I received a letter from CIT Bank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc. The letter states that they regret that they were unable to approve me for services at this time due to being unable to verify information provided by me on my application for a Jewelry Television preferred account. And then it goes on to say that I should contact Equifax Credit Information Services with an 800 number. Unfortunately you cannot talk to a person. It is all automated.

Problem is I never applied for any such account. There is no phone number or name on this letter to contact.

Does this sound like a scam or did someone try to steal my identity!

I received a letter dated 11/18/09 from CIT Bank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc. stating that I was not approved for a purchase from Aeropostale. I have never heard of CIT Bank and have never tried to purchase anything from Aeropostale on line or in any store. It seems that alot of people have gotten these. What should I do if anything?

I recieved a letter as well dated 1/29/10 that I purchased something at Office Max for 641.99 and that I was denied a"Bill Me Later" account. I did not buy anything from Office Max nor have i even heard of Bill Me Later. I recently had someone use my Debit card number to try and buy 4100+ dollars in coins from a mint in NY. Thankfully caught it in time and stopped the payment and cancelled the card. I think this is what is happening with this. Please let me know what I can do?

Thanks,
Maura R.

I recently received a letter dated 3/12/2010 from CIT Bank C/O Bill Me Later stating that I had applied for a purchase to US Airways for $885.40. I have never heard of these people either and they also, did not include a contact number. I had to hunt them down online. This is rediculious.

I didn't get a letter but I did get declined for credit at CompUsa by CIT Bank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc. because they claimed Equifax said my information was incorrect. After contacting them They said send a letter. Equifax spent an hour on the phone and went through the app and said that there was nothing incorrect that CIT Bank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc. had something wrong with their system.
After seeing all the complaints about this company seems I was lucky in the trun down.

12/13/10 Just received a letter stating I had been turned down for $1770.15 for something I had purchased on Bill Me Later from Hewlett Packard Bill Me Later. I have not applied for anything from Bill Me Later, or HP either. This seems to be another way of being scammed and the public needs to know. I hope this helps someone who has received a letter like mine!

I received a letter from WebBank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc.
This bogus inquiry occurred for a ticket on Delta Airline for $515.40 on 7/18/11. Unable to approve, unable to verify information from, Equifax with a referral to Equifax. I've never heard of any of these vendors, nor have I ever applied for any such credit for airline tickets on Delta. Who are these scam artists?

I have received two of these letters now and was getting worried about it, but really feel sorry for who ever is trying to use my name. I already put my name in the mud so I know better than to apply for a bill me later service. Has anyone figured out how to make them stop coming?

I too just received a letter today from WebBank in Utah about a purchase on 11/23/2011 at Walmart that they were unable to approve me for the service at this time for the following reason. Your information was incomplete or inaccurate or the circumstances may have suggested that the purchase was not made by me. I was never in Walmart on 11?23 and never applied to Bill Me Later.
What is going on? They are connected to Paypal, Is someone trying to steal my identity? No signature, no phone number just the address to respond with questions in Timonium, Md. I will call Paypal on Monday, but meanwhile has anyone found out what this is about? Should i send a letter to Md. saying I never was in Walmart or applie for this?

I agree, I just received that exact same letter. All this after I found out someone used my name and soc sec # to file a fraudlent tax return with the IRS (a week ago) because mine got rejected due to one had already been submitted. I now have to wait 90 days for an investigation and no refund until case settled. I have a Fraud alert with all 3 credit agencies and have to file a compliant with the FTC.

Be very careful...I have a Bill Me Later Account and they are the biggest scam since watergate, They say use Bill Me Later with 6 months to pay and then they charge you a 35.00 late fee and when you try to talk to them they say the purchases didn't qualify for the promotion but yet they send you no bill. DO NOT EVER USE THIS SCAM BILL ME LATER. I have reported them to Consumer Protection. I wish I had of check more closely before opening an account with them. It seem they have a habit of using scandalous practices. As soon as I pay them off I am closing my account with them. I have also close my paypal account because they are connected with Bill Me Later. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. CHECK THEM OUT ON CONSUMER.ORG OR PISSED CONSUMER.

