secured card
I went with Capital One because they said $99 deposit for a $200 limit. I thought, "Hey, meet me halfway." I was approved and gave them all the necessary information. Was told it would take two to three weeks to receive card AFTER deposit was acquired. Two to three weeks? My wife got a regular card from them last month and it took 5 days! But I digress... So I wait 17 days and got card today. It said on card to call and activate. I called and got a middle-eastern gentleman named "Leroy"... Can't be too many Indians named Leroy. But I digress... Leroy says my card has been flagged for fraudulent use. ...?! How, so? I haven't activated it?! Then he goes into a mantra about concerns for my identity being safe. Odd, my wife didn't do anything more than call and use an automated number to activate her card. After giving Leroy my name, phone and social security number, he says he's going to ask me some public record information to ensure I am who I am. At that point my patience departed and I said, "No, no, no, no, no. Cancel the account and send me back my $99. He says, "Uh, hold please." Then five minutes later comes back and starts flapping about me being responsible for any charges on the card. I'm like, "What charges?! YOU didn't ACTIVATE the card!" Leroy says just ignore anything I say that doesn't pertain to you. After rambling for three minutes telling me crap that has no bearing on my never-activated card, he says I'll get my money MAILED to me after two billing cycles... Two months? Two freaking months? Meanwhile they're making interest on my money for which I got nothing but grief. Told Leroy if I didn't get my money as stated, I would contact the Illinois Attorney General. Goodbye, Leroy. Man, if I read some of these horror stories beforehand I would have saved myself a month of horse&%#.
charged for first class airline tickets but received premium economy at check-in
On November 1, 2015, I purchased two First Class, round trip tickets from Boston to Rome on Alitalia using the Capital One Rewards Travel website. The tickets were purchased as a birthday present for my wife, but our entire trip was ruined by Capital One’s fraudulent activity.
On Saturday, July 16, 2016, the day we were supposed to depart for Rome (after flying all the way across the country from Los Angeles to Boston), I tried to check into our flight. Once I reached the seat selection screen on Alitalia’s website, I was only given the option to select Premium Economy seats notwithstanding the fact that I clearly purchased First Class tickets as evidenced by the attached reservations from the Capital One Reward Travel website. I immediately called Alitalia to ask why I could not check into First Class, and they said the tickets in their reservation system showed up as Premium Economy, not First Class. The Alitalia agent said I would need to discuss the discrepancy with whomever I purchased the tickets from.
I immediately called the Capital One phone number listed on my reservation receipt and spoke with Nanette S., Agent Sign AOC in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I explained the problem and asked that she put us in First Class on the flight we were booked on, or the other direct Alitalia flight scheduled earlier that same day. After spending over an hour on the phone, Nanette told me that despite my reservations clearly stating that I purchased First Class tickets, there must have been a computer error and she could not do anything for me. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, and she refused. Nanette then proceeded to tell me that my only choices were to accept a refund or pay to upgrade my tickets from Premium Economy to First Class! I was in such disbelief that I put her on speaker phone and asked her to repeat this so everyone else in the room could hear her response. In addition, I asked her to put it in writing and have attached a copy of her email to me stating the same thing.
I am still in complete disbelief that Capital One told me 10 hours before our flights that, even though I bought First Class tickets and had reservation receipts to prove it, my only choices were to accept a refund and rebook my tickets with someone else or pay to upgrade them from Premium Economy. I cannot explain to you how devastated my wife and I were, as she was literally brought to tears. Capital One completely defrauded us and callously destroyed a celebratory vacation that was planned eight and one half months in advance. We were left with no recourse and flew round trip in Premium Economy as evidenced by our attached boarding passes.
Capital One and its employee’s behavior was both fraudulent and abhorrent. I am asking to receive the two First Class, round trip tickets we purchased, although no compensation can alleviate the anguish caused to my family.
scam/ phone call received on 8/19/16
I was called by a man to lower my credit card interest. Capital one, American express, or discover cards. They see I m a candidate to do this, payments on time and you pay more than the minimum payment. I need to verify your card number..gives me first 4 numbers. I said this isn't a scam. You should have my numbers. He said, he was affilated with capital one and this is what they do after you've been with us for at least six months. I just need you to verify the right card for processing. Read numbers, asked when card expires, and said ok, he s sent it in to be done. Your zip code is? ok. You'll hear from capital one in 2 to 3 business days. Have a great day! When he didn't give me new interest, a flag went up. I called capital one and she told me it wasn't them. scam! I cancelled both of my cards for new ones! phone# [protected]...this is the number that called me. I am Holly Brown and my number is [protected]...if any questions.
