Backstage.com is a platform that offers a range of opportunities for actors, models, and creative freelancers. While some users appreciate the variety of castings and the ease of navigation, others have raised concerns about the quality of opportunities and customer service. It seems that the platform has a mix of positive and negative feedback, with some users highlighting issues such as billing discrepancies, spam emails, and low-paying gigs. If you're considering using Backstage.com, it may be worth exploring further to see if it aligns with your career goals and expectations.

Backstage Backstage is the Best!

Backstage is the best! Their postings are so helpful and it is so easy to submit through their website. I have gotten many jobs through Backstage and am so grateful for the wonderful service you provide for actors and everyone in the entertainment industry. I also just had the pleasure of asking for help with something on your website and their support staff was so awesome and answered my question quickly and much more thoroughly than I expected. Thanks so much Backstage and keep doing what you're doing :)! !

Backstage An Actors Resource

Have renewed my subscription 02/2022 after having cancelled it at the beginning of the pandemic. As a SAG-AFTRA member I am given a discount and the staff of Backstage assisted me via their Chat option in order to apply it. They were knowledgeable, professional, efficient and pleasant to deal with. I feel these attributes are a VERY important aspect of any company I do business with. The product they offer happens to be invaluable to me as well: casting calls, production information, education, and general news of The Biz. Thank you, Clara, David L. And Backstage for continuing to provide actors a great product and great people to deal with.

Backstage By far the best resource for actors

I'm a member of every popular actors' website, but Backstage is by far my favorite. It's the easiest to navigate, and has the best resources for finding casting directors, agents, managers, and auditions. No other website I use has huge searchable lists of casting directors and agents with their contact information and current projects! Also the price is very reasonable, and it doesn't charge you every time to update your reel or photos (looking at you, Actors Access and LAcasting). Also when I have any questions the staff gets back to me super quickly and efficiently. I loved that the submission emails could be very specific searches too, so I would only get emails for parts I would actually submit to. Actors Access and LAcasting were sending me constant emails for unpaid music video background parts. Backstage is far superior and I always recommend it to my actor friends.

Backstage Backstage.com Account Deletion Frustration: My Experience

So, I gotta say, I signed up for Backstage (backstage.com) and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. It's been about a week now and I've been trying to delete my account, but they just won't let me. I've tried everything, but no matter what I do, my account is still there. I even contacted their customer service, but they were no help at all. They just told me to set my account to private and delete my personal information. But here's the thing, you can't delete all of your pictures without uploading something else, and you have to have a profile picture.

After a lot of back and forth with their customer service, which only happened after I left a bad review of their services, some guy named Danny told me that my account had been deleted. But I didn't believe him, so I tried to log in and guess what? I was able to. I sent him an email back and asked if he had just set my account to private or if he had actually deleted it. His next email said that all I had to do was refresh the page and my account would be deleted and removed from Google searches. So I waited a day and logged in again, and everything was exactly the same except my account was set to private.

I emailed him a screenshot and told him that he was lying and that my account was still active. But I still haven't heard back from him and my account is still there. It's really frustrating because I just want to delete my account and move on, but they won't let me. I'm not sure what to do at this point, but I hope they can figure it out soon.

Backstage Disappointing Experience with Backstage Casting Site: False Promises and Poor Communication

I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with Backstage. I mean, I thought Starnow was bad, but these guys take the cake!

So, I reached out to them to ask if I could post on their site even though I'm new to the industry and don't have any previous work samples or a website. They told me it was all good and even gave me a link with more info on what to post and what not to post.

Feeling confident, I posted my job and waited to start recruiting. But then, just a few hours later, one of their bigwigs from headquarters told me they couldn't run my listing because I didn't have any previous work samples or a website. What the heck?!

I was so disappointed and frustrated that I responded to let them know how I felt. I mean, if they had told me the truth from the beginning, I wouldn't have even bothered wasting my time with them.