I am guessing from the looks of these posts that Bill me later is a scam to get your info. I tried to use it and it sent me the decline letter, but no way to contact except by postal mail.
It tells me that it assumes the attempt to purchase was not made by me, but I put in everything correct 2 times. I guess I had better take a look at my credit daily until this is resolved.

Recieved the same letter, but I apparently tried to purchase $1688.50 worth of stuff from the Walmart online. I immediately went to equifax which is the reporting company on the letter and checked my report. They definitely did go into my credit and pull it, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! I placed a fraud alert on the account for the next 90 days, if anyone else tries to do the same, and open an account using my info, I will know about it.

I just got the same Letter from WebBank c/o Bill Me Later (which I had never heard of until today) saying that I tried to open an account with them in connection with a recent purchase at Ebay on 5/29/2012. My information (never gave them any) was incomplete or innacurate so they could not complete the request. I DO have an Ebay account, but I haven't bought anything there in years! Just like above there is no contact number. Just the mailing address. I contacted WebBank to see what was up. I got their phone number from the internet!. But WebBank just told me to call Bill Me Later and gave me the number. [protected] if anyone needs the number. I DON't have a Bill Me Later account so calling that number did me no good! I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

I recently stayed at the Park Place Hotel 300 E. State St. Traverse City, Michigan. I have stayed several times in the last six months, including the Presedential Suite. This visit was the worst I have had. I have had in the past stayed and informed staff about the bugs, dirt, spiders and webs. This time, I got sick from something eaten in the restraunt in the hotel. I talked to the hotel manager. She was RUDE, NOT HEARING WHAT I HAD TO SAY, AND NOT WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE I WAS EVEN ILL AND APOLOGIZE FOR THAT. I give this place a complete no star rating. There are too many chances given to this hotel, and this was the last. There are also too many hotels on the water and other restraunts nearby to go to. This one is, as the brochure says"In my history book".

I got the identical letter that Kimdar got except that mine is dated 1-6-14 and is from Comenity Capital Bank c/o Bill Me Later, Inc. in Timonium, MD. and says it in connection with a purchase at BMI.com Acquisition. I have never applied for a Bill Me Later account and have never heard of BMI.com Acquisition.

I, too, received a letter like the above. Of course, it is bogus, so I logged on to this website to see if other complaints were there. Now that that has been confirmed, I called my debit card company to see if an attempt was made there. So far, not, but a couple of weeks ago there were nine attempts on my debit card but they blocked them all and I had to change my card number. And that was not the first time. I would advise everyone to check their cards often. I wish their was something that could be done about these hackers and thieves!

I also got a letter from Comenity/Bill Me Later telling me my request to open an account had been denied. I was relieved, because I didn't submit an application to open an account, and suspect it was our neighbor's son, who has been tampering with our mail. It's good if you DO get a letter stating you've been denied for an application you never submitted, because that means they're just not accepting every application they receive. If they HAD, I would have been dealing with bills I never incurred. It looks like this has become quite an identify theft problem, though.

I also received a letter from Comenity Capital Bank co/ Bill Me Later, Inc dated 08/11/2014. It did not give me an amount of the purchase but did say that i was denied credit approval to open a bill me later account. The main body of the letter says that it is from Trans Union (with a space and not one word. Suppose to be the credit agency).

My mom just received this letter in the mail last week and it said that she applied for a PayPal Credit back in September 17, and didn't get approved. Whatever it is, we called TransUnion and put a fraud alert on her account, and I am going to help her do this with the other two credit companies so this way, no one can just start making credit cards under her name. I was going to write to them letting them know that my mom never applied for any PayPal account and then I noticed that while the Comenity Bank address is in Maryland, at the bottom of the letter with the Federal Credit Reporting Act, they are saying they are from Ohio, and they also didn't spell Federal with a capital F. So it is VERY obvious that this letter is a FRAUD and a scam. They did go into her credit report because TransUnion shows it on there as an inquiry. Now I am in the process of calling TransUnion to help my mom dispute this inquiry. All of you should call your the three credit bureaus and also check your credit reports for any inquiries that are strange or has any of your wrong info. I noticed that in the inquiry they have my mom's wrong phone number listed in the inquiries.