Received a call from credit card services to lower my rate, they said they spoke for discover etc. and capital one, Gave them last four digits on card and last four digits of ssn, , they told me my balance and last payment, thought they were legitmate.they then asked for rest of card numbers to verify and then connected me to another Indian voice who told me what my rate would be and then my bank card would be charged $3, 999.00 and I knew then it was a scam.I told them you can't do that and he got nasty and I hung up phone and immediately called Capital one to report and also the better business bureau was made aware of this call. caller I.D number they were using was Blue cross of N.E.Pa., should have looked at that first.
They just called me too...
credit card harassment calls
I have been getting phone calls for awhile now and I was in a car accident and had to change jobs due to back problems I will have the rest of my life and I get phone calls two to three times a day. Last week I got one and told the guy I had to look at my bills before I could see what I can do so I got a call Thursday asking me what I can do and they told me about there payment plans and that is something I can't do so this morning I made a very small payment of 5.00 then an hour and half I get a call from another jerk from captail one saying I haven't paid anything on the account so I told this guy I made a payment and he keeps fighting with me so I told him that I made a payment and if it's not good enough for you then my account is paid in full and I'm filling harassment charges and I ended the call. I can't have these people calling me and stressing me out I have osteoarthritis in my back and I was told by my doctor to watch my stress levels and having these people fight with me does not help I'm sorry I ever signed up with capital one never again
unauthorized credit card charges
I have charges on my credit card that I never gave permission for. Dates are march 15 for $19.95 an April 14 $19.95. I am requesting the money be refunded to me and no more taken out. In the morning I guess I will get a hold of my capitol one card company and cancel. I was married for 30 years now divorced now trying to billed credit but with jerks like you I will never get a head so I will just cancel card and pay it off. just so you know you have ruined my chance for credit I'm 57 and disabled so thanks a bunch I don't make hardly anything a month that card was for emergencies. thanks Kimberly S . Brown
What are the charges for and how did they get your card number? Did you buy something online?
I am complaining that capital one has been harrassing me with illegal collections activity since june 2015
My account was for Gottschalks retail company and I was signed up for a slow pay on my account since Gottschalks was changed to HSBC retail under Capital One. As of June 2015 Gottschalks HSBC was no longer able to credit my payments every month. I have a check that they sent back because the account no longer existed on the crediting side of the business. Only the billing number existed, thus, I only received a bill each month for an account that did not exist anymore as of June 2015. Capital One has been performing illegal bill collections for an account that no longer existed because they sold off that business or whatever they did...they do not have the right to assume that debt from Gottschalks! The account disappeared and that is that! Not my fault. That is theirs. I will now report Stoneleigh Recovery Associates LLC to the California Bureau of Financial Institutions for their illegal debt collection activity ever since June of 2015. I made every attempt to find out what happened and even sent a letter which I have a copy of also complaining to them they can't keep sending me a bill for an account that does not exist anymore. They did not care about that. They kept persisting. I contacted some lawyers about this and they told me I should report them to the California Bureau of Financial Institutions for their illegal activities, which has now spread to SToneleigh Recovery Associates LLC which is another illegal bunch of crap for Capital One.
