Secured Card rip-off
I applied for a secured credit card from Applied Bank. I was told that I would receive my card within 30 days. When that did not happen, I called and found out they "had a problem" with my application. I then cancelled my app and told them I wanted a refund of MY money. They told me it would take another 30 days to send it back. Funny... it took only 2 days for them to take it. And I still don't have my money back. When I call, they just blow me off. I don't know if I'll ever see my money again! I'm thinking "lawsuit".
If you've had a problem with this bank, please post and let them know that we're out here.

Secured Visa
Applied for a secured Visa from them March 3, 2009. Provided a checking account information and authorized them to take out $350 for a minimal line of credit. Was told that I'd receive a card within the next 72 hours. Checked status on March 10. Learned that $350 had been taken out from my checking account, yet no confirmation of approval. That same day, faxed a letter to [protected] requesting to cancel card request and to return $300 (less $50 for their processing fee). As of March 26 2009 have yet to hear from them.

This company is a scam! I applied with Applied Bank on 06/29/09 for a secured account and on 07/01/09 they debited my inital deposit of $200.00 and I verified the account through their website as instructed. After about 9 days I called them to check on the account and they said the account information for my bank was never verified and thats all they were waiting on so I faxed them the info and then the next week it was that I needed to verify my address, I faxed them that info as well and then the next week it was oh it was sent to wrong department and we will fix it and should have your card soon. Well not trusting thses i have called again and found out that nothing has been done and im still in limbo as of today 07/27/09, 4 WEEKS AFTER MONEY WAS DEBITED! They of course are going to take 30 days to get my money back to me! RIP OFF ARTISTS!
fraud
I missed 2 payments this summer because of a flood/out of job, I set up payments twice a month 40$ each time (minimum payment was 50). They kept charging me LATE fees'+-30$ and Overlimit fees +-30$ every month! The past 2 months have withdrew 40$ payments from my bank account UNAUTHORIZED (then called me and told me I havent made any payments recently)! I spoke with 2 people there, one who told me I authorized through the internet then continued to tell me not to worry about it because it was helping my balance (obviously not), the other said I authorized via phone back in Sept. ?!?!?!
How can these people do this?!

Applied bank...
Worst credit card company.
They will steal money from you.
Applied bank credit card. Bottom line a FRAUD...
They are criminals and I just sued them and won.
Do NOT waste your time and apply for Applied Bank. They are charging fees and creating you to go over the limit. The rude lady on the phone told me, "you agreed to be screwed over by signing the agreement with us". I echo the reports of others on here about how rude and their charges are fraudulent. My account has never been over the limit for better than 3 months but yet they keep charging me the "over the limit" $32.00 fee. I am closing my account with them today.
DO NOT do business with Applied Bank. They will rip you off in a hearbeat! They will take your money for a secured credit card, not send you the card and then not return your money. After many phone calls, I still don't have my money back. They just blow you off and don't care.
This is exactly what happened to me but I did not know they were part of Cross Country. Now they are trying to file a writ to sieze my assets! When I was trying to pay them they took my payments and said I didn't make them and charged late/over the limit fees!
Good luck with trying to close your account - it will cost you.
thieves
when opening a secured credit card account with them, i authorized them to deduct $250 from my checking account. when i downloaded my checking transactions to Quicken today, i found out these thieves deducted $2500. when i called them, they had the nerve to tell me i must have entered it wrong (i didn't. i checked and rechecked the form before i submitted it), and that it will take 2 weeks to get my money back.

Unethical practices, fees
Joining in the long line of customers that Applied Bank has ripped off...I called their so-called customer service to dispute the late, over the limit and cash advance fees on my statement that ballooned my monthly dues to $203.00.
Because I made a minimum payment before my statement was processed I was charged a late fee as explained by their customer service rep. I asked them to apply the payment to the current billing statement and he said he would submit a request to do so. I still have not seen the late fee reversed.
I was charged a cash advance fee for accepting a limit increase. Mind you I already paid the ridiculous fee of $100 to get an increase and they have the nerve to nickle and dime me with a cash advance fee!
Adding to my heft bill was an over the limit fee that came as a result of being charged an annual fee, which also is subject to a cash advance fee.
It is a typical case of the hard working man being f**ked over by greedy, predatory banks like Applied Card. I vomit when I see banks asking the government for money while they rape you monetarily and turn a deaf and unsympathetic ear to very customers that keep their sorry ### rich and fat.

