AOL AOL

AOL has no email address to report complaints or problems, just a phone number. When I called AOL , it took 4 minutes before they answered I ask how to report fraud and was told that there was no way to report fraud. I was explicitly told that AOL does not have a Fraud Department. I did eventually find a site where they list past complaints (undated), as well as the AOL response to the complaints. Of the approximately 220 complaints that were listed, 20 were listed as resolved and 200 were listed as unresolved, so they obviously make little effort to deal with complaints. So four minutes to get to them, no email option to complain, and little effort by AOL to deal with this. My phone call took place on Saturday October 8, 2022 at 3 PM.

Desired outcome: AOL should 1) Set up a Fraud Dept, 2) make it accessible by email, 3) answer their phones faster, 4) deal with complaints, not just leave them unresolved, and 5) set up an independent group to review their handling of fraud and complaints.

AOL Annual fee for computer support

My father passed away in January 2022 and in April of 2022 his card was charged over 200.00 for an auto renew. Not knowing he signed up for this, I didn't know that until the charge appeared on card statement. When I called AOL they said they could not CANCEL. You cant bill a deceased person for computer support. I explained that he has not used it and wont. I called another department and no return calls to resolve the issue. I've cancelled the credit card in settling the estate so a check needs to be issued to the estate.

Desired outcome: REFUND

They don't do check anymore. You will never receive one. The subscription needs to be canceled and if a subscription is not paid for than there will be an out standing balance sitting on the account.

AOL AOL support of rape positive comments online

This complaint is regarding an AOL article regarding Lady Gaga cancelling a concert due to bad weather. On September 18, 2022 at approximately 6:40 pm, AOL censors allowed a man to make the comment that any woman that is sexually assaulted should learn something from the experience. He also made the comment that he would beat his daughters and granddaughter with a belt in order to prevent them from dressing in any way that may show their bodies. AOL allowed both these comments. I then commented that Rape is a crime and there is no justification for rape. I tried to make this comment in many different ways. In short, my comments were repeatedly denied, while AOL printed and supported the words of a man that clearly supports and justifies sexually assaulting women. This is inexcusable. I understand AOL's needs and rights to censor comments online. I understand that AOL is a private business. What I don't understand is AOL's support and justification of sexual assault and rape. I am personally OUTRAGED. We live in a society where one out of every three girls is sexually assaulted before graduating from High School. Where is there hope, if AOL tolerates rape talk online?

Desired outcome: I would like an apology from AOL and I would like at least one of my statements about the illegality of rape to be printed. This is not just for me. This is for all women, your daughters, your sisters, your mothers, your friends.

AOL AOL support

After many years of exemplary service, the AOL email customer support teams have not been functional for years. It was always remote. But when the world went to remote mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AOL got flummoxed. It took months of no response to get AOL to acknowledge that technical support (of any kind) for Windows 7 was non-existent. Then Internet Explorer disappeared. I finally gave up and tried to stop my billing. That took over a year.

Now the new AOL email format is unnegotiable. I cannot fathom why someone made this decision.

But I do know I do not need to pay for non-existent services!

Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response from someone whose philosophy in Life is not "If It Ain't Broke...Break It!

AOL POP/SMTP mail service for old Verizon email customers

Customer service provided no resolution, and only referred me to "Premium Customer Service" so from what I can tell the first bunch is not customer service at all, they perform a few perfunctory BS moves that don't work and then tell you they want to forward you to the "Premium (paid for by you) Customer Service" what a scam...My email quit working but the regular customer service wouldn't even try the troubleshooting steps I suggested IE pinging the POP and SMTP servers. "we can't do that" they said and offered no reason why not, I asked to speak with a supervisor they replied "They are all in a meeting" (9:00PM Romania time, Can you have the Supervisor call me back "They cannot do that",again no reason. AOL is trying to milk money 39.95 a month for Customer Service. I have never in my life had to pay for this. So in this case there is no Customer Service unless you pay for it.

AOL AOL comments sections - AOL is biased!

I have absolute proof positive that aol does not "reject" commentors' language, but commentors themselves!

I have attached two screenshots of two comments that were made and "rejected" by aol's communist monkey patrol, because "the launguage was offensive"! Lmaorofl!

There is nothing "offensive" about these comments at all! They are clean comments with no bad language, no threats to anyone, and no curse words of any kind! And yet, these 100% clean comments were "rejected" for "bad language"!

Aol is now 100% a communist ran site!

Desired outcome: Would love to see every AOL employee shut down, fired, and never be able to find work again!!!

