Poor patient treatment
I have been a patient of Haley Bivens at Baycare mental health for over two years. The way she has treated me is inexcusable. I’ve been on Vyvanse Twenty milligrams and fifty milligrams for years.
The pharmacy could not get the twenty milligrams so she was going to call in twenty milligrams of adderall. That never happened. She has not filled any of my prescriptions since January. She got in touch with me. I went to her office twice and spoke to the receptionist and she said Haley couldn’t see me. I had my cardiologist that works for Baycare go to her office they told him she was busy. He left his number for her to call him. He had called me in a script for adderal and refilled my vyvanse to hold me over. She never had the courtesy to return his call. I called several times and left messages and spoke with her nurse letting her know the situation.
The nurse said she wouldn’t refill them because he had called them in and said I would have to get him to fill them. The nurse said she would t talk to Haley and tell her he only called them in because she hadn’t and I needed them. I had an appointment with her on Thursday. The office called and said they had to cancel that appt and asked if I could come in at 4:20. I said yes. Then at 4:00 I get ant call and they tell me I can’t see her that I would be seeing Dr Jackson who I’d never heard of. I went to the office at 4:20 thinking I’m going to see Dr Jackson. The receptionist said your not seeing Haley you have to make an appointment with Dr Jackson in Tampa. I said why didn’t you tell me that I wouldn’t have come to the office. She said she did but she didn’t. I had been waiting three months for that appointment. I now have to start all over again.
I am very upset with the way I have treated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My cardiologist name is Dr Leslie Miller. He said you may call him if you want clarification. He treats his patients with respect.
Sincerely
Cindy Meehan

Nurse
Nurse Italia Maggiacomo License Number: RN9527547 publicly called herself an “educated drug dealer” for the world to see online. This seems extremely concerning that a registered nurse caring for patients in an emergency room setting, especially with the climate of this country and it’s opiate epidemic… it’s extremely disconcerting that a nurse would refer to themself as a “drug dealer”
Baycare primary care-prescription issue refer to other bs
BAYCARE PRIMARY CARE-PRESCRIPTION ISSUE REFER TO OTHER BS
Today I had to go into my primary care office to be seen (just take my $25) because I needed a refill of a medication I have been taking for over a year. All of a sudden and without reason I'm being referred to some other blood sucking copay doctor (MORE $75) because I do not want to be put on multiple bs meds that make me feel like a zombie. I REFUSE!. Quit trying to force people to do this. I know what works for me. I'm sick n tired of every time I go there, I need the bs test that bs test etc etc follow up more money and I don't need all these stupid [censored] tests. You make me do blood work and nothing ever comes out of it no review no discussion, just pain for me to do this more stress and you more $ for the broken $ sucking system. I'm sorry but I'm not a drug addict, drunk or fall into any Narcan category. Yes, I hate dealing with you idiot people and prefer to not have to deal with such bs as it stresses me out all the unnecessary run around. I call the doctor when I'm actually sick but today you made me sick! Treated me like some criminal. I'm insulted by the lack of professionalism I experienced. I feel like this is PURE RETALIATION for you billing me incorrectly not once but twice causing me to have to cc the whole damn co with your error and let you know I'm not some elderly person who is just going to pay a bill from 2021 in 2023 that magically appeared out of nowhere with no explanation. Or a bill you sent me once (I had already paid, and your rep even sent me an email confirming this (which I saved) only to get the same bill again 4 months later (nice try) So today you think you got the last laugh; well, we shall see about that. You might just have killed me with this move. Perhaps an attorney might want to look into a class action lawsuit against your co for fraud and retaliation abuse of an elderly person excessive referrals unnecessary tests etc.
Desired outcome: save your bs paper telling me get a new primary doctor. Like I would ever [censored]ing go there again! stop trying 2 recoup all your lost income from pandemic in 1 year. people are sick of your rip offs. INSURANCE IS A SCAM & Baycare & Baycare
. Oh, and save your bs paper telling me to get a new primary doctor. Like I would ever [censored]ing go there again! stop trying to recoup all your lost income from the pandemic in one year. people are sick of your rip offs. INSURANCE IS A SCAM and baycare
Social worker and hospital staff at Mease Countryside Hospital
Released Alzheimer’s patient to rehab without authorization. My dad with diagnosed Alzheimer’s was sent on an ambulance to Oldsmar rehab center after back surgery without our consent and no paperwork. We are his health advocates, were at the hospital everyday (9 days) and asked to be informed when the move took place. Called serval times that morning and not one called back. Was told to hold off by the nurse and come in the afternoon. When we got ahold of the social worker at 2pm they had moved him.
Desired outcome: So this does not happen to another Alzheimer’s family member
Is BayCare Legit?