I am with you on this one. Getting a card with them was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I was finding it impossible to keep up with the fines, fees, charges to pay my bill online and these charges kept piling up and it seemed that the more I paid them the more I owed them. I finally gave up. I have not sent them a cent in almost 6 months. Their employees overseas rang my cell phone constantly for about 3 months (I never answered it). Back in the fall I moved but kept my unlisted landline which is a number they didn't have but somehow they got it. Now they are trying to trick me into answering the phone by having my caller ID show "Incomplete Data". I will not talk to them. I would like to pay them off but the fees are over the top! Out of the $1200 I owe them I bet my purchases are less than $200. They have sent a couple of offers to close the account and clear my credit history with them but the amount they offer is still too high. Trying to hang in to see if they sell the account to someone else. I would work with someone else but not with them, no way! They are theives and criminals as far as I am concerned and I will not give them a dime. I have other credit cards and have an excellent payment history with them as well as other financial obligations. No problems with anyone else. If you are considering getting a credit card or doing any business with APPLIED BANK, think again...don't do it! They will rob you.
Rudeness, harassment and fees
Applied Card bank have been the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are rude and if you ever get late on your account they will harrass you . This company have called my house and cell phone over 20 times each in a days time. They are really bad on Sundays. If you speak with them and tell them that you are unavailable and to call you at a certain time they will not take that and continue to talk and continue to call you every minute of that day and will not call at that hour that you ask them to call. I was late on my payment and had told them that I would make my payment on my payday. I receive a call on my cell that day. I told them that I would make my payment and to call me or I would call them as soon as I got home and that I was leaving work and it would take me about 30 minutes to an hour to get home. Once I got home then I would make my payment. The represntative called me a liar because I was suppose to make my payment the day before and I needed to set it up at the time he was on the phone. He refused to let me get home and refused to get off the phone. Once I hung up he called right back and was very aggressive. I feel that there should be laws to protect Americans from this kind of harrassment and rudeness. The representative barely understood English but still could speak enough to be rude.

predatory lending/usary
Wow! This card has been a nightmare. I have credit available, but they decline charges. Each month I get at least one charge - along with the $10.95 monthly fee. More often than not, I get two charges, amounting to over $70, in addition to the $10.95 monthly fee. I have paid and paid and paid, to keep my credit strait - but I am really fed up with their tricky ways. They add fees on top of fees, many of the fees are not even evident until it is too late to take care of them and avoid more fees. The customer service people are not helpful - and one of the numbers seems to go to service agents in India who are impossible to talk to or understand. It does not matter anyway - they will not help and keep mentioning that they are following the agreement I signed. It seems the agreement I signed has just enough loop holes to keep them legal and me in debt. I have 5 other credit cards now, and none of them have been evil like this.

worst place i have ever done business with. I have been trying for a week to talk to a rep. have not talked to anyone yet
Ridiculous Fees
Okay, so pretty much I got this card to use for Christmas and then cut the sucker up so I could pay it off. Well, I am getting nowhere!
I always made my payments on time and then, last month, I noticed my check hadn't cleared after two weeks. So I login to my Applied Bank account and there it is...a $32 late fee. So, now I am wondering where is my check? Did it get lost in the mail or did they just toss it so they could charge me this late fee (I honestly believe they do this to people to make money.)
So I call customer service and they give me this whole schpeel about how I have to write or fax a letter to billing disputes to see if they will do anything for me. Meanwhile, to get my account current, I pay a $12.95 fee to process my payment over the phone. They have now made $44.95 off of me.
So a few weeks later I get a letter stating that they will credit me for $25 since I have always made my payments on time. Whatever!?! You still made $19.95 off of me, of which it was not my fault.
So, now I decide that I will setup my payment to automatically come out of my bank account throught their website a few days before my due date just because I am now afraid that they will not receive my payment if I mail it.
What a shock?! I login to check on my account I have a late fee posted. But my payment has been posted before the due date and I selected minimum payment due (which showed $54.00) and selected a date before the due date.
So, now I'm so irritated ( what else is new?) and I call customer service. I actually deal with two very nice people ( i know shocking) who inform me that my minumum payment was actually $54.05 and that the computer only does whole numbers so it should have rounded it up to $55.00. Now I have been stuck with a $32 late fee for 5 cents! Yes, 5 cents of which was not my fault. So i immediately faxed a letter with all of the details, also informing them of how UNHAPPY i am doing business with them.
Last night, I open my mail, and my request for a credit has been DENIED!
I totally believe that I am being screwed and from the looks of it so are a bunch of other people. So how do we go about getting a class action suit together because I am absolutely done dealing with this ignorant bank!?!
Welcome to the club. Applied is NOT a "Bank"...this is a fraud. They're using this label to imply legitamacy. I (we) understand paying a premium in the way of monthly fees etc., because of our current credit conditions, but these fraudulent and exhorbitant Late/Overlimit Fees are just rediculous and illegal. These are preditory scam atrtists at best and are currently being investigated? by atleast two States AG offices (NY & MN) for starters. I suggest we each write a well-crafted letter-of-compaint to our respective AG's Office, and send copies to the Fair Credit Reporting Agency, SEC, FTC, Congressmen, Senators and anyone else you can think of. Check consumeraffairs.com for THOUSANDS MORE COMPLAINTS!