garnishment past the statute of limitations
I had a Capitol One Master Card Opened in 2008, I lost my job and it was charged off in 2010. I currently have 2 Capitol One VISAs both paid on time every month. Capitol One's Attorney Jacques Machol Of Machol & Johannes 700 17th Street Suite 200, Denver, CO 80202 on March 1, 2011 sent 3 process servers to my home at 9:15 p.m. I noticed they were writing my license plate number down, when I asked them to leave they wouldn't. My husband also asked them to leave, they wouldn't sat outside our home trying to intimidate us for about 2 hours until we called the police, who made them leave. When they saw it was the police they tried to speed away but the police stopped them we were going to file harassment charges. We Never heard from Machol & Johannes after that. We applied for a Mortgage Dec 28 2015 and found out Capitol One had put this old debt on my credit report on Jan 11, 2016 as if it was a brand new debt when I called Capitol One the first representative told me she would have it deleted from all 3 credit reports but couldn't and had to transfer me to another girl that told me it had been charged off and to contact the attorney, when I asked why it was Capitol One trying to put an old Account on my credit report as new she had no answer. Today, Jan 22, 2016 I found out that Machol & Johannes still representing Capitol One for this charged off account has garnished my wages at my new job. I have never been notified and only found out because I checked my Paycheck Stub. Colorado
statue of limitations is 6 years. The Credit Limit was $2000, Capitol One Charged Exorbitant Overlimit Fees, After it was charged off making me owe $5387.00. I have no public records and have worked hard to get my credit where it needs to be. Because Of Capitol One Banks and their Attorney's illegal business practices I am unable to have my name put on a mortgage and when the Process servers were sent and would not leave violating me and my family's constitutional right to privacy. From what I understand, per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, they cannot send anyone past the 9:00 pm hour. Please Help me with this situation with Capitol One and have them reverse the Garnishment. Filing complaints with the Consumer Protection Bureau they contact Capitol One, they call me say We are the Corporate office and are "working on it" and then 6 calls later, still say they are "working on it" and then say someone else is "working on it" 10 voicemails later STILL not answering their attorney answers the Consumer complaint saying Capitol One is taking care of it, that was 2 weeks ago STILL haven't done ANYTHING!
payment not received
On oct n nov.2015 I send 2payments to capital one. Accrd. To cap. One they never received my payments eventhough I gave them a copy of the proof fr. My bank showing they cash the check. Accrd to cap one they don't endorse the check by signing but i. Gave them a comparison that they do endorse the check by signing the back. (This signature is a comparison of the payment I send them from my other acct. With cap. One which is sign by the same person that cap. One refuse to consider.) so how do u explain this. I think cap. One is already making a lot of money fr. Its credit card n for them to deny giving me credit for my payment is not right. Im fighting this case n its not over yet. I would never recommend a credit card from capital one...
title department lien release
I purchased a FORD Explorer and took Capital One Auto Financing in 2010. We paid off in 2012. In 2014 we were going to sell the car but could not find the Title document. We went to the Texas DVM to get a replacement title. The DMV informed us that there is a lien on the vehicle and cannot process the Title document. I found out the lien was still held by...

Last May, I was in Myrtle Beach and my wallet got stolen with all my credit cards and debit cards. Whoever stole the cards used my Capital One Venture card at a strip club and charged $2200.00, $2400.00, and $2400.00 all on May 2, 2015 at 12:22. The culprit also spent $1000.00 on two other cards which was First Premier and my Wells Fargo card. I called all three companies the day after (Saturday May 3) immediately after I realized my wallet was gone. All the companies said not to worry and that everything would be taken care of and I was definitely not going to be held liable. After about a month, all the companies did what they promised and all charges were refunded. I then felt secure and went on about my life thinking everything was okay. Some time passed maybe another two weeks and Capital One sent me a notification that they were not recognizing my fraud claim and that it was not considered fraud. I immediately called them to figure out what was going on. It is now January 3, 2016 and they still will not take these fraudulent charges off my account. I have spoken to Rolanda B. (they will not give me her last name) in the fraud department what seems like hundreds of times, talked to her manager, and anyone else who will speak to me in the fraud department and get no where. They say it is my job to prove that it was not me who made the charges, which I have done to the best of my ability. I have done everything they have asked of me including filing a police report with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. They still are charging me! I have had arguments and explained to Capital One that they told me I am not liable and even took it off my account for about a month just to be put back on. They are basically calling me a liar and instead of being innocent until I am guilty they are saying I am guilty until I can figure out to prove my innocent which I feel like I have. I am not a lawyer and do not really no where to go from hear. I even told them that both other credit card companies recognized them as fraud (thanks and great customer service from Wells Fargo and First Premier) but Capital One says they do not care and that their fraud requirements are different. I am just requesting what Capital One told me when I signed up with them, that I would not be held liable for fraudulent charges and to take off the fraudulent charges. I have all detailed information to move forward with a resolution or if it is not resolved a lawsuit. Thanks for your Time, Jaryd Acheson
entrapment
I recently received a letter in the mail from Capital One saying "You're working to get on track-trying to stay on top of your bills and monitoring your finances. And, you've been pre-approved and are eligible for this Capital One Platinum MasterCard offer." Upon applying, I was denied an account with Capital One, which will hurt, not help, my FICO score. Calling customer service to find out exactly what the "pre-approval" criteria are, the Supervisor informed me "there is not a direct number that can help you with those questions. I don't know." BEWARE! Please make your own conclusions but if your Customer Service SUPERVISOR cannot at least point you in the right direction, CapitalOne, THERE IS A PROBLEM. This is a huge company and it's not right that these things can be dismissed.