But instead of trying to make things right, they just kicked me off their site like a bunch of crybabies. It really makes you wonder what else they're lying about!

I had always heard stories about how these casting sites are supposed to be so grand and glamorous, but now I know the truth. Backstage is definitely not living up to their name, that's for sure.

Backstage Backstage Review: Frustrating Technical Issues and Poor Customer Service

I've been using Backstage for 8 years now, and I gotta say, it's been a pretty good ride. But recently, I've been having some issues with the site that have left me feeling pretty frustrated.

I was trying to submit to a job like I normally do, but for some reason, the system wouldn't let me through. It kept telling me that I needed to subscribe, even though my subscription doesn't end until 2022. I knew something was up because they usually let you know when you're about to expire, but I couldn't figure out what the problem was.

So, I created a new subscription, and to my surprise, it told me that it was a new account. But once I logged out and logged back in, it let me into my original account. I had been trying to do that for a while, so I was pretty relieved.

But here's the thing - now I have two subscriptions, and one of them is completely useless. I've emailed Backstage at least 6 times to tell them that I need my money back on my card, especially since I have an active subscription. But they haven't responded to any of my emails, and I've even left messages for them to contact me. It's like they don't care about their customers at all.

I've been on this site for 8 years, and if this is how they treat people, then I don't think I want to be a part of it anymore. This will definitely be my last year using Backstage. In fact, I'm planning on reporting them to every agency I can think of, including the BBB. It's just not worth the hassle anymore.

Backstage Backstage Review: Great for Actors, but Beware of Billing Tactics

Backstage is a great platform for actors who are not represented by an agency. It's a place where you can find student films and microbudget indie projects to build up your resume. I have been using Backstage for over two years now and have been quite satisfied with the service they provide. However, things took a turn for the worse when the pandemic hit.

I contacted Backstage to explain that I could no longer afford the service. Ben, one of their representatives, offered me two months of free service and a change in billing date. I thought this meant that they would let me keep the service for two months without charging me, but I was wrong. They still charged me, but moved my billing date to two months later. This was of no help to me, so I disputed the charge with my bank. The bank reversed the charge, and I cancelled the card.

I offered to pay Backstage directly via debit, but Richard, another representative, told me that I would not be given access to my account unless I dropped the dispute. Since the card was cancelled, it was a moot point. I tried contacting Richard several times to pay my bill, but I never heard back from him.

The lesson I learned from this experience is to keep a close eye on your bank account if you use Backstage. They will charge you without letting you know, and they will use various tactics to make the transaction indisputable. They talk a good game, but they don't always tell the truth. So, be careful with your money because they like to stick their hands in the cookie jar.

Backstage Backstage Review: Difficult to Cancel Subscription and Continues to Charge Your Card

I been using Backstage for a month now. At first, I was pretty excited to use it because I heard it was a great platform for actors and performers to find gigs and opportunities. However, after a few weeks of being a paid member, I decided to cancel my subscription. I was surprised to find out that there was no easy way to cancel my membership. I had to contact them directly, which was a bit of a hassle. I mean, who has time for that?

I sent them an email requesting to cancel my membership, but I never received a response. They continued to charge my card for the next couple of months, even though I had requested to cancel. When I noticed the charges on my bank statement, I was pretty upset. I immediately locked my card so they couldn't charge me anymore. I then sent another email requesting to cancel my membership and get a refund for the money they took.

I'm still waiting for a response from them. I hope they honor my request and refund the money they took. But in the meantime, I would advise against paying for a membership on Backstage. They make it nearly impossible to cancel your subscription, and they continue to take your money even after you request to cancel. It's not fair, and it's not right.

They should make it easier for people to cancel their subscriptions. It's not rocket science. They could add a simple button on the profiles to cancel your subscription. But no, they want to make it difficult and still take your money. It's like they're stealing from you.

Another thing that bothers me is that they don't allow you to delete your card details on their website. So there's absolutely no way to prevent them from stealing your money. It's not right, and it's not fair.

