TrueCredit refusal to cancel my account

I was a customer of Truecredit.com from 2008 to 2011. After I purchased a new condo, I no longer needed the service. I called on 12/15/11 to cancel, yet they continued to bill me in both January and February 2012. I called again to cancel, and they said I could not, because I had accessed the webite earlier that day (yes, I did... to find out if I could cancel online... you can't). Called back severals days later to find out if the 2nd cancelation had been done, and it was not. Very SAD that the biggest FRAUD I've experienced is with the one agency whose mission it is to protect me from such things. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SERVICE... YOU CAN GET FREE REPORTS EVERY QUARTER... why pay for it, and get stuck with this hassel.

After checking my credit report on 12/04/2009, with Transunion, they required a ONE time charge with my credit card in the amount of $7.95. Just noticed today that on my online credit card statement that I was charges $14.94 monthly since 12/04/2009!! I called on 11/1/2011 the so called Transunion to dispute the charges and they kept legitimizing why my...

TrueCredit Their name TRUE CREDIT, is a joke

They are a scam! They market your credit scores as if the numbers are coming directly from the three credit reporting bureaus, when in fact the numbers are some fictious numbers TRUE CREDIT has in fact come up with. The credit scores they provide are of no value to you as a consumer. Not only should you avoid them like the plaque, if you are utilizing them, cancel now and ask for a refund of dime you ever paid. Their name TRUE CREDIT, is a joke.

The age of TrueCredit's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

Truecredit.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • Truecredit.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The truecredit.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
  • We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to TrueCredit. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. TrueCredit scam and misleading

What a scam! I paid for the three credit score and report for myself and my husband when we started the process of applying for a mortgage for a new home. I was very happy to see that my score was 756, 767 and 803. I thought we were home free. When I called Wells Fargo to get a preapproval and they checked my credit my scores were over 100 points lower. I couldn't believe it. I called true credit by transunion and was told they use a different scoring system and the scores that banks and lenders use are different. No kidding they're different. I cancelled the service and was told that I could not have a refund since I already used their service. Gee, great I get charged for using a useless service and then when I am utterly dissatisfied am refused a refund. The woman said she would transfer me to another department which she did. That office was closed and gave me no other options! This is a completely useless service for people who actually want to know what scores the banks and other credit issuers are looking at to determine credit worthiness. Stay away. Shame on transunion.

TrueCredit Inaccurate information

I have been a paid member of truecredit.com for over a year while I was repairing my credit.

As of the last information on the site, my credit scores for all three agencies were in the mid-600s.

I was working with a mortgage broker to obtain a very small mortgage (under 50K) because home prices are so cheap in my area.

She called me and said that the credit reports she was getting from all three agencies were MUCH LOWER than the TrueCredit scores. I called True Credit and asked them why there was such a variance. They could not explain why.

I have been paying them $15 a month for NOTHING. All the progress I thought I had made was meaningless. I am devastated.

I am reporting them to the FTC and the Better Business Bureau for fraudulent activities.

TrueCredit overcharged

i was informed i could get my free score but was charged a month later on my debit card, i called and the indian man convinced me to upgrade to 3 reports for only 9.99 as opposed to 14.95 for just trans., stated he could credit me back 14.95 and charge just 9.99 and go with this special offer! well looking at my bank statement i was charged 14.95 twice and credit only once with an additional 9.99 charge 2 days later, my free credit report cost me 24.98 and about an hour on the phone. i had the service less than a month. Trying to cancel is a joke and they refuse to cancel your account. i was hung up on by 3 ppl who couldnt explain to me what had happened. i hope this gets cancelled but STAY AWAY FROM TRUECREDIT BY TRANSUNION, i will be contacted my local news station to help spread the word across oklahoma city/tulsa area

TrueCredit canceled and they charge me

I had true credit service for many years, I wanted to cancel, I had authorization with my debet card, I cancelled all my services with them, and closed the account, the charge was returned to them as I closed the account attached to the debit card, in the amount of $5.95 which they sent to check systems, and they charged me a $25.00 fee.

