I went to walmart to cash my payroll check, as I have many times in the past, but was told that my check could not be cashed. I submitted all the required information. I was given a slip of paper with the name of Certesy check services and a phone number to call for an explanation. I used my cell phone to call from the parking lot. I was told that all my information was valid and the check was valid, but my check could not be cashed. The representative did not give me a satisfactory explanation. I don't understand why a perfectly good check with all the proper identifacation would not be honored because of the whim of a never before heard of company. I sent my thoughts to walmart. This will affect my shopping frequency at walmart. I realize walmart is one of the big boys, but how many people can they afford to make angry with this company?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I am a very cliam person but it hurt me because I do all my shopping at wal-mart and then to let me down like this in front of all the poeple in line, belive me I was very hurt and disappointed at wal-mart because my firend keep telling me that wal-mart never let you down on anything and a little bit angry I even call the number [protected] and who ever was in certesy check services answer told that he could not do any thing about it so what kind of services i s this
cash it at your bank. why use walmart any way?
They outsourced American jobs to a country with customer service agents you cannot understand and have to continually ask to repeat what they said numerous times. This is DISGUSTING. Not to mention the fact that they refuse to cash good checks at their "WHIMS". Credit Unions are better than banks or cashing checks at walmart. walmart offers a convenience, that's all. but NEVER AGAIN. Both walmart and certesy suck.
Don't feel bad. I took a Walmart stock check to walmart 11415 Quaker Ave, Lubbock, Tx 79423 and the store refused to cash it. Talked to an Asst Manager, Marc, he could care less. Asked for store manager and was told she was busy and it would be 2-3 hours before she could talk to me. Way to go Walmart. Amazon is kicking your [censor].
I went to cash a check today and was declined announced to me as I have cashed my checks at Walmart and never had an issue. No reason why, was told to call the number on my disbursment receipt with reference no. and i did [protected] , no live person just a recording that will make you go around in circles Then got 2 options get my file with them i had to give them my id , ss no. and my banking information. Why my banking info and if i do not have a bank , why go to Walmart and cash my check anyways. I think what has happened is that Walmart has changed their cash checking provider and this Provide seems to be in the business of not cashing checks but in collections. I have not bounced any check s and no way to get the reason on why this happened. Oh yeah reason is that my check is not under the guidelines of the retailer , depending on retailer and retailer in this case Walmart has no clue about this either. Hands up ! I thought maybe the clerk did not put my info in right or something and she would not try again. No Manager to help with this situation either. This is very poor Customer Service from Walmart and this place called Certesy. So careful about going here to cash a check!
I stopped at a Dollar General store located the small community of Rentz, GA and attemped to pay for a approximately $51.00 purchase and to my complete shock and embarassment, the check was refused by Certegy. My check was most definitely good and far, far more money was in my account than that. I immediately went to my bank and was told to call Certegy which I did. I was read the 4 reasons checks can be refused. The first was insufficient fund (this was most definitely not the case), store location, series of checks I was writing, and company policies that are subject to change. I told them this was garbage and to send me my file which they did. Same answer "04: this transaction received a decline recommendation from because it did not meet the acceptance guidelines, which can vary by store and transactions. Factors include a combination of:the check number, dollar amount, check-writing history, or other transaction details. Generally, these guidelines do not include your account balance because banks typically do not provide it to us."
So
Next paragragh gets worse as it says "Certegy records show the following items based on your Credit Identifiers: the information is retained on file until the item is paid, four (4)k years from the check ddate, or until notified by the reporting source to remove whichever is less"