In conclusion, I would advise against using Backstage. They make it difficult to cancel your subscription, and they continue to take your money even after you request to cancel. It's not fair, and it's not right.

Backstage Backstage charged me for a membership I cancelled, refused refund, and provided no receipt

So, on June 12, I got charged by Backstage for their annual membership. But, I turned off the auto-renewal in March when I visited their website. I was surprised to see that my auto-renewal was still on when I checked my account after being billed. I never received any email receipt for this transaction.

I contacted their customer service on June 30, just 18 days after the payment. They told me that I was past their "10 day" grace period and that they couldn't issue a refund. I was willing to settle for a pro-rated 11 month refund, but they still said no. I haven't used their site in over a year, so this was very frustrating.

It's sketchy that I tried to turn off the auto-renewal, but it was still on. And why didn't they send me a receipt after the payment was made? If I had received a receipt, I would have cancelled right away and fallen within the "10 day grace period." Instead, I happened to look at my statements and saw this just 8 days after the grace period.

This is not how a business should operate, especially during a global pandemic when so many of us are struggling financially due to job losses. When they say "it's not possible to issue a refund," it's a lie. They just don't want to. They could easily issue a refund or partial refund with just a few clicks.

Beware of Backstage. I didn't get any jobs from their service, and their business model seems to be set up to auto-withdraw funds and have people forget about their membership. I've never experienced such poor customer service before.

Backstage Unleashing the Power of Creativity: A Review of 'The War of Art' by Steven Pressfield

I am a full time actor and performer with approx. 19 years of experience. Signing up for Backstage last year was one of my first times trying a "paid" site. After a full year of applying for jobs via Backstage, I can honestly say I did not get booked for a single one. A few weeks ago I was checking my monthly credit card statement and noticed a charge from Backstage for $150! I was very surprised and called and emailed them immediately. I did not know I was automatically set up for auto renew. Ok, I get it... a lot of companies do this sort of thing. I don't agree with it, but it is what it is... They told me I had 10 days to cancel and that the 10 days was up. They NEVER sent a single email, txt, mail, etc. receipt after charging my card so there was no way (until getting my cc statement) that I could have possibly known. I kindly explained that multiple times and gave them every single opportunity to do the right thing. The customer service manager, Richard Burridge, was dismissive and said I had logged into the account after the renewal. Of course I did! First off, I was looking for their contact info to cancel, and secondly, I thought it was still my first year and did not know they had charged me $150. I kindly explained that I did not get any value the first year, so I would never have renewed, and that if they would have sent me any kind of receipt at all I could have easily called within the "10 day" period. Again, I was extremely kind in my communication to Richard and gave him every opportunity to make things right. I'm sure I'm not the first or last person this will happen to, but if my honest review can help a single actor friend, I hope it does! Beware of these dishonest business practices!

Backstage Unprofessional and Unfair: My Experience with Backstage Customer Service

I've been a member of Backstage for quite some time now, but recently I had a bit of a run-in with their customer service. I received an email from someone at Backstage saying that my account had been terminated because I hadn't followed their rules. Specifically, they said that I hadn't included my YouTube channel URL in my messages, and that this was a violation of their terms of service. However, I never received any notice about this before my account was deleted.

When I tried to get more information about why my account had been terminated, I got a lot of conflicting answers. One person told me that it was because I hadn't paid for my account, even though I had joined when it was free and had never been asked to start paying. Another person said that it was because my casting call had been up for too long. And yet another person said that it was because other users had reported me for spam.

The thing is, I don't think any of these reasons are valid. I never received any notice about any of these issues, and I don't think I did anything wrong. And even if I did, I think Backstage should have given me a warning before deleting my account.

The worst part of this whole experience, though, was the way that Backstage handled it. They were very unprofessional and didn't seem to care about my concerns. They didn't ask for confirmation that I had received their emails, and they didn't give me any warning before deleting my account. It was a really frustrating experience, and I wouldn't recommend Backstage to anyone based on my experience.

