We flew through melbourne to kathmandu on 9th of october on flight sq238 through changi airport singapore as a transit. While the staffs at melbourne security check in were so professional, gentle and cheerful, the ones at changi airport terminal 3 were complete opposite. They seemed very upset at everyone, gave unclear instructions to people which made everyone confused. They were also very impatient, rude and unprofessional and treated people in a very unwelcomed manner. After the check-in, we were told that our carry-ons needed to be checked in for some reason which was never explained properly. We saw some other people walking in with their carry ons, and asked one of the staff why we were not allowed our carry on in while others did, they didn't give us any clear answers. After we boarded we realised the overhead storages were much smaller and didn't fit more than a personal items, probably the reason handful of people were not allowed their carry-ons in. This could have been explained in much nicer way than just brushing people off for asking questions.
I understand its stressful job to be working as a security officer, but it gives whole changi airport a bad look. Despite the beauty and grandness of changi airport, this one incident makes me feel reluctant to use changi airport as a transit again or to visit singapore in future.
Desired outcome: All I hope is on my next transit flight back, staff are more nicer and welcoming. I really hope changi airport takes a proper action towards the security officers, perhaps provide some service training and sensitivity lessons.