If you ever go on this site again. It might be to late but that's a fake email. Look at the email sender first. Go ahead and call Aol. Ask them to send you an email of how to regard official Aol email. Decline their pitch they do one on every single call. Once they tell you they sent the email. They will try to manipulate you that if you buy a product it "might" help you

AOL Service, standards and support are all abysmal

Unfortunately, I got dumped onto AOL by Verizon, and since I really didn't want to go through the laborious process of notifying everyone on Earth about a new email account (one that I've had for at least two decades), I stuck with AOL.

Their app is slow and clunky and, more often than not, failed to work. The webmail version is slightly better in that is operational at least 75% of the time, but it's still clunky and minimal. It feels like the same email system AOL was using in the 1990s.

Support might as well be non-existent. Whenever I've tried to contact support (emphasis on the word "tried") I've gotten no useful information. If I do connect with a human, it's not a human who has any customer service skills and certainly no minimal command of the language.

And I have to echo something that have been mentioned by other reviewers: AOL's bias. One "feature" (note the quotes) of AOL is that they shove their news feed in your face. Maybe there's a way to shut it off, but I really don't feel like wasting time doing that. That said, their news is always very politically biased. And God forbid one post a comment that goes against that bias. The other day, I posted a quote from a March 24, 2022 article in Rasmussen Reports that stated 66% of Americans thought the Hunter Biden laptop story was important. This comment resulted in me being banned. I looked through their Community Guidelines and could find nothing to justify the ban. No misinformation, no abusive comments, no threats to personal safety or property. The only thing I can figure is that AOL finds the quote from Rasmussen to be "objectionable content" since it goes against their political bias.

AOL Censorship right to free speech in communty blog/comment sections

Like so many other people, this biased leftist group is censoring all comments supporting Donald Trump for 2024 republican candidate. They are also now censoring comments about AOL censoring. This is a complete monopoly and control over discourse. Their rhetoric is radicalized. There are obvious stacking comments happening by their own employees also. This has become a place for radical leftist propagandizing and exclusion of the American right to free speech.

Desired outcome: That AOL stop censoring Americans

AOL locked email account.

I've had same aol email acct 20- yrs. on 8-11-22 they locked it due to "unusual activity". on same day I spent over 2 hrs with 3 different barely english speaking agts. trying to prove my id.. I sent I-phone pics of my tx d/license which they said they couldnot confirm. I've had same License for 58 yrs. The ph # on my acct was my old business landline. I never updated it because didn't want it sold. aol says they don't do that! This ph # was disconnected over 3 yrs ago when man I sold my co. to went bankrupt. gave them another email I use just for ebay,. they found that. then told sorry I have to wait till monday 8-15-22 so system can "reset" whatever that means "this was thursday. so I wait 5 days and get a man I can understand for the most part.@ approx 2pm cst. andy" he denied other I-phone scans of my d/l, then gave me a security id. question I submited 20- yrs ago. name of my school. did not recall if it was grade/jr high/or high school I used. I went with high school. Told him madison high, Maybe I put whole name james madison high. they denied that. then gave them my ebay related email, they found that but still had problemwith school name. after giving my class of 1968 and info about my diploma on wall beside my desk., he relented. however he required me to take each letter of madison and form a different word. ie: m=maybe /a=apple etc. insulted my intelligence with stupid garbage like that. but I complied. then "congrats" all you need to do is buy a monthly security plan for $15.99 monthly so we will help you on phone if you call. I asked, "will I still be made to do all this dumb stuff"? yes was the reply. after 10 no thankyou's. I'm not paying for something that is free and was not my fault to start with. still not taking no for an answer. I said if your security for email was better then my acct wouldnot have been hacked. my answer was if I didn't buy at least a $9.99 plan he would not go further. they kept me on the ropes over an hour then hit you with blackmail purchase to get your email back. corporate theft is all this is. only caps I used are for words intended to start with caps. yet to comply I changed all.

Desired outcome: I want my Email rightfully unlocked without a forced purchase . This was their fault ,not mine . I guess a 20- yr loyalty means nothing anymore

AOL Email

My email account was hacked and compromised. Customer support was worthless and wanted more money (on a monthly basis no less) to fix what should have been in their security protocols to begin with.

Email was hacked by [protected]@gmail.com who has been contacting my contacts asking for money. AOL refused to track this hacker or fix my email which I have had for 20 years. Verizon and AOL should be prosecuted.