...and they employ Samuel Jackson who hates white people as much as I detest him, and that is a lot!
repo - filling chapter 13
After all the thousands of complaints i have read in the past 2 days regarding capital one auto finance people making payment arrangements paying them and capital one still repos their car im filling chapter 13 the rep guy couldn't get mine think outside the box see pic well i have an issue with capital one 360 auto division. I have put my truck in a garage for now. I only have a balance of 5, 600.00 out of an original balance of 28, 410.00. So i have about 10400.00 equity in the h3. I can not get into my account anymore via web site see attached paperwork i only needed 10 days to give them 800.00 and they sent a repo guy to my house twice this week ( see attached pic he couldn't get my truck ). They will never see that truck but i want to pay the remainder balance. That's just wrong of them to take a vehicle that someone has paid for 5 years on and only has maybe 6 payments left. And needs 10 stinks days to make two payments at least to them. That is nothing but pure greed... I was unemployed for the past 2 years and struggled every month to make the payment to them but i did... I had nothing left i could do as of aug 2015 to make the payments and then i finally got hired on at ___________ oct 14, 2015 and they wont wait 10 days till i get paid
verified identity
my name is Shirley doss I applied for a venture card a month ago, I completed two phone verifications emailed and faxed over 40 documents they tell me once we, verify we will call u in one to two business days to clear ur account, well they sent me another email link two days ago for more documents I did, I called today and get told this time they put a note in for a bank verification. on the 16th. I am a 71 yr old 300 pound disabled lady which happens to be full blown diabetic and just had 3 hernias removed I am restricted from a vehicle for a while it take twice as long to heel being the way I, am. I have given all my cooperation 100 percent, and as the customer I feel I should get the, same. I have a lot of friends and family that use ya, so I decided hey I will to. I have reasons for applying for that. my number is [protected]
credit card
Have you noticed that when you are past that introductory rate, your new rate will usually be just a few points higher at first; then...? Well, when I asked a Capital One rep why my rate went from 12.9% to 24.99%, this was the answer and I quote, 'Because we can'. Yup; that was it.
However, if you have a low balance, you will not see this. If you owe more than $4, 000 and don't pay it off when raise the rate a few points, they know that you probably can't pay it off, and BOOM! Up goes the rate to the legal maximum. It takes a little prodding, but eventually you can get the reps to admit the customer-hating policy of Capital One. Loyalty means NOTHING to Capital One; I had my card for 10 years and they did it to me. Got a Wells Fargo card 15-months interest free, and I'll have it paid off, and save the $80 plus interest that had been squeezed out of me by Capital One, MONTHLY.
Why does Capital One jack up that interest... 'because we can', and that was another direct quote by one of their customer service reps. Free advice: get another card, ANY OTHER CARD and transfer your Capital One balance or '..What's in your wallet?' will be nothing.
approved credit card
I received a preapproved letter from Capital One. I went to the beach on vacation and decided then to see if I could get approved. I got approved... I got my approval letter on the 8/19 or 20th... Then, I get a email saying they notice I haven't activated my card. I am thinking OMG! Someone stole the card. So I deactivate... know, to do this you have to have the last four digit of the card and you have to have your last 4 digits of your social security. Well, [censored]! If, I put that info in and it tells me that I have a card, and the amount... How in the world can I call Customer Service and they tell me I don't have a card it must be One Capital?
This morning 9/16 I received another email and was told that my card was returned to them.. Where am I? What the Hell!
So, I contacted the fraud dept but after reading some of these complaints. I feel like that is a waste of time as well.
SOMEBODY NEEDS TO ANSWER ME... WITH THE QUICKNESS!
PISSED in the CAROLINAS
harrassment, false claims, car repo!