Backstage Backstage Review: Legit or Scam? My Experience with Their Membership Program

When it comes to signing up for a membership, many people don't bother to read the terms and conditions. But I wanted to make sure that Backstage, a popular entertainment industry website, was legit before I signed up. So I did some digging and found out that they offer a free trial, as well as monthly, semi-annual, and annual subscriptions. All of these subscriptions are set to renew automatically, which means you'll be charged the same amount each time until you cancel by phone or email (although I recommend calling).

Unfortunately, none of the subscriptions are eligible for a refund except for the annual subscription, which can be disputed within 5 days of the renewal date for a full refund. After that, you can still dispute it, but you'll only be eligible for a partial refund, and you have to do it within 30 days.

Legally speaking, Backstage seems to be on the up and up. But I have some issues with their business practices. They lure people in with the promise of fame and fortune, but then don't deliver on those promises. And when you complain, they just throw their contract in your face. It's pretty gross, and I don't like supporting companies that treat their customers that way.

That being said, there is a way to get a refund even if they say they can't give you one. If you dispute the charge with your bank and get the funds back that way, it puts a negative mark on Backstage's merchant account. If they get too many of these chargebacks, they could even be shut down. So if you threaten to go through your bank, they might be more willing to issue a refund to avoid that hassle.

Overall, I would say that Backstage is a legitimate company, but their business practices leave something to be desired. If you're thinking about signing up for a membership, just be aware of the terms and conditions and don't expect too much from them. And if you do have a problem, don't be afraid to stand up for yourself and demand a refund if necessary.

Backstage Backstage Review: Pros and Cons of the Acting Platform for Up-and-Coming Actors

I've been using Backstage for almost three years now and it has been a great help in getting me gigs. I want to give an honest review of my experience with this platform.

Firstly, the pros. Backstage is a reputable website with a lot of legitimate acting opportunities. It's especially great for non-union actors. I haven't had any issues with customer support or renewals, and the database is very wide, catering to anyone in the industry. Backstage also offers SAG-approved films and shorts that can help you get accredited status to join the union.

However, there are also cons to using Backstage. There are a lot of unpaid or school film type of jobs available, and there aren't many A-list or major motion picture opportunities. In my three years of using the platform, I've only seen one such opportunity. Backstage may advertise that you have a chance to apply for big gigs like The Walking Dead or Fast and Furious, but the truth is that these types of gigs won't appear on the website. These gigs require agents and SAG union, which is the biggest downfall of Backstage.

To become a SAG member, you need SAG-approved film experience, which Backstage does offer. However, SAG films require agents, and agents won't touch you unless you have SAG experience. It's like a dog chasing its own tail. The only way to get in the door is to know someone who knows someone. There are also a lot of infomercial-type "teach you to act" courses on Backstage that aren't accredited. A high majority of production companies and directors won't take you seriously without actual acting classes from an accredited institution.

If you're an up-and-coming actor who needs IMDb credits or you're a beginner at acting, Backstage is the perfect place to learn the craft. It has given me the tools and gigs to perfect my acting, find my comfort zones, and find my limits. I can confidently say that I am a professional actor now.

However, if you're thinking that you'll land a huge gig with a major Hollywood studio through Backstage, you need to be prepared to work hard and have a microscopic chance. Without SAG union, a reputable agent or company, and a professionally done film short or audition tape, you'll be chasing extra gigs on major sets (which don't have SAG approval for extras, by the way) and doing film festival shorts.

