This company contacted me with a job offer. I went through the interview process and was introduce to my "online supervisor" Scott Rutledge. He briefed me about the job description, benefits, pay, and how if I encounter any issues he will be the person to contact. He informed me that this corporation wants its employees to have the best equipment possible to be able to perform their duties. He told me that the "Finance Department" was going to contact me to discuss how funds were going to be deposited into my account, for me to get the equipment necessary to work for them. The "Accounting Department" contacted me via email. Here is a copy of the email:

I contacted the Hiring Team as well as my "supervisor" I informed me that I was very uncomfortable providing this information and I was told it part of the hiring process. Scott Rutledge (supervisor) was suppose to contact me for further explanation but he never did. I never shared this information with them because its a RED FLAG. I am sharing this information with everyone in an effort to avoid others from been scam by Cognizant. I hate when people try to take advantage of others.

Hello,

The same thing happened to me...but I am confused because the company is legitimate...I looked them up on Google. I am not sure what is going on here, nobody should ask you for all of that information, why would they need your user id and password to your bank account?

HI,

I have also been in contact with Scott Rutledge although i declined to have funds deposited into my account opting to have a check mailed to me. Is this for a data entry position as well? I think i am going to call the company directly tomorrow and find out if there is anyone that works there by this name.

mjoseph, did you get any word on the company or did you receive a check? The job I applied for said administrative support, that included data entry,

i did contact the company and they said that they have never heard of this individual. I received a check in the amount of 2500 and it came from CT which raised a red flag because the company is based in NJ and the check had a name of a individual that lived in San Deigo. When i asked for HR to contact me to verify this is legit i got a text message from a shady number saying that i should trust this 100%. This whole thing is a scam and since i made a stink about it to "MR. Rutledge" on tuesday he has not been online ever since. I hope this helps you out.

i had the same thing happen to me. I found the position on a job search website and they contacted me. First i had a interview online and than she explained a supervisor would contact me which he did. Everything was done online using yahoo instant messenger which was really weird. I was uneasy about this because they moved to fast for me. So i had a conversation online with the "supervisor" and he explained the position, wage, benefits. And than he went on to say it was certain software that needed to be purchased to download on the get this the apple Mac that the company will ship to me after confirmation of the software. I thought this is weird and responded well can I just purchase the software on amazon or eBay he said no i would have to western union $312.00 to a Nancy Ryoo, Atl, Ga. And i paused and he kept replying you got it? are you still there? I responded calling him out letting him know this didn't make sense. I did not complete an application, w4, or a i9 form so how did i get the job. I'm pissed and it's sickening me that a person will go to these lengths and victimize people who are desperate just for money. So look out people!