I don't like this banks practice either and i need to get rid of them. if anyone finds out about a class action suit please email me.
thankyou
Scam and cheating
I don't know if this is legal, if it is something needs to be done. I admit my account is pretty well maxed. But every month I am hit with a huge over the limit fee. I don't use my credit card, I'm trying to get it paid down. So how do I get over my limit? Fees! Every month I get some trumped up fee that sends me over the limit, even though I take into account fees and other charges when I make my payments and pay extra to cover them. It doesn't matter!
This month I was charged $10.95 for maintenance fee, ok that's to be expected. Then $6.95 online payment fee. Ok. But that wasn't enough to send me over the limit. Then they slap on a finance charge for 'Purchases' $13.63 and 'Cash Advances' $4.05 As I said I don't use my card. What purchases? Well that sent me over the limit and I'm then charged a $32.00 fee for that. So instead of a $30 payment like it should be I'll be paying $70 yet again.
If I pay $30 extra to cover any fees, I guarantee you they will charge over $30 in trumped up fees and charges to send me over the limit. It would be great if I could pay down $100 or $200, but at this time in my life I can't. How did I get my account so close to the limit? Fees!

Rediculous and Hidden Charges
I don't know where to start!
A couple years ago I had applied and received a credit card from Applied bank. After I seen my first bill I was shocked and decided to close the account. I paid off all the rediculous charges and closed the account...(End of that card)
However, I receieved another solicitation for a credit card from a different company and accepted their card. I recevied my first bill for the this card and low and behold the bank was AppliedBank again. They had hidden their solicitation to make it look like it was someone totally different.
Before I recieved my bill I had made 3 purchases I believe, 100.00, 30.00 and I think 62.00 for a total of 192.00. I then find out that I am over drawn on the card and now the charges, phone calls, harrasment, rude people etc. will not stop.
I called the people to see why they did this scam under some scrupulous name and suckered me in again AFTER I had stated to them before concerning my first card that I did not want ANYTHING to do with their companies, affiliates, entities etc. ever again and do NOT send me any offers. I continue to get crap from them even after I have one of their trash cards.
So like I said, I called them (rude as all get out people) and told them that I was not going to pay another nickle and they could try and tarnish my credit if they want. I have three other credit cards with higher limits and have never been late on a payment with any other creditors until these lepers came along.
I understand that there are lawsuits going on now against Applied Bank and their partners in New York, Pennsylvania and a couple other states as a result of people like me being taken for a ride.
If you have any information about lawsuits going on in Michigan concerning these predetors please let me know.
Thank you in advance,
Robert S. Shaw
I dont have a card with them, but they have my telephone number and mmy cell number, (I don't know how they got that) and my 800 number for my office. I don't do business with them yet they call 5 or more times a day!
Horrifying & obscene fees
I foolishly have a credit card with Applied Bank, never investigating it before I got my card. I have had the account for a couple of years now and have ALWAYS made my payments on time. Recently, due to no error of my own, Applied Bank claims to have received one payment of mine 4 days late and they are now charging me $180.00 over and above my last ON TIME payment to this account! I called to speak to customer service and was told although I do have an excellent payment history, there is nothing they can do. They want the $180.00! This Bank is getting away with ROBBERY! Stay away from Applied Bank!

scam of false charges and lies
I recently contacted you in regards to account number [protected] on or around March 20th 2008 in regards to the current status of my account. I reached a representative to whome I explained my current situation.
Credit Limit Available Credit Days in
Billing Cycle Billing Cycle
Closing Date Payment Due Date Amount Past Due Minimum Payment
$1200.00 $- 263.00 29 03/2/2008 03/27/2008 $210.00 $347.00
I spoke to the representative about the current status of my account being past due in the amount of 210.00 and a minimum payment due of 347.00. The representative that I spoke with on that day enrolled me into a program that Applied Card bank had known as a hardship program. Under the agreement that the representative enrolled me under the situation was stated that starting April 16th the amount of 100.00 dollars would be withdrawn from my account. Subsequently on the may 16th, and on June 16th consecutively that a payment would be withdrawn from this account.. According to your website you have received 2 of the three payments as shown below.
Payment Post Date Amount Method
05/16/08 $100.00 MULTI CUST SVC PYMT
04/16/08 $100.00 MULTI CUST SVC PYMT
As these payments were being processed to get my account up to date according to the representative advised me that only one charge of 12.95 for the first payment would be charged along with a suspension of any over draft or late fees for the months of march April may, and June that would normally be assessed would not be charged to the account and at the end of the three month period my account would be satisfied as up to date.