TrueCredit Can not stop subscription

I have had this service for 5 months now and decided to stop it. There is no where on the website that allows you to do this. There is also no where on the website that provided a phone number for customer service reps.

Having to contact my credit card to contest the charge and I'll let them deal with it!

Did you know that Creditreport.com, freecreditreport.com, truecredit.com, experian.com are ALL THE SAME? I called today b/c I was getting billed for three services and wanted to cancel. Credit report informed me that I had two accts that were active and I was being billed for them. After cancelling both, I called Experian and she said I had two accts that were already set for cancellation. So I said "you two are connected then right?" Her smart *&# response was "AHH, you've caught on". BEWARE!

You can call them at [protected] and cancel. I just did this morning. I got a little worried at first, because when I pressed "2" to cancel, I got disconnected. But when I called back a second time, it worked, and I got a rep. He wasn't too pushy and I was able to cancel in a couple minutes.

TrueCredit Fake commercials insulting my intelligence

All of the TrueCredit.com ads are fake. 'Chuck Storm' walking into a post, someone catching a football and running into cables, the ridiculously fake guy stapling up christmas lights and the alleged trip and fall at a wedding.

In all four four of these examples, the camera work gives away that they are fake. Not to mention that the staplegun guy helps in the wrong place, which NOT stapling his finger which moves afterwards anyhow.

It's all pathetic and utterly irritating. It's compounded by the fact they always show two back to back...double more annoying.

Get this crap off TV.

TrueCredit SCAM and FRAUD upon cancellation!

I have used www.truecredit.com for a long time. I called to cancel my account as did my husband and my daughter. Everything was fine and under the "assumption" that it was canceled. However, they did not charge me for one month and then began billing again.

I was very firm in that I needed to cancel my account. I was given the information about how keeping the account could "better my future" and how not having it "could affect employment or living situations." I told them to cancel. Upon telling me it was canceled, the guy told me that "AS A CURTOSY I WOULD BE GIVEN ONE MONTH WITHOUT CHARGE. This is where the scam starts. At this point they lied! I was never told that I will be given one month free and then they will bill again. Not one time did they tell me that they would do this! In fact, I was told the opposite! I was told there would be no more billings.

The second part is the way they bill. You cannot do a stop payment if you use your debit card to pay your monthly charge because they run the transaction as "POS, " (Point of Sale) the same as if you went to Wal Mart and used your card. I have no doubt they do this with your credit card also. This, to me, sounds as if they have been through this before so they don't run it through as normal companies do when you have a recurring charge. Think about it, for every 10 people this is another $150.00, now multiply that by a100 and then 1000. It adds up as one more months charge for every person who is trying to save money.

Now, I realize that this one little letter will not do very much good. My warning is to MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR CANCELATION NUMBER, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ACCEPT ONE MONTH FREE, MAKE SURE YOU SAY "I ONLY WANT TO CANCEL!" They did cancel my husband's account completely, but not my daughter's or mine. He ended up yelling at the little guy he spoke with, we did not. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Simply put, this is a scam! I would love to find enough people this has happened to and be able to compile a list with the Attorney General from each state so that he can stop this practice. People are having a hard enough time in this economy without having their money stolen. I know I’m not the only one. When they withhold the information that you will be billed after the free month, this becomes a scam. They got my $14.95; do not let anyone have yours.

You can contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com

Truecredit.com has all the markings of a scam. A buried and completely non-functional phone number. No email address. No mailing address. No support. I should have known better, as I advise clients on internet best practices for merchants. Now I can't cancel my account and their phone number just rings and rings.

