Diploma mill
Breyer State "University" is an unaccredited, unlicensed diploma mill that has fled from state to state and has embarrased "alumni" such as James Wasser in New Jersey. They operate now, unregulated, out of a California mail drop box. Avoid!

Breyer State University had problems with regulations from 2001 to 2012-ish. They threw out their old programs and hired professors with PhD degrees from accredited universities to teach as of current. Even though the university is not accredited currently, they do adhere to the regulations of Florida State to issue degrees. Accredited schools tend to push political agendas in their coursework. Breyer State just sticks to book material actually related to your area of study, without biased professors pushing politics on students. Accreditation is necessary in some areas of study, but all it really means is the university is required to pay an annual fee saying we approve of the agendas intertwined in your coursework. As a result, your student loans pay for the universities' membership fees for accreditation annually. Where most people have a problem with Breyer State is the cost effectiveness. They are pissed off because someone didn't get themselves into massive student loan debt to earn a degree. If you are looking to get into a very competitive career, then you might want to attend an accredited university that is very reputable in your area of focus. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with Breyer State other than personal opinion. The university issues legal degrees whether someone likes it or not.
Hello Grad_Student,
I have been considering Breyer State Theology University for the Doctorate of Psychology degree, Grief Counseling. In my 50's, the accelerated program has appealed to me. However, I am concerned, after reading a variety of negative reviews. Do you feel you were prepared? And what is your opinion?

They are now operating in Florida under Breyer State Theology University and state that "BSTU is authorized by the Department of Education Florida, Commission on Independent Education, Section 1005.06(1)(f), to award Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degrees." https://breyerstate.com/
Anyone know if this is a scam, ripoff, or legit?