Backstage Reviewed terms and conditions

Most people when wanting a membership (any where), will not review the terms and conditions. I wanted to check the legitimacy of the site via forum as well as its source (terms and conditions). It states that there is a free trial (not a paid subscription until expiry/renewal) a monthly, a semi annually (6 month) and an annually (12 month sumbscription) which obviously are the paid subscriptions. All paid subscriptions are set to recurring, which means you will be billed the amount of the subscriptions including other additional membership fees, at the time and rate of the membership until cancellation by phone or email ( I recommend a phone call). None of the subscriptions are eligible for a refund except the annual subscriptions which has to be disputed with 5 days after the renewal date. The 5 day period is the eligibility for a full refund. Any dispute after is assumed a partial refund, but it cannot be past a 30 day period to receive a refund. With all that being said this is a legitimate company as far as legal terms are concerned, however I do not like the way they operate. There business practice derives from placing a false dream for entertainment purposes and recruite serious candidates just to provide them with less than they been promised, and then throw their contract in your face when you are unhappy with the results. To me it's disgusting and I don't support companies that can't even have decent customer service. In conclusion a little tip for everyone ( a lot of companies like this not all) will tell you that they cannot issue you a refund but they are a company, who if they get too many charge backs, (meaning when a dispute through your bank and receive the funds back through said bank) the monies are taken back from the business or merchant. This places a negative mark on their merchant account. If they get to many they can be shut down completely and have to start a new one with a different name and that's a lot of hassle and money and paper work. So you can simply state that you'll go through your bank, subsequently forcing them to is sue a refund to prevent a charge back.

Backstage Madelen Soto She was a no call no show which caused us a financial injury

Madelen Soto was interviewed and hired for a video shoot that took place on September 15th from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. She was a no call no show which caused us a financial injury of several thousand dollars due to her not showing up to perform the role of the main character. She agreed to the position three (3) days in advance was provided directions and signed a copywrite waiver. At this time she was given Taz's phone numbers in the event she needed to call
Fast-forward to D-day. It has been thirty-five minutes, and our main model Madelen Soto has yet to arrive. Frustrated, I emailed her backstage because she never provided a direct contract number. Only to learn the model will not show up. We got ghosted.
After the first hour passed, we attempted to reach out to other models that we had considered for the role but to no avail. Exasperated, we let our creative team pack their bags and go home. Then we find ourselves contemplating the money and time we have drained down the table because one model, Madelen Soto that we trusted, did not respect their commitment.
No-shows are one of the worst things that can happen at a shoot. It was both financially and emotionally jarring for us to realize that we would not be able to complete the video project as planned because Madelen Soto was a no-call, no-show. Perhaps she does not realize her impact on the people who organized - and did attend - the shoot. Because Madelen Soto did not show up, it jeopardized the entire project. Indeed, creatives on set are co-dependent: a shoot cannot happen without team spirit, and no-shows can kill team dynamics.
Although models are usually trained to know they should always attend the jobs they sign up for if they care about their career and reputation, no-shows are still haunting the industry. I surmise that Backstage can reduce the probability of models nothing showing up, by having it indicated in their profiles or removing and banning them from their website. Backstage should consider a plan of action should it happen with listed models. We conclude that Madelen Soto
Lacks practical communication skills, which led to ruining our project
Has the inability to complete their assigned projects on time
Does not exhibit the skills required to be a Freelance Model due to her unprofessionalism and apathetic lack of communication
Has difficulty showing up on time
Has the inability to work collaboratively / not being a team player

We first confirmed the model was not running late. We email them as soon as the call time has passed.
Madelen Soto did not show up at all, therefore we sent this diplomatic, professional email after the shoot expressing our disappointment and detailing the negative impact this no-show has had on your team. This is inclusive of, it will cost us a few thousand to reschedule, and the hours and time we have spent organizing the shoot. We urge Madelen Soto to question their actions to help a future client prevent a no-show from this same model.
It is incredibly important to understand that unfavorable reviews are just as essential, if not even more so, as positive ones are.
These less-than-exciting reviews can act as immensely beneficial guides to Clients/employees with many weaknesses they need to improve on. Additionally, when given correctly, a poor performance review can lead to the building of new skills, higher productivity, career advancements, and even feelings of encouragement.
Thank you.
Sincerely Mr Sayless

Backstage Backstage.com Review: Fraudulent Activity and Violation of Privacy Laws

I recently had a terrible experience with Backstage (backstage.com) and I feel compelled to share it with others. I signed up for a 2-month trial with the company and received confirmation of my cancellation after the trial period ended. However, several months later, I noticed that they had been taking money out of my account without my consent or authorization. I was shocked and appalled by this fraudulent activity.