BayCare earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While BayCare has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. - BayCare protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
- If you purchased a website from BayCare that is currently for sale, and you did not receive what you paid for, you may be a victim of a scam. To try and get your money back, you can try contacting the seller, filing a dispute with the payment platform, or reporting the seller to the relevant authorities.

Hysteroscopy remove mymoma
I am scheduled to have this procedure done on Friday, May 27. It takes approx 20 mins with anesthesia, I may be in the hospital for approx 3 hours. I was just called today. Wed May 24 at 2 pm and was told with insurance I would need to pay $10,021UP FRONT! This is an absolute scam! My insurance company knows you have doubled the price. This is NOT an elective procedure AND they are saying this doesn’t include anesthesia pathology or Radiology
Desired outcome: Charge a fair and acceptable price. In a timely manner.
Dental
Time frame all 2022and first 4 months of 2023. for all intent baycare dental was non existent in 2022. and they talked me into an additional dental supplant that cost me over 400 in extra payments to a non existent dental policy. SO what do they call it when someone takes your money knowing their not going to give you anything in return. does the government or medicare call that fraud, scam, what do you call it. I may not get my payments back, But I will spread the word, I have sent E-mail to the governor, rubio, medicare and an injury lawyer, and am waiting for a response. I quess your response to this letter will also be to file it with all the other complaints.!
Desired outcome: I WANT MY MONEY BACK THAT I PAID FOR NON EXISTENT DENTAL SERVICE.
Patient being discharged too early!
My mother Suzanne Myers is being forced to leave the hospital even though she still has a pick line and drain tube in her abdomen. She lives in Florida by herself and has no one to help her. We feel that she is not well enough to leave the hospital and take care of herself. I called and asked for the hospital health coordinator to call me but the nurse Kathy said no one was available and that she was already discharged even though an appeal was filed and an independent doctor said she should not be. I life in Maryland and cannot get anyone to call me back about what is going on, what the actual status is and what options we have. My sister was told this morning that she could not visit her at the hospital again because she forgot twice previously that she had a firearm in her purse twice, that she legally carries for protection. We feel that this was done in retaliation because we filed an appeal.
Desired outcome: Keep her there until she is well enough to leave. Have someone from the legal department contact me.
Billing
In September 2021 had a mammogram done, insurance company paid the majority of bill. In October 2022 had a mammogram, again insurance covered the majority of bill. January 2023 i received an email saying I had a bill due. The bill is for both years, I have called and emailed Baycare 5 times asking for a paper invoice, today I received a past due bill via email. I want a paper invoice to review with my insurance company since Baycare waited over a year to bill me.
Desired outcome: Would like a paper invoice to review with my insurance company.
Outpatient Surgery Agreement and Consent Form
On September 21, 2022, I was scheduled for pre-op for a procedure to be done on September 28, 2022. All was going well, until... The Patient Agreement and Consent for Services for was handed to me on a tablet. I was advised on where to sign, and expected to sign it. Since I am a perfectionist, and had a similar form handed to me before, I read through it...

We live near the St. Joseph North so this is the hospital of choice. I went there to get a stent placed on the RCA and I was very pleased with the treatment I received. Then I went again to have my gallbladder removed and again the treatment was superb, returned a few days later to treat my phenomena and it was a great experience too.
Now go to April 7, 2021 around 2 am I checked-in thinking I was having a kidney stone passing. After the entire test the results were negative except for some stones found in the kidneys, but I was still having pain. I was given Zofran and Morphine which does not show on my discharge papers. As the doctor was explaining my symptoms I started having severe abnormal cramps so the doctor gave me 2 capsules of Dicyclomine to help with the cramps which did not help immediately. So the nurse came in and told me that I had to leave so I asked if I could stay a little while longer till the pain passed. No said the nurse you have to leave now there is nothing wrong with you, so they put me on a wheel chair and we went out through ER waiting room which was empty. At this time I was wheeled out to the parking lot where my wife waited then she drove me home. When we got home my wife gave me a drink of cold water and the pain started to subside. Would 15 minutes more at the ER been a problem for your staff?
I have never been so humiliated in my life and never have I been treated like this in your facility. I have never seen so many rude staff in your hospital, I was totally shocked, and there was no compassion at all.
If I ever have to go to the hospital I may have second thoughts about going to St. Joseph North, but I realize that bad things happen and I am hoping that this problem can be corrected.
P.S. The doctor diagnose was a mild case of IBD.
According to my legal advice and should not pay this amount.
If I get another collection notice I will contact my attorney and it will not be for $90.
Care, treatment, staff,
Everything you do in life always try your best to see the best in every situation, but sometimes even that is hard to do.