I kept receiving letters, phone calls and emails about my account not being up to date so around may first I check with my online account access and found that after my payment was received I was charged a over the limit amount of 35$ and a late fee of 35$ on 3/2/2008 and on may 2nd 2008 after payment was made and after a verbal agreement was reached with your representative a month prior. Wondering if there was a mistake in my account I called into your customer service line at [protected] I explained to the representative the situation as explained above and they advised me that after the program was completed that all the charges would be refunded. This was not acceptable because so I requested they be removed so that I have an accurate reflection on my account because along with the payment and the fees which would still accrue interest at the 29.00% interest rate and the representative is not able to answer so he transferred me to a manager the manager advised me there was nothing he could do and he would submit the issue to the correspondence department for review and someone would get back to me with in 24-48 hours
After this time I had not received any communication regarding my inquiry and so I contacted Apllied card bank back at the same corresponding number. I spoke with another representative who again could not provide me any additional information so transferred me to another supervisor who placed me on hold while she communicated with another line manager about the current issue with my account. The supervisor advised me that since my account was not enough payments passed due that the original representative that set me up on the hardship account had no write to do that because the program was still in a testing phase.. but that since the original agreement was made that she would talk with her direct supervisor or director and that they would get the account balance were it was suppose to be. She provide name and extension of herself and direct supervisor which I can supply upon request.. After a couple of days with again no communication I called back and was giving the same information that it was a mistake on there end and they would rectify the situation. And that there is nothing they can do at the moment about the current fees. I called back several more times being transferred to a number of departments where no one could provide me a resolution to the issue above. If upon request would like documentation on the phone calls made I can supply a phone bill because of the long distance number being called and the exact amount of time on the phone trying to come to a resolution.
I called again one more time today May 22, 2008 and spoke with a supervisor who said that they would not honor the original verbal agreement made because the representative that made the arrangements was not authorized to make them. So I again advised them of the situation and advised that I have been completely accountable for my part making my payments when requested and asked again for the 4 356$ fees to be removed and have my account reflect a current amount of 1347 dollars as originally agreed. And that I should not be punished or made to pay more because applied card bank could not keep the verbal agreement that it originally made instead the supervisor said she could enroll me in another hardship program where I would pay an additional 6 months of 90 dollar payments an that I would again not be charged late or over the limit fees and that my interest rate would also be reduced to 22% this is unacceptable
ITRIED TO SETTLE WITH APPLIED BANK BUT THEY DIDNT WANT TO SETTLE I HAVE givin 556.00 in payments in 5 months and have only charged 399.00 I feel i am payed in full
Terrible experience!
Like a fool I accepted this card. I paid my payments until I got sick in February of 2008 and contacted them. I explained to these people that I was disabled and with their protection policies it should cover the charges. They charged me outrageous fees for late fees and for anytime I used the card. Also they charge a monthly fee of $10.95 regardless if you use it or not.
I tried to cancel the card and told them I would pay them when I was able to return to work and they do care. I have been harassed by them and I am only behind on one payment. Then they charged $32.00 for being late after I notified them. I have pneumonia and I am disabled anyways. I draw Social Security benefits and I owe more than the card even began with. Every week they charge more money.
This is the worst company I have ever seen and should be checked into.

Predatory lending!
I used to work for Applied Card Bank/i would happy to talk to any lawyers suing ACB for predatory lending.
i could not agree more a gentlmen called me stating he was from a law firm represnetingg applied bank and set up 2 consecutive payments for me but i unfortunately misplaced his number and needed to contact him about one of the payments when i contacted applied bank about this gentlemen they told me that my account was still with them and that they only send accounts to either collection or there credit collections department and that they couldn't identify this gentlmen.
Scam and lies!
My experience with them began in February of this year and ended pretty abruptly when I found out the truth about Applied Bank. This is, in fact, the very same CROSS COUNTRY BANK that ripped off THOUSANDS of people and caused headaches for many more.
I fell for an email ad that came through asking me if I wanted to apply. I was told I was 'pre-approved' for a special offer. This was nothing more than a scam. The application was simple and all seemed well at first... I filled it out and was approved immediately. Then I got a sickening feeling in my stomach like something was VERY wrong here. So...
I began to do some digging online and ran across the very company that Cross Country Bank had used to harass and degrade consumers: Applied Card Services. So I called Applied Bank and was told that it was a mistake and they were not Cross Country Bank, they had nothing to do with Applied Card Services, blah blah blah. I called the PA Attorney General's office and sure enough... the man on the other end, who did not give his name, told me that they were ONE IN THE SAME and that the AG's office will soon be filing a lawsuit against this company for deception and attempting to gain an injunction against them to stop them from ever doing business in PA again.
Eventually, I also found the REAL terms of the card I applied for: 29.75% interest rate... charged from the get-go. The fees begin the minute the card is printed --without you having to activate the card. There is no grace period on new purchases -- you have to pay interest right off the bat. There are two fees. One is a $50 fee charged for issuing the card to you. The other is an astronomical $100 annual fee. And the card only has a $350 credit line. This is the biggest rip off on earth if you ask me.