I tried to contact Backstage via email, but they completely ignored my messages. It wasn't until my bank flagged the multiple payments that I realized what was happening. I went on the app and found that they had been taking payments without my confirmation or renewal. This is a clear violation of privacy laws and I am extremely disappointed in their behavior.

I have all the proof I need to show that I cancelled my subscription months before any renewal. I never wanted to subscribe, only to try the trial. Despite this, Backstage still proceeded to commit fraud and take my money without my permission.

I urge others to look at the real reviews of this scammer website on Trustpilot and to be cautious when dealing with them. I will be reporting this company to the authorities and I hope that they will return the money they have stolen from me.

Backstage Backstage Review: Confusing Layout, Subpar Customer Service, and Spam Emails

Backstage is a website that offers casting opportunities for actors, but it's not the best option out there. The website layout is confusing and not user-friendly, which can make it difficult to navigate. The customer service is also subpar, with rude agents who don't seem to be able to help you with anything.

One of the biggest issues with Backstage is the spam emails you receive from "casting directors" in your inbox. These emails are often irrelevant and not worth your time. Additionally, many of the submissions you receive through Backstage are for National releases, which are extremely competitive and difficult to get an audition for.

If you do manage to narrow down your search to your local area, you'll find that most of the roles available are for gimmicky song and dance performances that are barely paid, if at all. This can be frustrating for actors who are looking for more serious and substantial roles.

Trying to cancel your subscription to Backstage can also be a nightmare. The method to cancel is unclear, and the customer service agents are unhelpful and rude. One agent named "Stephanie" was particularly unimpressive, copying and pasting full-length policy articles instead of actually helping me cancel my subscription.

Overall, I would recommend staying away from Backstage and instead using ActorsAccess or LA Casting. These websites offer better roles for actors and have more user-friendly interfaces. Don't waste your time and money on Backstage.

Backstage Beware of Backstage.com: Unauthorized Charges on Credit Card!

Me and my girl were in the Big Apple like 4 years ago. Her professor told her to check out backstage.com for auditions while we were there for the week. My girl used the site and then cancelled it that same month. We ain't been back to New York since and we ain't had no use for backstage.com. But, I ain't always on top of checking my credit card statements, ya know? Just recently, I found out that backstage.com has been charging me $149.95 every year for the past 3 years without my say-so, even though my girl cancelled it the same month she used it. Watch out, y'all! If backstage.com has your credit card number, they might keep using it without your permission. Don't make the same mistake we did. Don't cancel by phone... keep proof of your cancellation and make sure you keep an eye on your credit card statements. I bet we ain't the only ones who got hit by this at backstage.com!

Backstage Backstage Review: Not the Best Casting Site Out There

Backstage ain't the best casting site out there, that's for sure. If you're an actor looking for legit projects, you're better off checking out Actor's Access or Casting Networks. These sites actually take the time to check who's posting before allowing them to go public. Plus, their customer service is top-notch.

But Backstage? They let anyone post, which means you're more likely to run into unprofessional experiences and interactions. And trust me, I'm not the only one who thinks this. I've talked to plenty of other actors who have way more experience than me, and they all agree that Backstage is a total waste of time.

It's a shame, really. Back in the day, I hear it used to be a decent site. But now, it's just associated with non-professional postings and roles. And don't even get me started on their automatic enrollment. It's like a really bad gym membership that you can't get out of. Actor's Access, on the other hand, doesn't charge you after each year. They'll just contact you to let you know your year is ending and see if you want to renew.