From the beginning of deciding to buy a car through the blank check program I had nothing but issues. I purchased a used 2007 Vw Jetta back in Dec. 2012, I took my blank check to the dealership thinking it would be a quick smooth process, I was wrong . To shorthen this part of the story, it was bait and switch they told me specifically what my interest rate and payment would be then it was something completely higher in the end! The payment was way higher than it should have been and I tried for almost two years to refinance with Capital One with no success. On top of that the car I bought I found out recently it needs new transmission, Coolant fans, and O2 sensors at cost over $7000! The car value is not even that much! So after getting laid off from my job I fell behind in payments yet I still made my regular minimum payment which they told me they would accept this payment arrangement since I was still making the minimum. Well this morning I get ready leave the house and my freaking car is gone!. So I immediately think of Capital one and call them. I'm transferred to some other department and ask guy if they came and repossessed my car! He puts me on hold to look up my information and comes back and sure enough they took it! My issue is I just paid them two weeks ago and they took the payment and cashed it in, but the guy I talked to told me if didn't matter if I still made minimum payment because I was behind and at Any time they could come to repossess my vehicle, which is total opposite of what the customer reps told me on the phone that claims they were working with me, so here's a word of caution and please take heed. Do not believe them if they tell you they work with you and to make your payment if you fall behind, they will STILL repossess your car! It didn't matter I just paid them two weeks ago and here's the kicker, my next regular schedule payment is not until September 21! You are better keeping your money in your pocket especially since they will reposses your car regardless! You will need that money when you are stranded and have no vehicle to get around with, Capital One are a bunch of liars, and shady, do not get financed through them. Another thing is when you get behind in a payment they will call and call you every day, total harassment even if you already talked to them once they will continue to call you non-stop!
no refund of reward miles
My wife and I reserved a hotel in Paris for August 13-19 but had to cancel in June because of a medical emergency. Cap One contacted the hotel multiple times to get our 101, 000 rewards miles reinstated. They seemed to try hard, but the hotel ignored their phone calls and emails for two months, then finally refused the refund. So my complaint with Cap One is this: Why do they allow a vendor/client (the Melia Royal Alma hotel) to ignore their emails and phone calls and abuse their customers whom they represent? They have the leverage with the hotel to get this done, but they did not use it. They gave in. The only reason we are with Cap One is for the double miles. Now that does not seem as appealing.
unwanted mail. unauthorised collection of my name and address details
I am fed up receiving junk mail from companies whose products I do not need. I didn't give them my name and address so they have 'bought' it from another company, or possibly stolen it. When I went to their web page to tell them to delete my details from their database I find that there is no email address, only phone numbers and addresses. I was going to post their application form back to them and tell them, in garage language, where to go. Instead, I type in 'Capital One A**holes' and read about a person getting a lot of hassle from Capital One. I find this Complaints Board procedure at the top of the page and decide to see if it's worth the bother
capital one commits fraud

banking protection from illegal charges
I have run a small business and i have a business account with capital one. On jun 4 i saw a unauthorized debit of usd 530. 18 to my account which was done on jun 2. I contacted capital one and filed a complaint about the unauthorized charge. The agent filed my claim and was advise that i should be hearing from them. Today jun 10 i received a mail from the bank saying that they deny my claim because i did not report within the time frame required. I was shocked. I reported within 2 days of the incident. I called the bank and the agent said capital one policy for business account is within 24 hours only. The agent mentioned over 20 times the same sentence when i try to justify what about the business owner's protection com ? She just wanted to brush me off with the same note. I was persistent and eventually i was transferred to supposedly a manager to lodge my complain. Meanwhile as i was waiting for the manager to come online (Which he did after 10 mins) i placed a call to chase business banking section. I asked them their policy and the agent checked and advise chase allows max 60 days to client to dispute the charge or debit to their account. Same was conveyed to the agent that came on line eventually. Again complained was raised. Explained the whole 9 yards. Now i am given another complain number to follow up. My point is in today's world of cyber hacking and theft how will 24 hours protect us ? Only 24 hours protection is totally not acceptable. Capital one does not want small business owner to bank with them ?
The dispute policy was made perfectly clear to you when you created your account. If you found it not acceptable then, why did you create it and not go to a bank with a policy more to your liking?

Jimmy,
I received this card in March of this year trying to establish some form of credit. I was approved for $49 deposit and $200 credit line, I added on another $100 for a $250 credit line. After 2 months of having card they close my account for suspicious activities. After calling several departments and getting no-where I decided to get legal help and I advise anyone else to do the same.
So you refused to verify your information and they are the ###?