I called Applied Bank and told them I wanted to cancel. They told me that I could not cancel, and that I was stuck with the card because I asked for it. Then the person I spoke with hung up. I called again, said I wanted to cancel. The person became indignant and began using obscene language, then hung up. The third person I spoke with did cancel the account. Just to make sure though...
Caveat Emptor... Buyer Beware!

This company targets people with low to bad credit and charges monthly maintance fees. they state its to help report your credit but when you pull you credit report they show up under an area thats states companys that could be neg. affecting you credit score. They will not help with any credits they changed their cycle date for their montly fees from the 30th to the 1st and billed you two fees on one statement within the same billing cycle and will not issue credit for them. when you ask question about the fees they read a statement and will not give you a correct answer nor will they issue credits for the two fees that they charged in the same cycle. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY BAD NEWS. they want to take the american money and pay foreiner to work for them instead of keeping the money that we spend with them in the US. I hope they get fined, and go thorough a major law suit.
Were do i begin with these scamers closed my account after i got my aug bill they charged me 8.00 for using there free customer number its not free then a 10.95 maintenance fee that put me over credit limit then a 32.00 over limit fee after that i closed my account .

This company is run by a few thugs they will not delete the negative report of my credit even though i provided them with prove that i never had an account with them complete rip off
applied bank are nothing but lairs and excuse i never received a card and we got calls from them but they never said to who or from who so i called and demanded my money back they said 30 days he it is way over the 30 days I called back wanting my money they never canceled so than they said 72 hour here it is over 72 hour and still no money back now they are saying tonight or Wednesday it should show in my account i finally told them if it was not there by Wednesday i am going to law enforcement because they are now saying the electronically deposited Friday so i believe there is no reason why its not there
Applied Bank is the worst! Can't wait to pay it off and close the account and close it! Never use them, try another company, do make the mistake of using them, you will be sorry!
Applied Bank is a joke! I applied for one of their secure cards and gave them my checking account and routing number for payment, but decided to cancel my application thanks to the horrendous reviews I was reading about them online. Anyways, the next day they opened (Monday), I spoke to one of their ghetto call reps. (Alexcia) who told me it would be cancelled, yet they (Applied Bank) still took money out of my bank account two days later. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Comission and would urge everyone to do the same. I'm curretly working with my bank to have the funds restored. Oh, and each time I called Applied Bank to complain about the error, I got a looped message that kept saying their lines were busy and that I would be on hold for 5 minutes. Roughly 25 minutes later, I got through. Thanks to the french woman with an accent. I'm sure she had no idea what I was talking about!
Scam charges and lies!
Stay away from this Bank card... They charge you $100.00 for an increase in your credit account... My wife also has an account with them... She sent a payment in on the 3rd. of Dec... which she has done for more than a year... The payment wasn't due until the 11th... They charge 39.00 for a late fee and 39.00 for an overdraft fee... Well in holding the payment until the 13th they put her into that overpayment and late payment bracket... We thought if we accepted the creditline increase we would be alright... NOT... They charged us another $100.00 for that...
We keep sending in the regular payment of $37.00... But now they say that she is past due $116.00 and the min. payment due is $209.00... At this point she isn't over drawn... She has $128.00 unused credit... But they closed her account and said if she paid the $206.00 they would take the negative credit report off of her credit report... This is like holding her credit hostage...
This Bank is a total SCAMMM... There is nothing that they can say that can explain what has happened... Except that they RIPPED us OFF... for the $100.00 increase... And for HOLDING the Payment until it was past due... They Know What Their Doing When It Comes to Overdraft & late fees... I also have an account with them... WE ARE BOTH Paying Them Off In Full Next Month... And Closing My Account... Hers is already closed... PLEASE DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK>>>APPLIED BANK CARD...

I have paid off my Applied Card bank in 2006, which after I never heard a word about. Now in 2011 I got a call from them saying that I owe $846 which I paid 564 in 2006 to pay it off with a $500 credit limit. Now, they are saying I owe this outstanding amount and can't tell me why. They never can tell me what or how I accumulated this amount especially when they see that I paid it off. I had the same phone number and never had contacted me until last week. What can I do...
Cross Country Bank was serviced by Applied Card Systems, both owned and operated by Rocco Abessinio. If Cross Country Bank changed its name to "Applied Bank", it is done to clean its reputation/image as a predator, but a Zebra CANNOT remove its stripes. Their operation however will remain the same; the fleecing of the American consumers.
Applied Card Bank is the new name for Cross Country Bank. Cross Country Bank has the worst reputation of any credit card issuer that I am aware of. That's probably why they changed their name. They were sued by some states, including New York. If you search for Cross Country Bank, you will find a plethora of complaints.