So yeah, if you're looking for the same postings and better, skip Backstage and head over to Actor's Access or Casting Networks. Trust me, your time and money will be better spent elsewhere.

Backstage Disappointing Experience with Backstage: Lack of Communication and Suspicious Requirements

We decided to give Backstage a try and posted our first project on their website. However, we were taken aback when we were asked to provide identification information such as our name, social security number, and ID. This was the only website that required us to provide such information before we could post our project. One of our team members provided the information, but we soon received an email from Renata stating that they had trouble running a background check. This made us feel suspicious and uneasy.

To ensure that our company, 2BQPS, was safe and legitimate, we had to provide every detail in the email. We were asked to re-upload VIA onfido, which we did promptly. However, when we logged back in to Backstage, we found that our account had been suspended right after we had provided our identification information. This was a major red flag for us.

We tried to contact Renata through the same email we had communicated with before, but we received no response. We also used the "contact us" feature on Backstage, but again, we received no response. This lack of communication was frustrating and made us question the legitimacy of Backstage.

We have had no issues with other casting websites, and we believe that Backstage needs to improve its communication and transparency with its users. The requirement to provide identification information before posting a project is also concerning and may deter potential users from using the website. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience with Backstage and would not recommend it to others.

Backstage Backstage.com flooded with insulting casting calls for serious actors

I've been using Backstage (backstage.com) for years as an actor in theater, film, and TV. It's been a great resource for me to find auditions and connect with industry professionals. However, this year has been a bit of a disappointment for me. The website has been flooded with casting calls that I believe are insulting to serious actors like myself.

There are a lot of "UGC" (user-generated content) casting calls, as well as calls for "influencer types" for TikTok. These types of roles are practically spamming the website now, and there's no easy way to filter them out. I find these casting calls to be disgusting because they're a form of cheap labor. People film themselves for these "roles" and only get paid $150, which is on the low end compared to other more professional projects.

I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. I've talked to other actors who have messaged customer service to complain about these casting calls, but they're not helpful at all. It's like talking to a robot. In my opinion, these types of casting calls have ruined the website. I can't believe there isn't an option to never receive notifications or even see these types of casting calls.

If Backstage doesn't solve this issue, I don't think I'll renew my membership. It's just not worth it to sift through all the spam to find legitimate auditions. I hope they listen to their users and make some changes soon.

Backstage Backstage Magazine Review: A Disappointing Decline in Quality and User-Friendliness

Backstage used to be the go-to newspaper for actors, but since technology took over, it has gone downhill. The recent change to easy access for replies and self tapes has left me befuddled. As a more mature actor who wasn't raised on technology, I find it difficult to navigate and send in video reels and replies. To make matters worse, they disregard my filter info, and I still receive casting notices that have no remote connection to me. Some of these notices are even in other states that I don't have access to unless they provide travel costs. However, I do appreciate the national listing that includes transportation.

The magazine is boring and of no help to me. It's a big yawn! I probably won't renew my subscription when it ends. Actors Access is the way to go, and it's much less expensive. Backstage, you should list a customer service phone number instead of chat. Human to human is much more effective, just like in theater. You should know that! Get your act together to help more mature actors feel comfortable and operate with your data bank.

Overall, I give Backstage a thumbs totally down. It's a shame that it used to be the IT newspaper for actors, but now it's just not cutting it.

Backstage Backstage: A Scam for Independent Filmmakers - My Experience

I gotta say, I'm pretty ticked off about my experience with Backstage. This is actually my second time reaching out to complain about them. I mean, I forked over my hard-earned cash - $19.99, to be exact - to set up a profile on their site. And then, when I went to post a job for aspiring actors, I found out there were extra charges of $34.95 just to do that. What the heck, man?

So, I disputed the charges, obviously. But then I thought, you know what, I really need to get this job posted ASAP. So I went ahead and sent in my payment, driver's license, and bank info. And what do you know? Backstage decided they needed even MORE identification from me before they could approve my status. So now I'm out a total of $55.00, with no casting posted and no feedback from the company.

