, they were angry for trying to get others to go to a better agency for their care. The day after my father passed no one called us, gave us support or even cared what horrible experience we had. We just received a survey and a sorry for your loss 50 days later. This phone call should have come from the office and the very person that fired his nurse if she was so apologetic. Amedisys only runs this hospice as a business and not to give comfort to their dying patients and family members. Hospice should be a place where we know our family members are in good hands. The nurses were great (big turnover because of the way they are treated and they also get fired for helping families feel better) but the problem is the office. They have drama and take it out on the people working hard in the community.
Desired outcome: Allow workers to be able to build relationships with families. Make sure you have continuous care for the patients. Do what is promised. These nurses are overworked. Relationships make a difference in people’s mental health status.
Set Up For TPN and Antibiotics For Son
My son was discharged from the hospital on 40/23 with a PICC line to have TPN and antibiotics administered. When nurse arrived on 04/24, she never came inside but spoke with my son who was outside. She claims he dismissed her and blew smoke in her face which isn't true. Amedisys delivered the medication late and now will not send anyone out. My son is suffering because of this.
Desired outcome: I want an apology for the slanderous report given by the nurse, and more empathy from them.
Oxygen supply
I am totally disabled 75 year old with black lung andCOPD. I require 10 LPM 02 24/7. I received prescribed amount of 02 tanks weekly for 4 years from Lincare. When I went with amedysis - hospice at Marietta ohio they drastically decreased the amount of 02 that I get without my doctors ok. They have been impossible to deal with. I don't have much longer to live and don't like having to fight fir life sustaining oxygen. They. act as if I belong to them. I do not. I will fight them till the end
Desired outcome: I want only what I have asked for ; the same amount of oxygen that I have received for 4 years
Service, lack of
I called two weeks ago and spoke with Amedisys in Goodlettsville, TN about obtaining their services through our doctor. The rep said, sure have the doc send the order. The doc did. The insurance authorized the visits and Amedisys NEVER SHOWED up nor did they call and tell us why. We did not receive a letter either. I left messages. I called the 24-hour...

The overnight nurse that my family had the unpleasure of meeting show very umcompassionent and very rude she has no bed aide minor act of prejudice and I don't not recommend her services to anyone.. this was our first time in counter with this company she is not a good representation of that
The other nurse that I have encounter were older ladies and I loved them . They were very understand and very informative. But the nurse that did my mom admission. She is not allowed back at home under any condition and feel like she should be held accountable for her actions.
Therapy
I asked to cancel therapy services. A WEEK later Carla sent therapist to the doctors office attempting to get the doctor to override OUR decision AFTER we canceled! The doctors office called to complain about threatening messages from Aggressive Carla! She even made fun of the doctors assistant language barrier. They are harrasing us and the doctor are over it! We have decided to try another company all because of Carla acting as an aggressive salesman and harrasing all involved! The doctor call and said, they will no longer recommend others. I will leave this review on every site I can.
Poor Service
My family had the unfortunate displeasure of working with this company. My mother has terminal cancer and was placed on hospice. The company came in to take care of her and made all kinds of promises of great care. What they fail to mention was that they would be rushing my mother, a woman who is in constant severe pain, and cannot move fast if her life depended on it. The attitude of a nurse named Jennifer was piss poor, she had the most terrible way of talking to someone who is dying. It makes me realize that not everyone in healthcare needs to be there. How could someone be cruel to someone who is not only sick but dying? Brooke is another nurse who came in and told my mother she had to change her medication when it was made clear that the medicine, she was referring to did not work to keep my mother's pain down. The CNAs that came in were under pressure and encouraged to rush the patient because Amedisys is severely understaffed, and the patient suffers due to this fact. Some CNAs left the company because they could not handle the workload of 10 patients a day. I spoke with a few other companies and inquired about CNA/Patient ratio, and they said there is no way their CNAs would have more than 6 patients because it's impossible to offer the proper patient care to more than 6 patients. Dr. Lamb the medical director, if he was aware of this, he is not someone that I would advise anyone to trust with the care of their loved ones. When we started speaking with another company concerning transferring, Amedisys tried to make it seem as if my mother was the problem, insinuating that she was mismanaging her medication. They sent over files with quite a bit of false information and the new hospice company refused to take on her case. The good thing is God sees all and knows all, He worked things out and another company took on my mother's case and is now offering her care. If at all possible, please don't leave the care of your loved ones in the hands of this company.
Service and end of life care
Hospice came into home and one member of the family locked rest of family off of any information or communication
My parents are 93 and do not remember what they did five minutes ago - how can this hospice group be a part of this when they are supposed to be working together with family for end of life care.
We have strangers that my parents do not know or never met before coming into house when they are alone. I call my dad and is so confused. Some nurses and aides or social workers come at eight in morning / parents are sleeping. Why is this hospice group so sneaky? What is being done or happening, no one tells us.
Mom was on one hospice group, but brother changed to this one because he personally knew nurse -
I did stop by house and this is what I saw - medicine next to where my dad is - when mom complains about her back hurting he gives the pills
Desired outcome: To be included in the end of life care of mother
Home health care nursing
The director terminated my son's in home nursing services, without informing me as his legal guardian. Now he is in the hospital in pain and lays there crying. On December 13, 2021, my son was discharged from Amedisys Home Health Care Agency. The say that it was due to the unsafe work environment that he created by his sexual remarks towards the nurses. Very unprofessional behavior by a nurse. Didn't want to stay and complete what was supposed to be done. I'm sure they are short of help but not speaking to a caregiver and a hateful attitude to the patient, the spouse and the caregiver.
