Our Toyota Tacoma truck's battery needed to be jumpstarted early on 4/26/24 morning; it was under warranty with Brakes Plus. So, I brought the running Tacoma in to get a new battery for my husband; he had to go to work. They told me it needed a new alternator. I contacted my husband, who called Toyota and was confirmed that it was covered under our extended Toyota warranty and to bring it in. Brakes Plus was almost not going to install a battery (plus they had to order one) because they said the 2017 Tacoma's alternator didn't work they couldn't install a new one. I told Brakes Plus I would immediately take it to Toyota. They installed the battery that finally arrived. Toyota was busy Friday, 4/26, and couldn't do a diagnostic check until the next day (We had to keep it there overnight) on Saturday, they stated the alternator was ok but charged us $170 to do the diagnostic test. Initially, Brakes Plus only showed me this receipt paper showing a poor alternator, which I did not get to keep, but it is stated on my receipt about the alternator, with the battery install. We were inconvenienced and wasted time and money on an unnecessary diagnostic test.
Desired outcome: This BP company needs to be investigated to see if they do this type of deception regularly. We would like a reimbursement for the unnecessary test of $187 including the taxes. See photos. Thank you. R & R Ventrella
