Purchased Bryn Mawr II CertainTeed replacement windows in 2002 that supposedly had a liftime warranty. Now, since they don't make the window anymore, all they are willing to do is replace the glass and expect me to take the window apart to replace the glass or PAY to have it done. They didn't give me a lifetime warranty on the GLASS, it was on the window, sash, glass and frame. Their brochure extols the virtue of "Satisfaction Guaranteed" from a company that's been in business since 1904 and that's the main reason I bought their window and not someone else's1

I totally agree. My warranty paper on the front states, LIFETIME WARRANTY, LIMITED NON PRORATED. I tried to read between the lines so to speak, and it seems there is no warranty. Reason is, it sort of states that they only warranty the part that they manufacture, which may only be the lock with there name on it. I am not sure this is legal, but who has the time ans money to take them to court.
A: The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the federal law that governs consumer product warranties. Passed by Congress in 1975, the Act requires manufacturers and sellers of consumer products to provide consumers with detailed information about warranty coverage. It also affects both the rights of consumers and the obligations of warrantors under written warranties.

Congress wanted to ensure that consumers could get complete information about warranty terms and conditions. By providing consumers with a way of learning what warranty coverage is offered on a product before they buy, the Act gives consumers a way to know what to expect if something goes wrong.
A "limited" written warranty allows the manufacturer to include a provision that restricts the duration of implied warranties to the duration of the limited warranty. For example, a two-year limited warranty can limit implied warranties to two years. However, a "full" written warranty cannot limit the duration of implied warranties.

We purchased our home with the "CertainTeed" FAILING RUBBER SEALS! We happen to be the third owner, as the second owner flipped the house, trying to rake any and ALL profits in his pocket. WE ARE BOTH DISABLED WITH MULTIPLE SURGERIES, AT 52, AND 56, CONTINUING ON. Learned of the warranty from neighbors AFTER MOVING IN, NOW ALL WINDOWS ARE FAILING AFTER ONLY 6 MONTHS AND THEY ARE DENYING OUR WARRANTY CLAIM. ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE, PRIOR TO OUR SEEKING LEGAL COUNSUL? SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE TO PAY LABOR TO REPLACE GLASS. ONE WINDOW WILL NOT EVEN STAY OPEN, SPRINGS GONE, DROPS DOWN ON YOU!

I have 55 certainteed windows. 6 have now failed. fogging up. I was told by the builder that is now out of business that I had a lifetime warranty. This company is underhanded. They are asking us to sign a contract giving up future claims for groups on windows rather than just the failing windows and paying only for replacement part. Not labor. They should go out of business. I see all 55 windows failing. I have had 6 replaced and now another is failing. Certainteed is certain lairs, cheats, and crooks! I will never buy one of their products again or allow a contractor to put their products in my home. Avoid them at all cost!

I purchased Certainteed specifically because it was a company that I felt was not going out of business. My previous replacement windows had a lifetime warranty and the company went out of business . This time I paid extra to buy Certainteed so this would not happen again. Now being told that they no longer support windows and I have to bring the window to a store, get an estimate, have them approve the estimate, then bring it back and have the work done, and finally wait for a check to reimburse me for the money I put out to the glass company.

Seems we all are in good company, unfortunately. My story is very much the same. 35 CertainTeed windows installed when we built our house in 1993, for many of the same reasons stated above. Several windows failed over the years and got moisture between the insulated double panes. I received replacement sashes for all of them over the course of SEVENTEEN years. I filed another claim in 2019 for additional failed windows and was told my warranty was a TEN year warranty. Hmmmmm, that didn't make sense to me because they sent me replacement sashes for 17. When I called this to their attention, here is the response: "We had parts on site in 2010, so some one just did a good will claim and mailed you the parts."
Seriously? Maybe someone in 2010 did the right thing and honored the warranty promised by the contractor who purchased and installed the CertainTeed windows. I will never purchase any product offered by Saint-Gobain, that acquired CertainTeed.