Hospice Care
On November 2, 2021 we met with Dana to discuss what Amedisys had to offer and how their Hospice Care would be for my Father. We were told all about the bells and whistles by her and then on November 5, 2021 we met with Belinda who had a ton of paperwork and again were told how there would be 24/7 Nursing Care available. We brought my Dad home from the hospital on November 5, 2021 knowing he would go into Hospice and die at home. She ordered his meds STAT to be delivered here to the house. There was no instruction on how much morphine, lorazepam, or any of the other seriously dangerous medications that were not even delivered until 2:00 am the following morning so my dad went without any conform meds from 4:00 pm until almost 5:00 the following morning when I had to get on the phone with the director since there was no nurse coming and I had no idea how much to give him or how to administer. The nurse never showed up until I complained and not until the following evening after I continued to call through Saturday night. Upon his arrival, he came into the house, took blood pressure, O2 level and said "he's in the last stages" and was I in denial? Like I knew what to expect during last stages. Last stages could have lasted weeks. He was here a total of less than 10 minutes and left. My Dad passed at 2:15 am Sunday morning, after his leaving at 7:00 pm the night before. Nobody did anything to help me or my Dad during this time of his passing. Nothing they told us about all the "bells and whistles", "24/7 Nursing care", happened. When I called about the meds being delivered since I had nothing to give my Dad for comfort I was told they were on the way, then when I called a third time I was told they were in the process of getting them together at the pharmacy, therefore they were not on their way. They were a complete and total failure for my Dad and for me as his caregiver.
When he passed at 2:15 AM it took an hour for the social worker to arrive and the nurse that was supposed to be here to pronounce him dead was nowhere to be found. She had to call EMS, Fire Department, and Police in order for him to be pronounced. My Dad took his last breath at 2:15 AM but was not pronounced until 5:30 ish. I can say that the Social worker Ms. Vargas was very sweet and organized. She took charge and handled everything while we sat in the living room as the EMS, Police, and Fire Department came in and out of the house. She prayed with us and she is the only one who deserves to be recognized as doing her job, even though it all could have happened a little faster.
I would never recommend this company for any human being or loved one going into Hospice. They lied about everything they were selling us. If you cherish your loved ones, please keep looking somewhere else.
Desired outcome: For others to beware
Home Nursing Care
Let's start with the really important failure of the nursing care. My mother suffered a spinal injury that left her with little to no feeling below the point of injury. Amedisys was prescribed by the physician to provide skilled nursing for her in-home. She developed a bedsore that was incompetently tended to and allowed to advance to the point of infecting the bone beneath the wound.
My mother is now in full time skilled care and unlikely to ever return home as the we are told that the wound is so advanced that is unlikely to every heal.
Secondarily, our long term care insurer requested documents to process the claim on April 28. Amedisys didn't request the HIPPA release until June 30 which was returned exactly 71 minutes after the request was made. Their records contractor (MRO) required a separate HIPPA release which was received and returned on July 6. We are now told that the request will be processed in order of receipt despite being informed that the insurance claim will be closed due to lack of response for documentation on July 9.
Conclusion: Amedisys is incompetent in both the care of patients and administration of required documentation. Dealing with Amedisys has been challenging at best and life threatening in reality.
While working for this company the staff is great and give extrodinary care. This agency puts patients and family first.
Home Health Care
I was discharged from the hospital and Amedisys was assigned by PCP to provide home health care nursing care to change dressings on my skin grafts from knee surgery 2 x a week.
Amedisys told me there would be a delay because they were down two nurses. Well that delay is now seven days past my original expectation for care and my dressing change is way overdue.
Amedisys has a broken communication process and they are not pro-active in communicating delays. No one calls and the burden is on me to chase them down.
I am now filled with anxiety about my wound care and Amedisys does not care enough to prioritize my care
Desired outcome: Amedysis sends me a nurse to change dressings today
Did this happen during covid because this agency is great really
Employee
Yvonne Bucks. Director position? Could not tend to a hog, nasty and self-serving person. One company she worked for went down. Why? Too busy figuring a way around things to make a better income for herself... While people suffered under her watch. Leadership? Yep, she will play the game. Meanwhile, kill the staff... Hell on wheels. Example... She was to take call as a nurse, would come to me after three p.m. where I had not had a break the entire day... Say... Go admit this patient and then go home like she was doing me a favor, patient was almost an hour away and then two hours there, another hour back. Yeah, thanks. This was a repeat. I was asked by her to mentor an awesome male nurse doing a home-care admission after hours and quite a distance for no extra pay. She would do on-call but only when it suited her. Following her was a nightmare. Drug records wrong, left notes for supplies needed... She got paid... I suffered and had to spend time straightening things out. This is who you have working for you. It's okay if you share this with her as she knows that I told the truth. Would never treat people this way!
home nursing care, specifically the medical director, mary francis
The regular nurses genuinely care and try to help. The problem is the medical director, mary francis. Mary francis also does home visits and recertifications.in my opinion she is a liar and only tells the truth when you prove her wrong. She is rude and unprofessional. I expected the medical director to be well-dressed and knowledgeable. She arrived at our...