I'm beyond furious at this point. I mean, seriously, what kind of shady, discriminatory practices are they running over there? I'm not gonna take this lying down, though. I'm gonna pursue legal action against them for their fraudulent behavior towards independent filmmakers like myself. And I want my money back, ASAP. I don't have time to wait around for 7 days - I've got a production to film, and I need that cash back in my account, like, yesterday.

Backstage Backstage Review: A Mixed Bag for Actors and Performers

Backstage used to be the go-to place for all things acting, but now it's a bit of a mixed bag. You can find some good stuff on there, but you have to wade through a lot of junk to get to it.

The daily newsletter is a prime example of this. It's full of listings for unpaid and background roles, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. But the problem is that the site designers don't provide enough information in those listings. They don't tell you where the role is located, whether it's a paid gig, or what union affiliation it has. So you could end up clicking on a listing that sounds great, only to find out that it's on the other side of the country and you won't get paid.

It's frustrating, to say the least. You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to include a few extra details in the listings. Just put a little "NY" or "LA" or "Chi" or "Atl" next to the location, and a "U" or "non-U" next to the union status. And for the love of all that is holy, tell us whether it's a paid role or not!

Despite these shortcomings, Backstage does have some redeeming qualities. One of the best things about it is the online profile feature. You can create a profile that functions almost like a personal website, complete with your resume, headshots, and video and audio clips. This can be a great way to showcase your talents and get noticed by casting directors.

Overall, I'd say that Backstage is still worth checking out if you're an actor or performer. Just be prepared to sift through a lot of junk to find the good stuff. And don't get your hopes up too high when you see a promising listing – it might not be what it seems.

Backstage Beware of This Website: Scamming Actors and Poor Navigation

Watch out when you give your credit card deets to this website. They'll keep charging you more and more for renewals. Their refund policy is a real doozy, too. By the time you see the charge on your statement, it's too late to ask for a refund. They'll hit you with a full year's charge of $165, and they're counting on that to keep their pockets lined. It's a real shame that they're taking advantage of struggling artists like this.

Now, let's talk about the website itself. The design is pretty slick, but the navigation is all kinds of messed up. Every time you apply for a role, you gotta start from scratch with the filters. It's like they don't want you to apply for multiple roles or something. Once you apply for one, it's like you're checking out of a store or something. You gotta go back to the search function, enter all the filters again, and then scroll through all the pages to get back to where you were.

Most of the ads on here are for student productions, so don't expect too much professionalism. You'll be lucky to find a real role for a real production. It seems like this website is just for productions that can't get actual talent and are looking for free labor.

Backstage castings

I received a curt un qualified email stating that Backstage were banning me . I am VERY upset about this as I do my best to care about the people I choose to work with . The lack of engagement with myself in attempting to resolve this situ smacks of bureaucratic anonymousness that large organisations resort to when they really do not actually CARE at all ...

Desired outcome: reinstate access to Backstage

Backstage Avoid at all costs!

I have signed up for an annual subscription and these people from Backstage promised I'll get charged only once but that was a lie! Next month they charged me again and later the same thing happened. I contacted their terrible customer service and they refused to refund my money. They were extremely rude and unprofessional! I asked them to cancel my subscription and they said that was not possible - one I subscribed I can't cancel my account! Are you kidding me? I call the police and we shut down your scam organization! Total scam!

Backstage They charged me and I didn't get the promised services

I have subscribed for the services of www.backstage.com. I have pressed the button “subscribe” and provided my contact details. After that this company charged me and didn’t send me any info about subscription. I didn’t get any help, news or anything else. When I tried to reach someone from this site, they avoided me and haven’t responded. It is scam, so better don’t pay them.

it appears that I am being charged twice, and attempts to communicate with customer service have been dead ends. The phone number only lets you leave a message, not possible to speak to a customer service person to attempt to resolve.