One person wrote something like, "When you deal with them, treat them as thugs, criminals, and loan sharks... because they are."
It's unfortunate that they are still in business. The OCC regulates the vast majority of credit card companies (pretty much all credit card issuers except for those that are not federally chartered banks). All major credit card companies are now federally chartered. The SOLE MAJOR issuer that was NOT federally chartered until about a year or so ago was Capital One (they used to be state chartered).
Any person can complain to the OCC. The problem is that OCC regulators are more concerned about the solvency of a credit card issuer than they are about consumer complaints and the predatory practices of an issuer.
One final note... Despite the number of complaints and governmental actions against Cross Country Bank, now known as Applied Bank, the Better Business Bureau gives them a rating of A+, and, while noting that several states have sued the company, they say that the 950 complaints they've received from people have all been resolved. I have read that the Better Business Bureau can and does refuse to take complaints at their discretion, though, and when they don't take a case, they don't list it in the number of complaints received. Thus, the actual number of complaints received by the Better Business Bureau about Cross Country / Applied Bank may be significantly more than 950. Nonetheless, if you are having a problem with Applied Bank, you might want to complain to the Better Business Bureau. Perhaps it will be one of the complaints they'll accept, in which case you'd have a chance of resolving the matter in your favor.
The bottom line is to COMPLETELY AVOID doing business with this issuer if you haven't already. Also, Applied Bank issues credit cards which don't always have the name Applied Bank on the front of the card (e.g., the Platinum Zero Credit Card). So check what bank is actually issuing the card you're planning to apply for before you actually apply -- you should always be able to find it if you read the information in the site carefully.
I have had similar problems with this bank credit card. The only way out is to pay large amounts and get out. The other day I was having problems with the online banking site. The challenge question asked for my spouses middle name. I'm NOT married...DUH. When I called and spoke to someone in customer service they did help me sign on and change my hint questions. I looked at my bill a couple days later and there was an excessive sign in charge of $.50. Not a big charge BUT a charge none the less.
I am paying off my Applied card. They make sure they put your services charges on before your payment is due so if you are like me and run close sometimes, they can charge you an over the limit fee.
For 3 months I paid $75 to $90 payment and did not use my card yet I could never apply enough money to pay all the charges they assessed! I canceled my card and am getting it paid off.Don't get involved with this company-they are bad new
i agree they try to scam and when they try to work out percentages they do not honor any type of ageement even if it is b fult there adimssion so i have sent letters to bbb attorney genreal and to there head Q to compalin
You guys need to read the fine print here. While this Company is a total ripoff, if you read the information included with the offers, you will see the additional charges are fully explained. I had 2 accounts with Applied Bank. Once my credit was repared, I paid off my accounts and told them good ridance. They are fee mongers.
Extreamly high fees!
They charge $10.95 monthly fee plus $6.95 to pay online. If you are late the charge is $35.00 the over the limit charge is $35.00. they cashed my check for $8.00 instead of $80.00 so they charged me $35.00 late fee as well as a $35.00 over the limit fee. They told me they cannot refund charges you have to submit in writing a complaint but until then you have to pay your monthly bill plus your late/over the limit fees or you will be charged the next month $35.00 late and $35.00 over the limit. If the dispute is in your favor they will refund the fees bu need to pay them because a dispute can take 10 business days. I would steer clear of this credit card scammer.
I also have an applied credit card. They have charged me three times for a overlimit fee of $32.oo. When I called to dispute it I was told that the fees are valid and that I need to dispute them in writing. Plus customer service reps and supervisors are rude.
I'm being charged over $200.oo a month for a card that as yet I haven't even used. My Sears and Visa Cards don't even charge that much. And I HAVE used them.
where do u go for help? what IS the "next" step? this co. is a scammer and I could add my tale of woe..but I just want to know where do u go from here?
I also have an applied credit card. They have charged my card 3 times for the same over the limit fee. My card is not over the limit and they are still charging me 35.00 extra dollars.
DONT GET THIS CARD NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE FOR CREDIT.
Breach of contract!
APPLIED CARD BANK IS TRYING TO SCAM ME. READ THIS TO FIND OUT HOW CROOKED THEY REALLY ARE.
In June of 2007 my account with Applied Card Bank was referred to NCO Financial, a collection agency. NCO Financial, acting as the legal instrument of Applied Card Bank, negotiated a settlement agreement that was agreed upon by Applied Card Bank and myself. To be payed in 2 equal payments on specified dates.
On 6/22/07 I made the first of the payments by phone with the NCO Financial representative as agreed. I got my confirmation number and the payment was withdrawn from my bank account. The payment was reflected on the next statement that I received from Applied Card Bank.
On 7/6/07 I called and made the second and final payment with NCO Financial. I received my confirmation number and asked if the account was now paid in full. The representative said yes that the account had now been settled.