I was so aggravated I thought about joining one of these class action lawsuit efforts, but buried deep within TransUnion's Service Agreement is a Class-Action Waiver. It reads:

YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT NO CLAIM, DISPUTE OR CONTROVERSY MAY BE CONSOLIDATED WITH A DISPUTE OF ANY OTHER PERSON IN ARBITRATION, OR RESOLVED ON A CLASS-WIDE BASIS BY A CLASS ACTION OR OTHER PROCEEDING AND YOU HEREBY WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO COMMENCE OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY SUCH COLLECTIVE OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

I never want to deal with a credit reporting bureau again. The most fraudulent activity I have ever encountered in my time using eCommerce and the internet is with TransUnion and the credit reporting bureaus themselves. I can only hope that the Attorney General of California or a governing body overseeing Transunion has the authority and willingness to sue Transunion and their "subsidiary" Truecredit.com for the millions of dollars they extort from their "valued customers."

You are now chatting with Mandy.
Mandy: Hello! Welcome to TrueCredit. My name is Mandy. How can I help you today?

Mandy: I'm sorry to know this.
You: I am calling right now and no one is picking up the phone.
Mandy: We are experiencing some technical issue with the telephone line of our Customer Service and the issue still persists due to which you are unable to speak to our Customer Service Representatives to get your service cancelled.
Mandy: Not to worry. The issue will get fixed within an hour.
Mandy: Could you please try calling our Customer Service department for me after an hour so that you can get this fixed?
You: That is what you said an hour ago. Come to find out this so called "technical issue" you keep telling me about has been going on since July of this year.
You: I want someone to call me...
You: I am tired of trying to get ahold of you people
You: I have tried 2 solid weeks to get ahold of someone to cancel my service
You: and can get ahold of no one.

Mandy: I apologize. We are experiencing this issue only from the morning and I'm sure you will be able to reach them after an hour.
You: My phone number is*****.

Mandy: I'm suggesting you to make a call because as I'm from the Chat Service, I do not have the access to call you back or to your account information.
You: I cant give you my phone number...
You: your chat interface wont allow it
Mandy: Due to security reasons, a series of numbers will not be displayed in our chat window.
You: You are suggesting something I have already tried for 2 weeks, and this has been a reported issue since July.
You: Suggest something else. This suggestion you continue to make is insane..
Mandy: Could you please try once for me after an hour and get back to us if you are still not able to reach them>
You: Why continue to try to call a number that no one picks up the phone at.
You: That is one of the most useless things someone can do.
Mandy: Also, I would suggest you to try calling this number through some other number.
You: I will try again at 11:37. If I cannot cancel my service at that time. Someone via live chat will have to cancel it.
You: That is more than fair..
You: 11:37 Eastern Standard Time.

You: This issue has been ongoing since July of this year come to find out.
You: That is 4 months.
Mohan: I apologize for the difficulty caused to you due to this issue.

Mohan: As we are from the Chat Service, we have been provided access only to navigate through our website and to help you with the information about the services offered through our website.
You: What is amazing is that you all know this issue persists, and yet continue to suggest it as an alternative to cancel your account.
Mohan: To get your service cancelled, our Customer Service department is the only place which you will need to call to get your service cancelled.
You: There is no way to cancel service that way, as no one is picking up the phone to cancel service.
You: You will have to provide another means because that one is not working...has not been working since at least that we know of July of this year..
Mohan: I understand your situation.
Mohan: Please give me a moment./
Mohan: Thanks for your patience.

Signed up 6 days ago for 7 day trial, only to discover hundreds of complaints online about this service. After reading I promptly tried to cancel today and must say the process was difficult.

