Early Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2021, my husband and I had a list of establishments we were setting out to visit with the intention of buying a high-end push mower and some other items. We scrapped our list in favor of a 'one-stop shop' at Canadian Tire. Upon arrival at a very un-busy, but cluttered lawn equipment area, we were pleasantly impressed that two young men who were busy moving boxes of stock with a fork lift, took time from their assignment to answer many questions and help us make a decision on a lawn mower. As my husband was occupied at the computer with one of these staff members, checking availability of the $600. item we had chosen to purchase, I slowly circled around the area with my cart, which I use because of mobility issues, and checked out other items in that department. There was a single EMPTY pallet in my path, so I gently, literally nudged it, 6"over and was immediately accosted and I by a very aggressive female employee (who was merchandizing some shelves in the area). I backed away from her as she yelled at me"what you did was extremely dangerous and if you need help you should have asked an employee!"I looked around to make sure she was talking to me, as what she was saying made absolutely no sense. Her tone and aggressive posturing was such that I listened without a word and let her finish stating her concern. I feared that any defensive reply may escalate the situation, so I merely said"thank you"and walked to where my husband and the other fellow were. I was rather stunned and quietly let my husband know I needed to leave. The young man helping us looked bewildered, and as I did not want to 'snitch' on the other employee, I merely wondered 'if he knew if his fellow employee was"alright"?' He did not reply. Unbeknownst to me, my husband had witnessed part of the incident and said to the young man,"actually, she was quite rude and aggressive with my wife. We apologized to him and said we were going to leave now and reconsider our purchase", and thanked him for his help. We left the store, both of us upset. By the way, this morning, Monday, we made a purchase of the same lawn mower, a Huskavarna, at an independent dealer. Your present and future loss Canadian Tire, you've offended these two loyal and good customers for the last time.
Desired outcome: I do not wish that anyone lose a job over a correctible behavioral issue. I do hope that management would address this with the offending employee.