I thought baycare is about morals, values, honesty, loyalty but the core laws or values are twisted and filter to make the company look decent. Staff are being abused, maltreated, malpractice, defending lies and actions of other staff who are not doing their job but using title or in job power to abuse others to feel above, bigger, superior, and Better than. When a patient family complains their needs are never met but judged, laughed at, made fun of, and In the end defend their behavior why it's not met. Patients are being brought into the ER and being neglected and being thrown over to the next person where they have to pick up the maltreatment from the last staffing or in other words nurses who are responsible for making sure each of their own patients are being met and taken CARE of. Their not. People of different races are being mocked, bullied, made fun off by their accent, and what and where they came from and being pushed around to work harder than some people while rest sit on their phones and talk all day getting paid to service people with malpractice in the end.
Care and values needs to be revaluated. People wanna complain but truth is lazy has increased in some ethnicity while thinking their not suppose to work hard it's for the minority to work harder not them! And the families of the patients are being treated neglected and malpractice are being practice here instead. Welcome to St. Anthony's Hospital where you will see and find that type of CARE and behavior here!
Desired outcome: Needs to be addressed and handle. "Too remain silent in the face of evil is itself a form of evil". Practice what you preach.
Billing
On December 11, 2020 my husband was in Bay Care for medical testing in the lab. You have our insurance information on file and we weren't told there was anything due by us at that time. In the past you have collected our portion. on 6/23/2022 I received a bill with bold PAST DUE letters saying we owed $43.55.
I never agreed to, nor received a bill to our email address. Why weren't we ever billed for this via USPS and why did it take you over 5 months to send a bill stating past due? Meanwhile, I had outpatient testing done months ago and you owe me. I received a text from Bay Care earlier this week saying I had an outstanding balance and when I called was told Bay Care owed me over $50. The testing was done last year as well.
Your billing practices are terrible. Your patient care is better than most but I won't be there long if you don't straighten out the billing. This $43.55 had better not be reported to the credit bureau or my next conversation will not be so pleasant.
Get it together. I am not leaving my name, etc., since you publish these responses but this is unacceptable and I expect better.
Desired outcome: This bill has been paid, no action on my part required but Bay Care needs to be billing outstanding balances well before 5 months after the insurance carrier has paid them.
Woman's wellness exam
I scheduled for a woman's wellness exam. I expressly asked for the pap etc considering cervical and breast cancer runs in my family. My mother passed due to breast cancer. I was assured my visit I had to wait for over a month for was for the exam. I get back into the room to be told that this was only for a "new patient consultation". I then receive an invoice for over $200 dollars after my insurance had removed some charges. Had this been the wellness as I was led to believe, I would not have been charged. I also see on the bill it was coded as "out patient". I am a single woman living on a very fixed budget.. It is horrible to have Doctors out there scamming people like me. DISGUSTING! I spoke with someone on the phone to cancel my June 24th appointment to have her tell me I do not seem to be a patient!
I saw Julie Taylor - my account #[protected]
My name is Michelle Buchholz

Desired outcome: Recode my bill and pay me back the $30 I have already paid!
Ordering patient food
My name is Juan centeno room 319 bed 1. Had such a problem with ordering my food yesterday (6-3-22) friday.was waiting on the phone for about 20 minutes no one came on the line. Hanged up waited a few minutes more and tried again another 20 minutes. Had to talk to the nurse so she can place my order. And today (6-4-22) Saturday had the same issue this time now they said they are not serving any hot meals due to some kind of issue in the kitchen only cold meals. My contact number is [protected]... thank you.
Desired outcome: Needs better communication
driver
On 2/7/2022 one of the drivers for BayCare was driving extremely dangerous swerving in and out of traffic and scared me very badly as we were going about 60 MPH the driver got behind me in the left lane and was extremely close to me if I had to break even a little bit he would have smashed into me. He then swerves around me and speeds up even faster when I was already going over the speed limit by 5 MPH and went weaving in and out between other cars. I'm surprised he didn't get into a wreck I'm sure he will cause a very bad accident at some point. This happened at 9:13 AM license plate (DEG L34)
Desired outcome: I would like for that driver to be given a different position or terminated that is unacceptable as peoples lives are on the line and this is a very serious matter I could've been badly injured.
BayCare Alliant Hospital
When in the history of medicine was it anything but irresponsible to put patients with infectious, communicable disease near immune compromised patients? That's what BayCare Alliant Hospital of Dunedin, FL is doing. You don't dare complain about it lest they ban you from visiting your friend or family member. Not the fault of hard working RNs and techs. "It's the hospital's policy."
Desired outcome: Stop trying to infect immune compromised patients.