First of all, for being affiliated with "TransUnion" I am shocked at practices being enacted on the TrueCredit website:

1) There is no account cancellation link ANYWHERE in the website (when you're logged in.
2) There is no account cancellation info on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page
3) The "Contact Us" link is buried under several pages, and finding it took some time. Websites & companies with GOOD PRACTICES will put a "Contact" link/button in a main navigation bar and/or at the bottom of every web page. NOT TrueCredit.com. They purposely hide the Contact link under several pages making people work to try to find a contact phone #.
4) I called the phone # to cancel, and admit I felt uncomfortable giving a lady that I could barely understand my full social security number. I grew very frustrated as I could not understand what the heck she was saying mostly. But she did say that my account was cancelled "immediately", but it was not. I called back an hour later and spoke to another rep (also foreign, but could understand him a little better). He apologized and said he would "file a complaint" on my behalf (yeah right) and cancelled my account. I asked him why I didn't receive a confirmation email and he said "it would take 24-48 hours to receive notification that the account was cancelled today. 1-2 days? So then my 7 day trial will be up and my card will probably be charged still. Wonderful.

5) Your credit card information STAYS on the website, even after “cancelling” your account. Customer service rep said that there is “no way" to delete my information, but assured me that my account was still "cancelled".

Fortunately I read a tip somewhere that someone updated their credit card info with a cancelled debit card they still had. Fortunately, I had a cancelled credit card on hand and quickly updated my TrueCredit account with the old CC info. So if they DO try to charge me, it won't go through.

What a friggin pain. And they're associated with TransUnion? TRUE CREDIT IS AWEFUL!

I called on 6-26 to inquire why I was charged $14.95 within 2 weeks. When the representative informed me they only showed one charge on their side ( my bank statement clearly shows 2) and that I would have to get a certified letter from the bank showing that I had indeed got charged twice in order to receive a refund. After going in circles with her, I decided just to cancel my membership. The lady did so without hesitation and I thought it was settled. WELL, tonight I see they have taken $14.95 from my bank account again! When I called, the rep said that he could see I wanted my account cancelled, but the rep did not initiate it. And in order to receive a refund I have to talk with my bank. WTH?! This place needs to be sued, they are SCAMMERS!

I just signed up for the free report 2 days ago and immediately tried to cancel the service to avoid the $14.95 monthly fee. Well, the numbers I have are bogus. Both [protected] and [protected] are never answered. I've called over 30 times and after 2 minutes, each call is disconnected. I've already filed a complaint with the BBB and have sent multiple emails. What a waste of my time.

If you have another number to reach them, please post it here. In the meantime, I swear Transunion / Truecredit is a complete SCAM. Don't trust them for anything.

True Credit billed my checking account after I had canceled their service and closed my account. Their response four months later was to prevent my checks from clearing at merchant accounts through Telecheck. All for $9.95 without any advance warning whatsoever. I paid the $9.95 by electronic check to get them to go away. They gave me a toll free number to call to "cancel" my account again ... the number is a dating site. What a great group of scam artists!

TrueCredit Scam charges

Truecredit.com (by Transunion) offers a monthly monitoring service ($14.95)to protect your credit. I subscribed and then tried to stop the monthly service. It took me several tries to end the service and the monthly fees continued; how to cancel is not on any of their websites and a phone number is very very difficult to find. When I finally did contact a service rep, I was told the way to cancel was to go to my credit card information and enter all zeroes! I still cannot find a phone number (domestic USA) to call & lodge my complaint. Their service reps are out of country.

It is clearly a deliberate action on their behalf so that once you start the service it is extremely difficult to end it. You would think that a credit reporting agency (Transunion) would be more forthright and not have to resort to such underhanded tactics to its customers.

TrueCredit Fraud and scam!

I am trying to refi. So I thought the $15.95/month deal from truecredit.com (aka transunion) would be great, it allows me nearly unlimited access to my credit reports from all three agencies and my scores from all three agencies. But the scores are not real FICO scores. They are some normalized estimate based on an unknown secret recipe of truecredit. FICO scores are also secret recipes but each of the 3 reporting agencies has a repeatable way of calculating its FICO product, for instance Equifax can provide a BEACON 5 FICO score, Experian can provide a Fair Isaac V2, and TransUnion can provide a FICO Classic 2004.

Which of these scores do you get when you order your 'credit score' from truecredit.com? None of them. So the scores that you bought from TransUnion (truecredit) do not even reflect the same scores that TransUnion will report to possible lenders.

