Dear Canadian Tire Ombudsman,
On Saturday, January 8th at approximately 7pm I went to the Canadian Tire Store located at 7878 120st, Surrey BC. I had purchased the Type A Freestanding Closet [36"x20"x68" barcode [protected]] in August 2020. I realize that was a few months ago but we had just completed the renos in our spare bedroom, so I did not have a chance to try and put it together until this past Saturday. I noticed that there were some pieces missing so I went back to try and exchange it or get the missing parts. First, I spoke with a Customer Relations Representative who was unable to assist. Then I spoke with the Manager on duty (I am sorry I did not get his name). In all the commotion with the renos I mistakenly misplaced the receipt, but I did have the transaction on my debit statement which I showed him. He was not in the least bit helpful. He said he could not find the transaction in his system and therefore, even though he can see the transaction on my statement, without a hard copy of the receipt his in unable to help me. I told him that if he is unable to do an exchange then I am willing to pay for another one if he would kindly give me a 10% discount at the very least and I would leave the defective closet with him. He said that he can't do that as the item I was willing to purchase is already at a discount. I have always shopped at Canadian Tire. He had no desire whatsoever to meet me part-way even though my bank statement clearly showed the amount, the store number and transaction number. I am extremely disappointed as I have always had great service at Canadian Tire. I realize that unfortunately to my error, in hindsight I should have checked the box as soon as I got home in order to return it right away. Lesson learned for me. This Manager was very abrasive with me and could have handled this situation with a bit more understanding. I just wanted to bring this to your attention if nothing else than to vent my frustration.
Canadian Tire - Additional procedures done without permission
On September 29th, I went to Candian Tire to change the tires of my car to winter tires. In the temporary invoice, the employee, Mr. Amit, tagged on additional charges of $129.99 for re-alignment. I had declined the offer after some thought and before the work had begun. I paid the full bill as not to cause conflict but, I seek a full refund of the $129.99 I had paid for a re-alignment that I did not need.
Moreover, he threatened that he will remove the tires that he fixed. I replied, "No. I will pay for that". From my past encounters with Candian Tire, I had a rather positive perception of the company but, this experience was not pleasant.

I look forward to the resolution of this problem.
Canadian Tire - 2005 acura el wheel bearing install
Long story short, the Canadian Tire on Scott Road in Surrey BC installed a set (drivers & passengers) of wheel bearings that I had bought elsewhere into my 2005 Acura EL -BACKWARDS! An EL is basically a rebadged Honda Civic which is a VERY COMMON car out here in BC. If they can't properly press a bearing on a car like this, what the hell can they do? Pics are of the new drivers bearing that I had to get pressed out [of course -by another garage] only 4 days old and obviously not reusuable -$110 down the drain. You can see in the pics stress marks on the side of the bearing from being MISALIGNED & FORCED IN. The other garage took pics of the hub/bearing CT did and they showed that the bearing wasn't even flush with the hub, there was about a 3mm gap. The passengers side is just starting to make noise which leads me to believe that one was installed backwards as well. Will never take any vehicle I own to CT again. Bottom line is - IF YOU LOVE OR VALUE YOUR CAR AT ALL - DO NOT GET IT SERVICED AT CANADIAN TIRE. You have been warned.