The following month I received a statement from Applied Card Bank. The second payment that I made with NCO was not reflected on the statement. Additional late charges, over the limit fees and interest were added to the remaining balance of the account.
So, I called Applied Card Bank. When I told them that the account had been settled with NCO Financial I was told that the account was under review. I found this very curious, so I called NCO Financial.
The representative that I had dealt with told me that Applied Card Bank had pulled all of their accounts from NCO on the day of my last payment and they were not able to debit my account for the final settlement payment. I was told by NCO that Applied Card Bank should honor the settlement agreement that we had made. So I called Applied Card Bank again. They again told me that the account was under review and not to worry about it.
So what happens next. I get a letter from another collection agency, Wolpoff & Abramson, stating that I still owe Applied Card Bank money. I immediately called Wolpoff & Abramson and explained the settlement agreement that was made with Applied Card Bank through NCO Financial. I was asked to fax the paperwork that I had with NCO to Wolpoff & Abramson, which I promptly did. This was done the first week of August 2007.
I have made repeated phone calls to Wolpoff & Abramson since then. On 10/05/07 I called them again, now feeling very frustrated. After I had explained the situation with the representative, he took my phone number and said he would call me back personally. He NEVER did!
On 10/12/07 I called Wolpoff & Abramson again. This time the representative said that Appilied Card Bank would not honor the original agreement that NCO Financial had made with me for Applied Card Bank. Instead, I could work out another settlement with them. At this point, they said I owed them more that I had originally owed in June 2007.
Honestly, I feel that Applied Card Bank is in breach of contract because they accepted my first payment on the settlement, which I made on time. Yet, they did not accept my second and final settlement payment, which I had made on time, as agreed. IF THIS ISN'T A SCAM, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.
I owe Applied Card Bank only what we had originally agreed upon. I am ready to take this to the next step legally but I am not sure where to begin. I just know that I am sick and tired of these big companies screwing people over. I am not going to take it anymore. I guess small claims court. I think I am in my legal rights to take this one to court.
Applied Card Bank is a ripoff artist and they should not be allowed to get away with this.
Hi, I just made my final and last payment, and I am worried they'll try to rake me over too. I would have had them paid in December but they charged me five fees that put me over the limit. I have yelled at them so many times, but if they try to say they didn't receive it I will be taking them to court. I already told them that. They actually had the balls to smart off that there was nothing I could do, to go ahead, nothing would happen to them. I was pissed. But, this time I am not playing with them. I wrote a note to tell them that once they have received my check and applied it to the account, I need a letter that says I no longer owe them money. I will call them daily like they did other people harassing them to make sure they send that. I will also be having a lawyer make a phone call if by the end of February I haven't gotten that statement letter. Any advice?
Jaclyn
I'm going through th same situation with these idiots Wolpoff & Abramson for some very old At&t wireless account. Me & my husband moved multiple times in 3 years & we NEVER got a letter from these scammers until 9-24-07 & they put a lien on our account on 9-26-07... WHAT ***HOLES. I went to civil court with my husband yesterday 10-15-07 & I'm going to fight this, they have NO right & Wolpoff should be shut down for good. They are NOT going to get away with this, people need to stand up & fight! I'll keep everyone updated on the situation but feel free to email me or reply to my story, thanks so much & wish me luck.
Poor service!
Good Luck getting ANYWHERE with this so called bank-they will be the first to lend you credit and the last to commit to any customer service. We have been with them for a few years and now my balance is down to zero-yet I am being billed for a 11.92 month maintenance fee? I totally agree if I HAD an outstanding balance-but I have NONE. I called the bank and spoke to someone who told me I HAD to pay it but I could dispute it through the FAX number [protected]. They refused to lower my interest rate of 29.99%-after paying them for a few years now... I am going to cancel the card. Well I just tried and their phone system is such a mess-it just keeps rerouting you to the computer link-giving you your balance and such-I tried to reach a human by reporting a lost or stolen card and I got kicked off the system and was told to call at another time! This is just another "bank" offering credit to slow/bad credit-the customer service is run out of someones bedroom. Choose another bank unless you are dying for credit.
I WAS LATE PAYING MY ACCOUNT WITH APPLIED BANK AND SOMEONE FROM THERE COLLECTION DEPARTMENT CALLED ME CONSTANTLY I TOLD THEM A CHECK WAS IN THE MAIL. AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW IF I WANTED TO PAY OVER THE PHONE I TOLD THEM NO, THEY AVE TO TO GET THERE CHECK THEY CALL ME EVERY DAY 4 AND 5 TIMES A DAY. I WAS CHECKING MY BANK TO SEE WHAT CHECKS HAVE CLEARED AND THERE CHECK HAD CLEARED. AND I SEEM ANOTHER DEDUCTION FROM APPLIED BANK THAT I DID NOT AUTHORIZED SO I CALL. THERE STORY IS THAT THEY HAVE TO INVESTIGATE. SO I TOLD THEM I WANTED MY MONEY BACK IN MY CHEKING ACCOUNT. I ALSO FOUND OUT THEY THE PEOPLE THAT CALL YOU FROM COLLECTIONS IS BASED IN INDIA. THATS RIGHT INDIA, AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO CALL YOU. AND THEY DEDUCTED WHAT THEY WANTED OUT OF MY ACCOUNT WITH OUT MY AUTHORIZATION. THATS FRAUD AND STEALING. SO I AM GOING TO WRITE THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, AND BBB, AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS .
You have a legitamate complaint about Applied Bank. Well the way to get total satisfaction is to file a complaint to the OCC.
This is the gov' t agenct that regulates the banks. Be patient communicate clearly. Go to their website and follow the procedure it works and the banks hate it.
http://www.occ.treas.gov/
i called and after a good 20-25 min. figured out how to manipulate their phone maze and spoke to some idiot. I was informed that 23.99% is the lowest a.p.r. they offer.. I wanted to close the acct. but they still charge u all those bogus high fees until the acct. is paid in full...and don't EVER get into their bad graces. They will charge u back into the stone age! Your really better off going to your local capo and negotiating a lower interest rate.
i use to work there on the collections floor the supervisors tell us not to waive fees and they charge a ridiculous phone payment fee
They were Cross Country Bank in 2001.
This bank is a SCAM - SIGN UP AT YOUR OWN PERIL!
Does anyone know who they were in 2001 they say I open an account with them but I dont know who they are never heard of them before. Did someone buy the company or has it always been this?
I mean Scammed
I am getting billed of over the limit fee of 32.50 when I don't go over the limit and pay my bill on time..but once they charge the 10.95 monthly maintence fee they slap the over the limit fee. When you try to call you get charge 1.50 for each call..and thats with a compter...that also gives you another number to speak with a Rep and then its either busy or you are on hold forever...I am going to pay full balance and then close my account...Don't get sammed like I did...I am sending my complaint to the Attorney General's Office too.
I am having trouble with this same company running credit inquiries on me constantly although I have not applied for credit with them and do not want credit from them. This is bringing my credit score down and I am in the process of trying to buy a home. They claim I have signed a contract for credit which is not at all true.
Predatory lending and rudeness
"Predatory Lending and Rudeness" now have a new name: APPLIED CARD BANK. Beware of this so called "Bank". This company will charge you fees on top of fees, thus forcing you to go over your credit limit. There is a monthly $10.95 for account maintenance, $6.95 for online payment, $32.00 for overlimit, $29.00 to $32.00 for late payment. To add insult to...

The same thing happened to me. I closed my account and asked for my deposit money back as it was a secured card. They said I had to do this and do that and something else. It as frustrating but I did everything they asked and have STILL not recieved MY money back. They blow me off and keep giving me more requirements. It has been over 1.5 yeas and I STILL don't have MY money. I have a meeting with an attorney this week about a class action lawsuit.
I just called them to get my refund back. They want information from I bank I no longer use, so they can send me my refund. Is there a way I can get my refund, without SO many hoops?
Oh yah!
I have the same exact problem that you have, they opened the account, never got my card and then started charging late fees and new card fees. I never got to use my card since i never got one anyway and terminated my account. I requested a refund of my money, I was lucky enough to receive a $21.00 over payment since I paid $108.00 practically for nothing and the only reason I can think of is they had my name on that account. Pretty damned expensive ha? They wanted a copy or proof of my secured deposit (which does not make sense since you cannot open the account without having one) just to get my deposit. Up until now, it has been 3 months since I've requested my refund.
They are located at 50 Applied Card Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342. They also stated that it would take up to 30 days to receive my $1000 refund. However, if I don't receive it back in 2 days, just like they drafted it out of my account, I will be camped out on their doorstep until they cut me a check and will take the news media with me.
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH ME AND APPLIED BANK. THEY TOOK $1000 FROM MY BANK IN A SPLIT OF A SECOND AND DISAPPEARED. THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM. I NEVER GOT THE CREDIT CARD. I NOW HAVE BANK TRYING TO COLLECT FUNDS BACK. THE SADNESS OF THE STORY IS TO SEE THE SEC, BIG THREE CREDIT SCORE COMPANIES AND FDIC ALLOW THESE LEGALIZED SCAMS TO FURTHER HURT AMERICANS THAT ARE STRUGGLING TO REPAIR THEIR CREDIT BY FURTHER STEALING FUNDS FROM THOSE IN NEED. WHATEVER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
COMPLAINT BOARD HOW IS THE APPLIED BANK RIPOFF TRAIN STOPPED FROM CONTINUING TO HURT CREDITORS IN NEED OF A CARD