Desired outcome: restore secure email and find the hacker that did this

It's not AOL blocking, it's the OpenWeb service they are using that has a leftist liberal global agenda. Get rid of OpenWeb, use Disqus, as OpenWeb has a communist agenda and is against free speech. OpenWeb stores profiles in their database that blocks persons they deem as problematic; the problem is they deem any conservative as 'problematic' and you will be banned, and AOL has to go along with this because OpenWeb demands that any company using them has to go along with their global censorship agenda. We should boycott Verizon (owns AOL & Yahoo) until they drop OpenWeb and use another commenting service.

AOL AOL Mail

I have tried to log into my aol account without success. When I click forgot password the next prompt says "Im sorry we cannot help you with this request, please try again later. I called customer support and they asked me the security question and I answered without success. We then used the site recovery.aol.com to obtain a security code to give to my support specialist AND THAT DID NOT WORK for the specialist. I was then told by the specialist that the error does not make sense. That is the reason we have the code for these issues and that DOES NOT WORK! I was then told by support to just keep trying more passwords. WHY, when the security question DOESNT WORK, the verification code that is generated by AOL support DOES NOT WORK. Why is my recovery email and telephone number I set up NOT WORKING? WHY am I having to call a service that requires PAYMENT for a FREE EMAIL? AOL please help and make the necessary changes for your customers. Thank you! I don't want to Tweet a customer help line or anything else. I want to be able to click forgot password and actually be able to recover a new one. Or I would like for customer support to ACTUALLY be able to provide support. Thank you [protected]@aol.com

Desired outcome: I would LOVE to have an opportunity to regain access to my email address.

AOL News and comments

AOL states they are not responsible for posters comments. Yet they they go through the comments and censor ones they don't like so doesn't that make them RESPONSIBLE since they are censoring comments? Only comments they like are allowed so they are responsible for that comment being allowed to stay! They censored a post of mine "See that 1 point by my name?". And censored this post "It has been reset to 1 so many times." And then the rest of post "AOL likes to restrict controversial comments from some people by changing the comment points so it looks like I'm a bot. At one point I was over 10k now I'm a 1. Who knows if they'll even let me post this comment. After all I am calling them out for censorship!" Let's see if I can post the word Hi. God damn they won't let me post at all! NOTHING! Communist [censored]! Hey Elon buy AOL and shut it down!

Desired outcome: STOP CENSORING MY 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH!

AOL is half right: they aren't the ones censoring, they are sneaky about that because the ones doing all that unfair censoring is OpenWeb, the service AOL uses to run comments. You will see at the bottom of the commenting sections the name OpenWeb; when AOL allowed OpenWeb to set up their comment software on AOL pages, that was the downfall of free speech, because OpenWeb has a posted global agenda on their website that is for quieting all conservative voices, which it does by adding all persons into their database that then permanently blocks you from commenting. OpenWeb is the one censoring your 1st amendment rights; boycott Verizon who owns aol and yahoo and lets this communistic commenting service control all dialogue on their websites. Right now Disqus, as super imperfect as they are, is far better than communistic OpenWeb that is silencing ALL older americans from participating in online posts. OpenWeb favors commenters that formerly were seen as trolls, that is the new commenting darlings.

AOL Comment section on News information.

AOL has decided to censor my comments . Each time I attempt to leave a comment the censorship statement occurs that it violates their community agreement. If I type a word , such as "Good" in the comments the message will appear of said violations. There has never been a message to me that would suggest why or when this censorship will be lifted. My messages contained no threats or slander which can be numerously seen on other posts with opposing viewpoints. This is true censorship. OK AOL, you've had your fun. I'm a Gold member and pay for your services while I'm quite sure many of the other participants do not.

Desired outcome: Remove censorship

I am offended by the numerous spam email my wife and I get which are explicitly sexually oriented and very offensive. In addition are the scores of additional spams that are impossible to delete and designed to only further aggravate when such attempts are made.

AOL Censorship of comments

AOL has censored my comments on their news pages beginning 5/27/2022. This was done without notice. This inhibits free speech and debate on what AOL considers news. Numerous attempts to find out what was violated remain unanswered. Copies of each censored comment have been sent to my Representative and both US Senators. Hundreds of postings of hate and slander continue to flood the comment section as long as they carry a narrative AOL 's biased reporting is looking for.

Desired outcome: Allow comments for open dialect and free speech.

AOL AOL's one-sided politics postings. Only criticizing Republicans point of view.

Ever since I've been a member of aol... there has been a very Liberal Democrat biased slant on all the news reported. Never any criticism of Joe Biden... or any of these other radical Democrats, or burning down the cities in the summer of 2021. The Black Lives Matter fraud, and misuse of funds, etc, etc, etc. At least try not to be so obvious in your reporting... it's really not the best way to go for the betterment of America. Thank you, Daryl Weisser