To illustrate my experience, on the exact same day, a lender queried TransUnion for my 3 scores, and there was a 28 point difference between the lowest score that truecredit reported to me and the lowest score that TransUnion reported to the querying lender. Additionally, none of the three scores matched. 28 points is a huge difference in the credit score market.

They do have a disclaimer: 'the credit score provided here is not a so-called FICO score. The credit scores of TransUnion may not be identical in every respect to any consumer credit scores produced by any other company.' But then what is 'the credit score' that they provide? It is a guess and not too accurate at that, and even the TransUnion score was not identical to the TransUnion score reported to the possible lender (on the same exact day). So truecredit is misleading and possibly downright lying to their customers with these numbers.

I made a major life decision to relocate to a new job based on my cedit score from Zendough, only to findout that I can't get a loan due to the huge discrepany in my credit scores. As much as 140 point difference has me unable to buy a home and in jepardy of not even being able to rent an apartment. While I had some financial trouble in the past, I have paid my debt, but now my REAL scores are too low because I don't owe any money and haven't used my credit for to long. Pretty stupid that I can't borrow money because I don't owe enough. I will be cancelling my membership immediately.

I have had nothing but problems with Truecredit. I think they are misleading to say the least... scamming is more accurate. The report was unnecessarily confusing and had in a flurry of worry all morning (unnecessarily).
There customer service reps are very "foreign" and difficult to understand (they must be saving a buck or 2 there!)
AND - They did not cancel my trial membership when they assured me that they had!

I wish that these reviews about them were easier to find - so others do not make the same mistake. I am going to post a complain on Epinions too and I encourage others to do the same.

What people need to understand is that TransUnion does not use the FICO scale (which goes up to 850) they use something called the "Vantage Scale" which goes to 990 so it's a very misleading and deceptive tactic and makes your "score" look inflated. The only place to get your true FICO credit scroe is from myfico.com

Resently applied for refi, and lenders scores were lower than truecredit scores, on the same day! Was told by several lenders that truecredit scores are "consumer" scores, and do not accurately reflect your real scores. So basicly we (my wife and I) have been pissing away $30 a month for about (4) years, to recieve bogus info. We were still able to refi, but I am not at all happy about this scam that truecredit is running, and I intend to report them to the BBB, Texas AG office, and local consumer reporters.

BEWARE -- SCAM ARTIST --- 1/5/2011 9:30 a.m. -- I signed onto True Credit.com. Login went well until I got to a blurred screen fronted with a window asking me to "Click Here To Sign Up" for who knows what and no prices visible. I called the 800 number and spoke with "Noel" (with a a lovely accent) to ask him how to by-pass this screen without signing up for anything because all I wanted was a free credit report. - He put me on hold three times and I began to get suspicious. When I asked him where I was calling, he told me he is not "allowed to discuss that information". I asked if I was calling inside the United States and got the same answer. I then asked him if I was calling OUTside the United States and he said yes, but couldn't way where I was calling. NICE, huh?
I then asked to speak with a supervisor. I asked him the same question and received the same answer, but this one would not even tell me if I was calling outside the United States.

The first words out of both their mouths were "Thank you for calling True Credit. What is your social security number?" Thank God I didn't give it to them! So ... think about it, they are outside the United States, speaking with an accent, they have access to the website where the social secuity numbers of each contact is accessible to them, and when you call to question anything, the first thing they ask you for is your social security number and won't divulge ANY information about the company they work for. BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE !

Same here as "Stay Alway". Just went to go get a car, TrueCredit showed my scores as being 711, 713, and 735. Car dealer showed scores lower (in one case 100 points lower) than True Credit. "True" Credit. Been a customer of theirs for over 5 years, never did much with my credit just wanted to watch out for fraud. Now the only fraud I have seen, is by True Credit themselves. Canceling this service, and investigating into seeing if what they are doing is legal.