Billing Department
My husband went to Bartow Hospital ER on August 1, 2021 with Covid and was there to get the Monoclonal Antibody..On August 29th, 2021 he received a bill for $1590.94. I called Baycare and ask for an itemized bill, there I saw we were being charged for the Monoclonal Antibody so I wrote an emal to your grievance department telling them that the Monoclonal Antibody was suppose to be covered by the Federal Government..On September 16, 2021 I recieved a letter from a Shannon Bishop, Customer Relations Specialist stating that she agrees that the Monoclonal Antibody was covered by the Federal Government, so I called her to ask her to adjust the bill and she told me she would..It's now November and I am yet to recevie the adjusted bill. I have called numerous times and can NOT get a supervisor to speak with me, I'm always told someone will call me back and that has NEVER happened..November 8, 2021 I called to negotiate my bill asking for 30% off since I was told I would get a revised bill..I spoke with Shawna in bill pay and she told me she would take my information to her supervisor and call me Tuesday..Tuesday November 9th came and she called me around 3:00pm and told me that she had not had a chance to speak with her supervisor and she had an appointment on Wednesday to speak with her about my husband's case and promised to call me Wednesday November 10th..It's now November 15th and stil have not heard anything, so I called again and left her message to call me but I wil not hold my breath cause I feel I'm getting the run around. This is terrible business practices, I know we (my family) will never use another Bay Care facility..
Desired outcome: Adjusted Bil
BayCare urgent care Carillon facility
During these trying times with COVID it is difficult to get a visit with my primary; therefore when I need treatment I go to an Urgent care, which is my right to be seen and treated, I have insurance to go to these facilities. I have breathing issues which are triggered by the work I am involved in and by cleaning chemicals I use at home. I have heart issues that I have medication to control this issue with. I visited this urgent care clinic today and felt the P A with whom I received a consult with was not compassionate or professional in any way. No bedside manner whatsoever! She made reference to my prior visits ( made me feel like I should not be coming to the clinic for my care) she made me feel like she was drilling me instead of asking about my health, she made me feel like she was talking down to me, she refused to give me a breathing treatment telling me I was in Afib and I should go to ER, I DID NOT FEEL like I was in afib, no chest pain and I felt normal.
I asked if I could get treatment and remain there for observation if she was uncomfortable and her response was "it's not my job to observe here" I told her I had been sent to ER previously with a situation similar and they SENT ME HOME after a 700.00 bill. She then made references to me about money from my prior visit, There needs to be someone who cares about people on staff at the Urgent Care Clinics, not just shuffle off to ER. Consequently I went home and I am still wheezing and I am NOT IN AFIB. Her name is Andrea Bird
I am putting in a complaint about her service. 9/24/2021
THE MALE NURSE WAS AWESOME.
St. Anthony's Hospital Visit 6/7/21-6/9/21 and 6/10/21-6/13/21
I was admitted to St. Anthony's hospital for a facial bacterial infection.
The ER and infectious disease doctor were unable to determine what bacteria was causing my infection. They performed would cultures which came up as no growth. Finally my primary care physician did a more accurate and precise culture which showed I had pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. I was finally given the correct antibiotics by my primary care physician to take care of the infection.
I went thru a week of anxiety and pain due to the hospital's incompetence. Also, I am now left with several hospital bills.
Desired outcome: I don't feel I should have to pay my bills. I would like a zero balance.
Service
I have received Prolia from my provider for 5 years. Now, since Baycare has taken over my MD's practice, Prolia is not being given. So goes continuity of care. Apparently, Baycare deems Osteoporosis is out of my physicians area of practice. So I will go elsewhere for my primary care. Good job!
I am aware that my primary MD tried very hard to resume the kind of practice he is so respected for.
So long to quality care.
Desired outcome: Provide better continuity of care.
Extreme poor communication among the staff and the clients family.
Room 320 King. I was told by hospice to pick up my mom after 5pm. she is ready to go home. I arrive and she is not ready; she still have meds to take prior to release. I then return home to make dinner . I was told to come and pick up my mom after her last meds were given at 7pm. I waited 10 minutes (7:10pm) to go and pick her up. I arrive at the main entrance 7:20pm. I call up stairs for the nurse and was told that the floor was waiting on transportation.
Fast forward; the announcement comes over the intercom that the main doors will be looked at 8:00pm. I call up stairs at 7:54pm only to be told that no one from transportation has shown up. No call down stairs to inform King's family. Third floor still had no ETA on the transport person. I drove back home and still waiting on a call that my mother is down stairs to be picked up(8:15pm). Maybe just maybe there should be a change in protocol when a patient will be released. Having a family wait for Winter Haven's Transport is embarrassing and the poorest customer service we have received from any hospital . Now she will be released through a crowed ER with sick people not knowing what she may contract. I pray she does not have to return to your hospital for any reason. Thanks to her nurses and doctors that cared for her. Such a shame her experience had to be ruined by piss poor communication between transport and the third floor nurse station.
Desired outcome: I live in the REAL world, Absolutely nothing is going to change with your transport area or the employees.
